DYNAMITE PLAYS A “GAME OF THRONES” in SEPTEMBER

BANTAM BOOKS AND DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE ALEX ROSS AND MIKE S. MILLER AS COVER ARTISTS FOR GEORGE R.R. MARTIN’S BEST SELLING SERIES – GAME OF THRONES

ISSUE #1 IN STORES IN SEPTEMBER!

NEW YORK, NY – June 29th, 2011 – Bantam Books, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, announced today Alex Ross and Mike S. Miller as the cover artists for the comic adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.

The series will be illustrated by Tommy Patterson and adapted and scripted by Daniel Abraham, the award-winning and bestselling author of The Long Price Quartet.  The first issue of the monthly comic-which will be published by Dynamite Entertainment-is planned to release in September 2011, with compilations of the comics in graphic novel form to follow under the Bantam imprint.

“It has been fifteen years since I first edited A GAME OF THRONES, and it is a genuine joy to be revisiting and adapting this landmark novel into a format that suits it so perfectly,” says Senior Editor at Random House Anne Groell.  “George’s writing has always been highly visual, painting rich, detailed and striking images in the reader’s minds and hearts.  And now seeing such a talented group of artists bringing that so vividly to life is truly exciting.  I couldn’t be more pleased with everything I have seen so far–and I can’t wait for what is yet to come!”

“It’s a real privilege and a treat to be involved with reinterpreting Game of Thrones,” says writer Daniel Abraham.  “It’s a brilliant piece of work, and watching the strength of that story come into a visual medium is fantastic.”

“George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones is the best book series I’ve ever read,” says cover artist Mike Miller.  “Not just in the fantasy genre, but in ANY genre.  Just as I hear people saying Game of Thrones is the best series on TV, I’m sure they’ll be saying the same about the comic book.  You can’t find a better writer anywhere than George, and I was very excited to get the opportunity to draw covers for the comic book adaptation.”

Game of Thrones began airing on HBO in April 2011, and quickly became one of the highest rated, and critically acclaimed show of the year, with a 2nd season commitment by HBO following the airing of the first episode. The season finale was the highest rated episode of the season, showing the strength of the series.  The comics and graphic novels will further expand the Game of Thrones series into a new medium, creating opportunities for readers old and new to immerse themselves in this bestselling world.

STAN LEE IS BACK FOR MORE AT BLUEWATER

Finally, the definitive illustrated biography of the controversial creator
who reinvented the comic biz, Smilin’ Stan Lee.

This detailed critical overview of Lee’s life and career unflinchingly
deals with still-open questions about who really “created” Marvel’s best known
characters; scripter Lee, or illustrators like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko,
who’ve disputed their former boss’ recollections as to who deserves the most
credit, not to mention compensation, the bulk of both having long since been
claimed by Stan Lee. Written by pop culture historian and San Diego Reader
columnist Jay Allen Sanford, this visual history of Marvel’s eventual empire
is bound to institute much discussion, and possibly contention, in both the
comic industry and mainstream trade press.

From Bluewater Productions and Revolutionary Comics, Blackwell drew the
issue and Michael Szyksznian provided cover art.

To make sure you get your copy of “Orbit: Stan Lee”, contact your local
comic book store to pre-order it. To find a comic book store near you go to
www. comicshoplocator.com. The standard 22-page issues retails for $3.99. It
will be available at all comic book retail outlets.

“We are launching ‘Orbit’ with a skew towards a more male demographic. Said
publisher Darren G. Davis. “When we weighed the possibilities of featuring
people like Stern, LeBron James, Gary Gygax and JRR Tolkien into our
existing titles, the tone and tenor didn’t match. Their enduring popularity and
contributions to popular culture are worthy of coverage, but they needed a
different voice in which to present the material. ‘Orbit’ fits that bill”

Upcoming Orbit biographies include Stephen King, Howard Stern, Keith
Richards and Steve Jobs.    Revolutionary Comics and Bluewater also have produced
graphic novels that are still available on “Pink Floyd”, “The Beatles”,
“Elvis”, “Led Zeppelin” & “Hard Rock Heroes”

ELEPHANTMEN TAKE A TURN

The Walking Dead Readers Will Flip Over Elephantmen: Man and Elephantman

Berkeley, CA – 28 June 2011 – The latest issue of Robert Kirkman’s immensely popular original series THE WALKING DEAD will be presented as a flip book, offering readers a preview of the Eagle Award winning ELEPHANTMEN, industry legend Richard Starkings’ acclaimed science fiction series.

