With two sweet covers featuring warriors and a mad wizard, you know you are in for a treat once you pick up these two issues of Valor! Valle’s art is pretty awesome throughout both issues, and at one point has the main character Griffon Caine reminding me of the character Cannonball from the X-Men. I personally always loved titles that feature swords and magic. And Valor is just one of those types that deliver just that! Reading 1 and 2 kept me well entertained from start to finish, as you don’t really want to put the book down at all. The King’s plan to sit back and watch while the Dwarves have issues makes me wonder if that’s going to turn out to be a rather bad plan in the end. But I’m hoping it won’t be! The characters Griffon Caine and Dwarven set out to free some slaves, and kick some butt while doing so! I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Bedlam either. I do know one thing; I can’t wait to check out the 3rd issue once it come out!

Flat Colors by: Leslie Valle

When I had seen this title around on line, I’ve been hoping to get a chance to review it. And luck was on my side! Layla’s Grand Adventure honestly kept me interested from start to finish. This is most definitely a title parents should read with their children! Oneida Valle’s writing is definitely something we all will be seeing for a long time in the comic book industry! Mike Valle’s art for this also attributed to the unique vibe I felt while reading this that had me wanting to smile despite Layla being in a jam. I can’t wait to find out if she’ll able to trust the giant who was willing to help her out. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Walter Koenig’s Things To Come #1

Blue Water Comics

Writer: Walter Koenig

Art: Juan Baez

Editor: Scott Davis

Colors: Jon Lyons

Letters: Bernie Lee

Reviewer: Robert McClelland

Walter Koenig and Juan Baez together manage to bring to life a tale of Survival after things have gone bad on Earth and those living on it. The cover for me kind of reminds me of a somewhat morbid look at a version of the Little Red Riding Hood, speaking of the Big Bad Wolf of course.  Juan Baez’ art, as well as the colors used by Jon Lyons goes well with the story Walter Koenig has brought to us.

I have to wonder just how much of a roll the young character Pele is going to have. And how much trouble the underground dwellers are going to have once they make it to the surface now that it’s apparently safe to go up there. Koenig shows a harsh reality in this setting with how a father would rather see his own kid dead, and just where are the Vampires going on their boat? The end for this has left me plenty curious, and I can’t wait to find out more. So don’t miss out on a great mystery here folks!

Da’Kota #1 and #2

What The Flux Comics

Creator and Artist: Terry Pavlet

Writer: Debra Joseph

Letterer: E.T. Dollman

Reviewer: Robert McClelland

Terry Pavlet has brought back Da’Kota for old readers to enjoy, as well as introducing it to new readers It’s a brilliant move by Terry. As it shows he has some dedication to Comics fans out there. And I believe his creation of Da’Kota will rank right up there with other Comic Hot Ladies. And what I’m enjoying about this, aside from her being a bounty hunter who doesn’t stop is that she has a Velociraptor for a pet and it just happens to be her ride as well! The Dino’s name Coya. I just find that to be seriously awesome! I’m sure those of you who enjoy comics in black and white form will also like this title a lot as well. Living in a time where the Earth has changed drastically, giving a new take on dealing with interesting challenges. Such as a giant sand burrowing creature that Da’Kota totally kicks the butt of! And boy does that creature look like a “certain alien”. Terry Pavlet in this reviewers opinion has come up with a great concept, and having Debra Joseph along for the ride makes this even better.

I’m rather curious about someone named Cha’Kota who helped provide Da’Kota with the life she now has. I like when stories feature how mankind has been able to survive after radical changes in the Earth.  Course it doesn’t help when Wealth turns one into a greedy person. I have noticed some spelling errors, but that doesn’t even take away the enjoyment of the story being told in 1 and 2. I love that there is aspects of Tribal Mysticism involved in the world of Da’Kota. I can’t wait to find out when she’ll get another chance with the Flying Jaguar Man! Or if she’s able to free him instead of having to outright kill him. Don’t miss out on Da’Kota folks! This title is definitely worth reading!

Baltimore The Curse Bells

Dark Horse

Apparently I missed the beginning to this as there were 5 books prior to this that tell the story between the two characters that are the focus of the overall story – Lord Baltimore and the Ancient Vampire Haigus. The end of World War I was brought about by a plague and that all the horror, death and destruction had awakened far fouler things. I found that in reading it I was given enough information that it didn’t matter that I had missed the first miniseries.  Oddly enough I enjoyed Mignola & Golden’s storytelling & writing, I was intrigued enough to read through the entire comic to see where he was headed with it and I was pulled along by Ben Stenbeck’s art, which is a nice tip of the hat to Mignola’s

own style. I am actually looking forward to seeing what transpires between Lord Baltimore and the Ancient Vampire Haigus.

I give this Book a – Full Price seal of approval.