On the flip side of THE WALKING DEAD #86, the 23-page introduction into the world of ELEPHANTMEN has been taken from ELEPHANTMEN: MAN AND ELEPHANTMAN #1, an issue that proved a great jumping on point for readers who had yet to pick up the series. Axel Medellin provides the ongoing title with sexy and colorful painted art, and while his style sharply contrasts Charlie Adlard’s stark, realistic black and white pages for THE WALKING DEAD, Kirkman and Starkings know that the two series share many of the same readers.

“Even though THE WALKING DEAD and ELEPHANTMEN seem to be very different, I know from talking to fans at shows that we have a big crossover readership,” explained Starkings. “Both books are character-driven science fantasy stories featuring leads who keep their feet firmly on the ground. It makes perfect sense to offer THE WALKING DEAD readers a sample issue of ELEPHANTMEN on the house. As for me (no kidding), THE WALKING DEAD is the one book I never miss reading month after month!”

“I’m a big fan of Richard’s storytelling,” Robert Kirkman added. “This is quality science fiction, and it’s one of those titles that everyone should be reading because it just keeps getting better and better.”

Three volumes of ELEPHANTMEN have already been published in handsome hardcover and trade paperback editions. The fourth and most recent volume, ELEPHANTMEN: QUESTIONABLE THINGS is available in hardcover now, with a trade paperback edition going on sale in July.

THE WALKING DEAD #86 (APR110529), a 48-page black and white horror comic for $2.99, will be available at a comic store near you on June 29, 2011, while ELEPHANTMEN: QUESTIONABLE THINGS TP (JUL110463) will be available for sale on July 20th for $24.99. ELEPHANTMEN: MAN AND ELEPHANTMAN #1 VAR CVR 2ND PTG (FEB118098) is still available for reorder.

ARMOR X TPB COLLECTION, REMASTERED JUST THE WAY IT WAS ALWAYS MEANT TO BE!

Coming from Dynamite this August!

June 28, 2011 – Runnemede, NJ – Dynamite Entertainment is pleased to announce the release of Armor X, remastered with all new story, art, dialogue and color. Re-imagined the way it was always intended to be.  This classic creator-owned series collected for the first time, completely remastered with all-new story and art, written by Keith Champagne, art and new cover by Andy Smith, with a back cover by Bart Sears.

Carson Deeds is an emotionally troubled teen with a loaded shotgun beneath his bed and a list of classmates in his aim. When a suit of alien armor falls into Carson’s hands, he stumbles across the power to live out every revenge fantasy he’s ever dreamed. Or did the armor find him?

“Imagine you had been spit on your entire life. Family, peers…you’ve never been accepted by any of them,” says writer Keith Champagne. “And suddenly, you stumble across the power to live out every revenge fantasy you’ve ever dreamed.  To make matters worse, that power–in this case, a suit of alien technology–is actually urging you to use it for evil purposes. With great power comes great opportunity and suddenly, the entire world could literally belong to you.  In those circumstances, could you rise above yourself and become something better? What if you had to, because suddenly the lives of everyone you know are in danger when the suit’s owners come looking for it.”

“Keith and I have been friends for quite awhile, and we always wanted to work on a project together.  Now that we’ve done one, he felt comfortable allowing us to reprint his Armor X collection.  I was a fan of Armor X when it was first released,” says Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci.  “It is incredible that Keith considered Dynamite to publish Armor X the way it was always intended, and I can’t wait to show this comic to the world!”

award must go to Yoshiki…”  Yoshiki has produced some of Japan’s most
influential bands, including Dir En Grey and Glay.  At the request of the
Japanese government in 1999, Yoshiki composed a piano concerto and performed
it with a 77-piece orchestra to celebrate the tenth year of the Emperor of
Japan’s reign.  In 2005, he was named the Music Director for the 2005 World
Expo, composed its theme song, and conducted the orchestra at the opening
ceremonies. Yoshiki also wrote the X Japan song “I.V.” for the 2007
international blockbuster horror film “Saw IV,” which played over the film’s
closing credits.

Beyond music, Yoshiki is an entrepreneur and a true renaissance man.  He has
overseen the development of a premiere line of Yoshiki jewelry, collaborated
with the California Mondavi family to develop his own wine, “Y,² the Bank of
Japan has issued a Yoshiki Visa Card and, for the first time in history, a
Hello Kitty product line was named after a person – “Yoshikitty” – that

East-meets-west/fashion-meets-music event, ³Asia Girls Explosion,²
showcasing top fashion brands, and debuting his own line of kimonos,
³Yoshikimono.² U.S. celebrities such as rocker Marilyn Manson and stars from
the hit television series ³90210.² Yoshiki has graced the covers of more
than 200 music, business and trade media outlets in Asia.

In July, 2010, Yoshiki launched the Yoshiki Foundation America, a California
non-profit, 501(c) public benefit corporation that has already helped
organizations including The Grammy Foundation, Make-a-Wish, and St. Vincent
Meals on Wheels.  With the devastating March 2011 earthquake in Japan, YSA
is focusing all of its efforts on Japan relief, and has partnered with the

Oh, the Comedic, Tentactled Horror of ELDRITCH!

A Double Team Interview with “Lovecrafty” Creators Aaron Alexovich and Drew Rausch

Aaron Alexovich and Drew Rausch would like to be to comics what Lovecraft was too futuristic (and today, a bit prognostic) sci fi. And with their Zuda-winning comic ELDRITCH! They’re off to a Big Bang start! Part horror, part comedy, part blasphemy, ELDRITCH! is one of those wacky, irreverent tales that swishes and swirls on the page like a magic elixir that draws you in and sweeps you away to a Creative Kingdom you couldn’t imagine. In both story structure and artistic composition, these dudes write and draw outside of the lines and the result is … well, GODDAMN REFRESHING!!

Reading their work is exhausting and exhilarating and, whilst the off-kilter art may be too cartoony for some, me-thinks most comic denizens will find it very ultra-cool – somewhere between CHEW, Mad Magazine and Beetlejuice. Get ready for ELDRITCH! folks, because it’s something you haven’t quite seen before…

IDW Announces GHOSTBUSTERS Ongoing Series

All-new monthly series beginning in September

San Diego, CA (June 24, 2011) — IDW Publishing and Sony Pictures Consumer Products are thrilled to announce the launch of an all-new, ongoing GHOSTBUSTERS comic book series. Spinning out of IDW’s hit Infestation event, and featuring Ghostbusters: Infestation scribe Erik Burham, the ghost hunters from New York City are back with exciting new adventures starting in September. Helping Burnham bring this zany story of the dead to life will be fan-favorite artist Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters: What in Samhain Just Happened?!) and popular IDW Ghostbusters cover artist Nick Runge.

“My dream since I took over the editorial duties on IDW’s Ghostbusters comics license was to bring the boys in proton packs to monthly comics,” said series editor Tom Waltz. “We’ve had fantastic Ghostbusters one-shots and mini-series up to this point, but the incredible success of Ghostbusters: Infestation has proven that Ghostbusters fans, old and new alike, are still very hungry for ghostbusting tales. With the awesome creative team we’ve gathered to make it happen, the best is yet to come!”

In this ongoing series, psychokinetic energy is on the rise again, and business is booming for the boys. Ray is troubled by what could be a prophetic dream—is this an ill omen of an upcoming apocaplypse, or just a little indigestion? These questions and more are raised in the first issue of the all-new GHOSTBUSTERS comic series. In addition, each issue will contain two pages of exclusive behind-the-scenes extras by creator Tristan Jones (Tales of the TMNT.)

IDW will offer special retailer incentive covers, including a “Who Ya Gonna call” cover by Schoening, and a glow-in-the-dark cover. Furthermore, as part of IDW’s “Be a Ghostbuster” promotion, retailers will have the opportunity to obtain a unique variant featuring up to four personalized Ghostbusters on their cover. Fans are encouraged to reach out to their retailers to learn more about these exclusive variant covers.

Comics Legend GENE COLAN passes

As happens far too often lately, the comic book world has lost another one of the greats. Legendary artist Gene Colan died Thrusaday night, from complications due to liver disease and a broken hip.  Best known for his TOMB OF DRACULA with Marvel, Colan worked on everything from Daredevil toIron Man, Batman to Howard the Duck.  He even cocreated Captain America’s partner, THE FALCON.

His love of the field will endure, as will his iconic images and soft flowing line work. Always a fan favorite, RIP Gene Colan.

MADONNA COMIC BOOK IS SET TO HIT SHELVES THIS AUGUST

Bluewater is pleased to announce a special comic book project featuring one
of the most accomplished and well-known figures in the history of American
pop culture, Madonna.

“Female Force: Madonna” will be released in August 2011 and have a cover
price of $3.99. The bio on the pop icon’s life will be written by CW Cooke
and drawn by Michael Johnson.

Madonna is arguably the most influential figure in the history of American
music. This comic book will focus on her humble beginnings and the
incredible events that led to her eventually becoming one of the few people in the
world recognized by only their first name! Though she has paved the way for
many female pop stars that came after her, from Britney Spears to Lady Gaga to
Beyonce she is unique in that while many are compared to her, she is never
compared to anyone else. There is still only one Madonna and even today, in
her fifties, she remains culturally relevant. This comic book shows the
influences on her music and style that in turn have influenced every pop star
who aspires to not only make songs that people will always remember, but have
an impact on society.

The “Female Force” comic series offers a broad examination of strong and
influential women who are shaping modern history and culture. In past issues,
the monthly series has featured, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, JK
Rowling, Ellen Degeneres, Sarah Palin and others.

Bluewater’s Vice President Jason Schultz said, “Our goal is to show the
little-known events and influences that resulted in Madonna becoming the
phenomenon she remains to this day, more than a quarter-century after she burst
upon the scene. A visual medium provides perspective that is not only
accessible but more relatable to the average person without losing any of the
information involved”.

This 32-page comic book will be chronicling this saga, “Female Force:
Madonna ” will explore all sides of this inimitable talent, from her live
performances, ever-changing musical tastes, to her being a leader in fashion and
her charity work, Madonna has made positive contributions to her fans’ lives
and society at large and how, despite numerous controversies she remains
beloved by more fans than ever. Through it all, she always remained true to
herself and appeared to be genuine. What you see is what you get with her. That
– and her remarkable talent is what has made her an enduring legend. Madonna
is quite simply one of the most powerful women in the history of
entertainment.

“Most pop stars owe everything to this woman. It’s amazing all of the
things that she’s done in her lifetime, and I have a feeling that this is still
only the beginning”, says Cooke, who said he had fun scripting the Material
Girl’s life story.

New Adaptation of Servant of the Bones

IDW partners with best-selling author Anne Rice

[Servant of the Bones Image]San Diego, CA (June 9, 2011) — IDW Publishing today announced the launch of the new comic adaptation of Servant of the Bones debuting in August. IDW has a partnership with New York Times best-selling author Anne Rice (Interview with a Vampire, Queen of the Damned, The Vampire Lestat) to create the newly adapted version of one of her most celebrated works.
Rice, among the most iconic authors in horror, takes fans back to the time of ancient Babylon with this six-part tale of murder, demonic revenge, and the redemptive power of faith. IDW’s Servant of the Bones will be brought to life by the New York Times best-selling co-writer of the True Blood comic, Mariah McCourt and ornately illustrated by the New York Times best-selling art team of Renae DeLiz and Ray Dillon (The Last Unicorn).
“The closer we arrive to the release date of this splendid adaptation of Servant of the Bones, the more excited I become. I have overseen the whole phase of this project, and at each step I am more amazed,” said Rice. “Ray and Renae DeLiz’s drawings are vivid and gorgeous; Mariah Heuhner’s script has captured the heart of my novel; and the alternative covers by Jenny Frison are just breathtaking. The day Servant is officially released will be a day to remember!”
In Servant of the Bones, Azriel is an immortal spirit who is bound to the gold-encased bones of his mortal body. He struggles to understand whether he is a ghost, genie, demon or angel and shares his story with the reader and his scribe, Jonathan, as he travels to different times and eras, ending in the modern world of New York City. Amidst the towers of Manhattan, Azriel finds himself in confrontations with his own human memories and the dark forces that have sought to condemn him to a life of evil and destruction.
Beginning in August, the first issue of this adaptation will tell the story of a beautiful young woman who is brutally slain in the streets of New York City. The demon Azriel sets out to discover who killed her, only to find a far more sinister plot that could end the world. Once a human in ancient Babylon, Azriel is a spirit of rage and terror, who gradually rediscovers his humanity through holy vengeance and spiritual love.

“WRATH OF THE TITANS” RETURNS THIS WEEK WITH MORE ACTION & MORE MONSTERS!

“Wrath of the Titans: Revenge of Medusa” makes a triumphant return to
Bluewater Productions. Packed with more monsters, more action and more thrilling
adventures, the sequel is guaranteed to be just as thrilling as the
original series.   The sequel is based off the sold out comic book series   “Ray
Harryhausen Presents” Wrath of the Titans”.

Written by the original team, Darren G. Davis and Scott Davis and
illustrated by Jaime Martinez. Each issue will retail for $3.99.

The new series, which makes it victorious this week, continues to conquer
the world of comic books with its return. The second, action packed issue
hits comic book stores the 1st week of July.

With the Gods humbled and the Kraken defeated, Perseus thought Argos was to
enter a Golden Age of peace and prosperity. He was wrong. War drums are
beating, the Olympians are again scheming and Perseus’ mettle would be severely
tested. But there is a new menace, neither man nor Olympian could envision.
This sequel contains more of what made 2008’s Wrath of the Titans a
successful and entertaining roller coaster ride: more action, more intrigue…and
more monsters!

“How do you challenge someone like Perseus?” writer Scott Davis asked,
“He’s already defeated some of mythology’s most dangerous creatures. You attack
from within. You find ways to erode his confidence and shake his faith. And
in this case, you do it with what made the last series memorable…monsters
and Olympian intrigue.

The original series is still available in graphic novel form at Amazon.com.
The 96-page graphic novel, “Wrath of the Titans”, delivers everything a
proper Greek Drama demands: a hero, a cause, secret pacts, divine meddling and
revenge, insurmountable challenges, dangerous creatures and non-stop
adventure.   To order it on Amazon click here: http://amzn.to/kbi2VL

EPOCH: THE GREATEST TOURNAMENT EVER

EPOCH: THE GREATEST TOURNAMENT EVER
Kevin McCarthy & Paolo Pantalena To Debut New Supernatural Miniseries

Berkeley, CA – 22 June 2011 – Image Comics, Top Cow Productions, and Heroes and Villains Entertainment proudly present a dark and intensely kinetic tale from writer Kevin McCarthy (Red Sonja, The Amazing Adventures of the Escapist) and artist Paolo Pantalena (What If?: House of M, War of Kings: Darkhawk). EPOCH, a 5-part miniseries beginning in August, will introduce readers to a whole new reality which pits one supernatural creature against another in a dangerous competition.

“EPOCH meets all of my criteria for a cool comic: murder, mayhem, mythology, mystery, and monsters. And a hero that dresses like Ming the Merciless,” explained McCarthy. “EPOCH is the kind of comic I’d want to buy. Where else can you see an angel with inner demons solve the murder of a werewolf, pistol-whip a wizard, and run game on a gorgon?”

“When Heroes and Villains Entertainment presented us with EPOCH, we knew we had a terrifically dynamic, exciting world that comic fans would really respond to,” said Top Cow Publisher Filip Sablik. “Kevin McCarthy has really brought the concept to life with a huge cast of fascinating characters and intrigue that will keep readers coming back month after month. And if that’s not enough, Paolo Pantalena’s art is sure to grab fans by their eyeballs and refuse to let go.”

As the story of EPOCH begins, NYPD Detective Jonah Wright’s world is about to change forever. A mysterious murder case that he has been investigating threatens to rip apart his reality, plunging him into the shadowy world of the supernatural. It appears that Bishop is fated to unlock a conspiracy that could tear apart the very fabric of society!

EPOCH #1, a 32-page full color science fiction fantasy comic book for $3.99, will be available at a comic store near you on August 3, 2011.

Star Trek Comics are Back

All-new ongoing series begins in September

Classic Star Trek: The Original Series episodes reimagined in the new universe

[Star Trek #1 cover A]San Diego, CA (June 17, 2011) – The Star Trek universe will never be the same following the events of the game-changing, blockbuster 2009 film. Beginning with STAR TREK #1 in September, IDW Publishing and CBS Consumer Products join forces with Star Trek writer/producer Roberto Orci to explore the vast implications of the alternate timeline created by the film in a new, monthly, ongoing comics series.

“Movies cost money. Lots and lots of money,” said Orci. “But comics give us unlimited budgets to take the crew of the Enterprise farther than they’ve ever been. Join us!”

The adventures of the Starship Enterprise continue with the new cast from the film as they embark on missions that re-imagine the stories from the original television series, along with new threats and characters never seen before.

Under the creative direction of Orci, fan-favorite STAR TREK writer Mike Johnson and artist Stephen Molnar bring this alternate universe to life and begin the countdown to the highly anticipated Star Trek sequel. The series kicks off with a dramatic new envisioning of The Original Series second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before.”

“Finally, new STAR TREK comics that showcase the new Enterprise crew,” said editor Scott Dunbier. “The only thing more fun than reading them is editing them!”

STAR TREK #1 will feature covers from Tim Bradstreet and David Messina, plus four rare photo covers. Readers are encouraged to talk to their local retailer about the photo covers, and the super rare STAR TREK #1 signed by Orci and Johnson. The debut issue will also feature a golden ticket promotion, with more details to come shortly from IDW.

NEW ENGLAND BECOMES THE DEADLANDS

NEW ENGLAND BECOMES THE DEADLANDS
NECRA Presents David Gallaher and Steve Ellis on The Devil’s Six Gun Tour
Berkeley, CA – 17 June 2011 – This June New England will become the DEADLANDS, and it’s all the fault of the New England Comic Retailer Association (NECRA)!
To celebrate the release of the first in a star-studded series of Weird Western one shots from Image Comics, Visionary Comics, Strider-Nolan Media and Pinnacle Entertainment, NECRA is bringing the creators of DEADLANDS: THE DEVIL’S SIX GUN, writer David Gallaher and artist Steve Ellis, to a limited exclusive tour on June 25th and 26th!
The tour will encompass three of the top comic shops in the New England area. The team will appear at Friendly Neighborhood Comics and Larry’s Comics on the 25th and wrap up at Jetpack Comics on the 26th. Both Weird Western maestros extraordinaire, Gallaher and Ellis, will be on hand for autographs and sketches, and each store will be stocked with the absolutely haunting exclusive NECRA tour cover by Ellis, which was printed just for the tour with a limited print run of 1,000 copies.
Gallaher was excited to do the NECRA tour: “The comic shop experience is really rather unique. I see this tour as an opportunity to really build a stronger relationship with retail stores and the customers they serve. It’s a good step towards building a stronger comics community as a whole.”
With media sites such as IGN hailing this as an “All-Star Western” and Newsarama promising Devil’s Six Gun “will knock you for a loop,” it seems the entire country is getting on board.
“We’re very excited about the NECRA tour,” chimed in C. Edward Sellner, Creative Director for Visionary and the writer and colorist for the super secret backup feature drawn by Oscar Capristo. “Visionary staff will also be doing a tour and release party for each of the four one-shots along the east coast. Stores are lining up to participate and support the books.”
Other events around the country are being planned for the summer, and the DEADLANDS crew will be invading GenCon and Baltimore Comic-Con. Each stop will feature various creators involved as well as Visionary staff. More details on all these events will be coming soon. Please check the sites of the main partners to get the latest!

After Schism Comes X-MEN: REGENESIS!

New York—June 16, 2011—Marvel is pleased to announce X-Men: ReGenesis, a bold new direction redefining the X-Men franchise! X-Men: ReGenesis kicks off this fall in Uncanny X-Men #1 & Wolverine and the X-Men #1 and its ramifications will send shockwaves throughout every X-Book and the Marvel Universe! Prepare for the X-Men’s new dawn as former allies head off in different directions, taking with them your favorite X-Men characters. Following the unforgettable outcome in X-Men: Schism, mutantkind will be asking one another “Who will you follow?” and their answers may surprise you! Never before have there been TWO teams calling themselves the X-Men and never has anyone had to choose a side. Guided by their different ideologies, each leader has their own mission for saving their species, but is only one of them right?

This October, Marvel Architect Jason Aaron and superstar artist Chris Bachalo launch Wolverine And The X-Men #1, assembling a team led by Logan himself with a line-up that nobody will see coming. Then, in November, history is made with Uncanny X-Men #1.  From the superstar writer Kieron Gillen and artists Carlos Pacheco & Greg Land, new leadership rises with a renewed, refocused, and re-imagined group of Uncanny mutants.

“Years of X-Men history have been leading to this. X-Men: ReGenesis will affect our entire line leading up to a major conflict coming up in 2012!” said Marvel Editor in Chief, Axel Alonso. “This is just the start of what we have planned for the X-Men. Next summer all eyes will be on mutantkind – we guarantee it!”

Two new teams lead mutantkind into an all new era and will have everyone asking “Who will you follow?” – only in Wolverine & The X-Men #1 and Uncanny X-Men #1!

HAUNT POSSESSES NEW CREATIVE TEAM

Joe Casey & Nathan Fox to Lead McFarlane’s HAUNT in a Darker New Direction

Berkeley, CA – 14 June 2011 –  A few days ago, USAToday announced that beginning with the 19th issue of HAUNT, Robert Kirkman and Greg Capullo will pass the torch to respected comics veterans Joe Casey (BUTCHER BAKER, THE RIGHTEOUS MAKER and GODLAND) and Nathan Fox (BLUE ESTATE, Florescent Black, and Pigeons From Hell). The pair, who previously collaborated on Marvel’s Dark Reign: Zodiac, are prepared to take Todd McFarlane’s HAUNT into even darker territory.

“Haunt is a great character and in the series Daniel and Kurt are really just getting started in the HAUNT legacy and folklore when Joe and I pick up in issue #19,” said Fox. “Artistically, I’m beyond excited to transition from where the creative team leaves off in issue #18 and then completely push HAUNT and the series to new extremes. Joe’s scripts and vision of where we’re headed is pretty rad to say the least, so for me, it is going to be an inspiring and happily busy monthly pace. Stay Tuned!”

“Opportunities like this — to take over an existing property so early in its existence — don’t come around too often, and we’re going to take full advantage,” explained Casey. “Todd and Robert created some great characters in the Kilgore brothers and Nathan and I are locked and loaded to put them through hell.  So let the games begin…!”
Industry legend and Image Comics founder, McFarlane (SPAWN), who co-created the HAUNT series and will continue to play an editorial role, is confident that the new creative team are more than equal to the task of scaring up some fantastic new storytelling for the series.

“Filling the shoes of Robert Kirkman and Greg Capullo is a hard task, but I feel very fortunate that the new team coming on will keep the book flying high,” McFarlane commented. “I see it going down the pathway of the original Spawn book. Haunt is not going away.  It’s the second monthly book I’ve put out of my company in 20 years that I intend on seeing all the way through to the end.”
HAUNT began with a story of two brothers, Daniel Kilgore, a priest, and Kurt Kilgore, a dangerous secret agent. When Kurt was murdered, his spirit did not leave the mortal world as it should have, but continued to hover around his brother, speaking to him… haunting him. When Daniel himself was attacked, the sudden trauma led him to discover that his recently deceased brother could join with him to become something else… HAUNT.

There are two previously collected volumes of HAUNT, with more issues available monthly. HAUNT #19 (JUL110423), a 32-page full-color horror comic book for $2.99, is available for order in the July edition of the Diamond Previews catalog, and will be in a comic store near you in September.

ABOUT NATHAN FOX

Nathan Fox was born in 1975 in Washington D.C.. Raised from the age of five on the suburban outskirts of Houston, an early addiction to Cartoons, Commercials and Video Games led to a lifelong exploration of Narrative Art and the over-stimulation associated with his generation.  In the hopes of making such an addiction his full time job, Nathan left Texas for Missouri where he attended the Kansas City Art Institute. What followed over the next four years can only be described as an eye opening experience compared to the somewhat quiet Southern upbringing. The discovery of Anime, Yoshitoshi’s Yukiyo-e Prints, Sideshows and Comics would lead him down the happily twisted path he still follows today. After graduating from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1997, Nathan pursued Illustration from Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the next two years with little result. Frustrated with pursuing editorial illustration and working as an offset pressman, he and his wife moved to New York City in 2000 where Nathan attended The School of Visual Arts Illustration As Visual Essay Graduate Program. Those two years of graduate study would prove to be the most fruitful as Nathan has been freelancing full time as an illustrator and storyteller ever since. His work has appeared in The New York Times Newspaper and Magazine, Interview, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Wired, ESPN Magazine, Print, Entertainment Weekly, Mother Jones, Spin, Mad Magazine, MTV Store Windows and Tshirts, Burton US Open 2009, Instant Winner and REAL Skateboards, DC Comics, Vertigo, Dark Horse Comics, Marvel and many other publications and mediums. Future projects include pursuing Comics, Narrative Illustration and Gallery Work. For further information, updates and samples of Nathan’s illustration work, Comics, Murals, Skate Decks and more, visit www.foxnathan.com on the World Wide Web.

DC #1s for the SUPER-family, SUICIDE SQUAD, and BLUE BEETLE.

DC has announced some more #1s (are there any more? I dunno) Including the SUPERMAN family books,  with two decidedly different takes on the Man of Steel by Perez and Morrison/Morales, A new SUICIDE SQUAD with some decidedly different takes on KING SHARK, DEADHSOT, and HARLEY QUINN, and a one title that has this IC reporter in a quandry…I LOVE Tony Bedard’s writing (and he’s a good guy), but we all know I’m a TED KORD guy. Well, Tony Bedard is writing the new BLUE BEETLE ongoing…and it’s Jaime Reyes as Beetle. Now, when I expressed my mixed feelings on facebook, Tony graciously thanked me for my compliments to him, and simply asked that I “…give Jaime a chance.”

So, we’ll see. But I still miss you, Ted!

Reed Gunther **NOT** Sold Out

Image Comics Trusts Market’s Potential to Buoy Three New All Ages Titles

BERKELEY, CA — 31 May 2011 – Following the overwhelmingly enthusiastic reception to both Robert Kirkman and Jason Howard’s SUPER DINOSAUR and Mark Andrew Smith and Armand Villavert’s GLADSTONE’S SCHOOL FOR WORLD CONQUERORS, Image Comics has decided to take a chance on significantly overprinting the first issue of its next new all ages title: REED GUNTHER. And because Image is ensuring plenty of copies will be available to reorder after initial orders have been made, REED GUNTHER #1 has not yet sold out!

Image hopes that retailers will take this opportunity to introduce new readers to Shane and Chris Houghton’s charming and colorful yarn by increasing their orders. Although initial orders from retailers are historically lower on new all ages titles than their PG-13 counterparts, the publisher believes the success of SUPER DINOSAUR and GLADSTONE’S SCHOOL FOR WORLD CONQUERORS proves that the comics market is opening up to more diversity in genre and readership. Retailers and fans were already given a glimpse of what sort of hijinks they’ll be in for with Reed and his unruly friends, when a preview of REED GUNTHER was published in the back of SUPER DINOSAUR #2 last week.

Sales and Licensing Coordinator Todd Martinez said, “As the experience of this year’s Free Comic Book Day event once again illustrated, readers want to be introduced to new material, and there are plenty of new readers to reach out to. REED GUNTHER is just the thing to show readers of any age who need a follow-up recommendation after Free Comic Book Day.”

REED GUNTHER is a humorous western tale of hapless cowboy Reed Gunther and his best friend and trusty steed, a no-fooling grizzly bear by the name of Sterling. Readers can soon share in the trouble-making and uproarious fun of the first issue, which includes plenty of close scrapes, a distressingly tough-as-nails damsel, stupid cows, and steak snacking snakes!

Writer Shane Houghton commented, “REED GUNTHER is all about fun. It’s a book about a cowboy that rides a grizzly bear, for pickle’s sake! There’s plenty of dark and serious comics out there, which is totally fine, but we’re hoping folks will enjoy balancing out their gritty and dramatic stories with some fun and goofy cowboy adventures!”

“Some comic book fans may be wary of our series at first because of the stigma that “all ages” really just means “for kids,” artist Chris Houghton added. “Never fear! REED GUNTHER wears it’s “all ages” title with accuracy, and I’m confident fans will respond positively to the series no matter their age.”

REED GUNTHER #1, a 32-page full-color all-ages western comedy for $2.99, will come galloping full speed into a comic store near you on June 1, 2011. For more information on Reed Gunther, Sterling, and all their unruly friends and foes, visit www.reedgunther.com.

SUPER DINOSAUR HAS BITE

Super Dinosaur #2 Sells Out, Goes Back to Press

BERKELEY, CA — 2 June 2011 — The speedy sellout of SUPER DINOSAUR #1 was no fluke: The second issue of Robert Kirkman and Jason Howard’s new all-ages superhero series has sold out at the distribution level and is heading back to press.

The second collaboration between the ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN team of Kirkman and Howard, SUPER DINOSAUR is an action-packed all-ages romp created with younger readers in mind, but with more than enough bite to appeal to more seasoned fans.

“A lot of times, people see ‘all-ages’ and think ‘kids’ book,’ but the whole point of a good all-ages book is that it’s geared toward readers of any age,” said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. “People tend to forget that all the classic superhero comics of the Silver and Bronze Ages were essentially all-ages comics, and SUPER DINOSAUR is very much in that vein. Robert and Jason wanted to create thrilling adventure stories that their children could read, whilst still crafting something meaty enough for older readers.”

“Jason and I are having a blast with SUPER DINOSAUR, and we couldn’t be happier that readers are responding to it the way they are,” added Kirkman. “We’re getting lots of mail from younger readers — lots of drawings and it feels really good to be doing something that has the potential to create a whole new generation of comic book fans.”

The second printing of SUPER DINOSAUR #2 (APR118191), a 32-page color comic book priced at $2.99 is available for re-order now with an in-store date of June 29, coinciding with the release of the third printing of SUPER DINOSAUR #1 (MAR118293) and SUPER DINOSAUR #3 (APR110522). For more information about Super Dinosaur, visit http://superdinosaur.com/.
