The offspring of Supes and Bats have made quite the name for themselves these days. So enter DC’s next big hit series, Super Sons #1. Could you imagine if DC/Warner Bros ever got their act together and made an amazing “Spielberg” feel/type of Super Sons film? It would appeal to everyone. Everyone, meaning tapping the young audience and female audience. It would be the equivalent of Marvel’s Power Pack. We said it years ago about Power Pack for Marvel, what is Disney waiting for? Super Sons #1 from writer Peter J Tomasi and artist Jorge Jimenez.
Jim Lee’s Wildstorm will be reintroduced to comic book fans. This time as Wild Storm. They made a bold new change and made Wildstorm two words. Crazy right?? Anyway, Wild Storm #1 will bring writer Warren Ellis on board along with artist Jon Davis-Hunt. Creator of Wildstorm, Jim Lee, has a variant accompanying the big release, but it’s the regular Jon Davis-Hunt cover that will have fans really turning their heads.

We pointed out the love we had for the new DC Odyssey Of The Amazons series. We also pointed out the possible plethora of new characters that will appear within this series. This Wednesday, Odyssey Of The Amazons #2 will be more of the same. Great storytelling and new characters, what more does one need?
A new story begins in Justice League #15, ‘Timeless’. A possible first appearance here. The new storyline will be brought to us by Bryan Hitch (writer) and Fernando Pasarin (artist).

Before reading ahead, we feel we need to warn you that our articles contain very harsh truths in them. Not vulgar language, just a good solid dose of honesty. They always have, they always will. If you are easily offended, cannot come to terms that other people have opinions too beside yourself and especially if you’re a fanboy, discontinue reading. Go back to the other places selling you the farm. This is NOT the place for you. We’re here to have fun and not lie to you. Thank you and enjoy!

Once Our Land #1 – Another good story from Scout Comics and another short print run is causing some waves in the aftermarket. This sold out comic will be sought after like the other very very successful Scout Comic; Henchgirl. Henchgirl has blown up on Ebay and InvestComics had your back since issue one with that series.

Norman #2 – We asked that you check out Norman #1 as it was sold out before it hit the new comics shelf. Interesting sadistic story. The same applies here with issue number two. Titans Comics has a hit on their hands because Norman #2 is also sold out. Short print run here will put it in demand.

Betty & Veronica #1 – Adam Hughes begins his writing and art on this new Archie series. 20+ variants are available for your picking. The regular Hughes cover rocks in our opinion and is the best of the overzealous variant print run. Regardless of variants, this series will will something for both the reader and speculator. Archie Comics hits a home run here.

Snotgirl #1 – This awesome title alone will turn heads on Wednesday. Look for this title to be a possible sleeper. New artist Leslie Hung looks like a winner and writer Bryan Lee O’Malley will give us a story that entails a beautiful woman, a social media star, with an allergy problem. A booger problem. So gross, yet so inviting.

Brickleberry #1 – The Dynamite Entertainment B&W variant offering of this comic is sold out. A good read in store for us.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Wolverine Origins #1 (CGC 9.8) Signed by Joe Quesada. Granted this comic doesn’t really hold any big significance in the collectors market, but it is an upper grade Wolverine comic signed by Joe Quesada for only $84.96! That’s a great buy. Get it before it’s gone.

InvestComics gave a heads up to readers and speculators back in January regarding recent news from Marvel within the past few days. How do we know or do this so often? We’re good at this. We gave our fans a heads up in January’s InvestComics Hot Picks #409 (and MANY times thereafter) about Deadpool And The Mercs For Money #1. Not so much about how awesome this series would be, but about the supporting cast. We said (again, in MANY articles following HP #409) that Deadpool was setting up his crew members for possible books themselves. Well, it’s happening. Solo, Slapstick, and Foolkiller will be getting their own titles. Not many of their first appearances available on Ebay since we tipped everyone off, but try anyway, click those links or comic covers. Anyway, back to this coming Wednesday. Deadpool And The Mercs For Money Vol 2 #1 will hit. We say pick this comic and series up because it’s going to be a blast like the first volume.
New Stormtroopers and a new artist; Jorge Molina. Star Wars #21. We’re right there.
Spider-Man #6, Miles Morales chooses a side in Civil War II.
If you’re a Namor fan and are still reeling from his untimely death, worry no more. Squadron Supreme #9 will be your prelude to ‘Finding Namor’. Not Nemo silly….Namor.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay.

The new Batman title is sort of picking up where the last series left off. Not in the sense of storyline, but in regards to the demand and attention it’s getting. Writer Tom King and artist’s David Finch/Matt Batt Banning are maintaining a level of interest for the readers as well as some speculators. We will keep informing speculators that we think it’s just a question of time before Gotham and Gotham Girl get their own solo or team-up title. These are early appearances by the hot new duo in Gotham. Batman #3 out this Wednesday, get them while you can.
Harley Quinn is the focal point in the last issue of New Suicide Squad. Check out New Suicide Squad #22 and see how it all ends…..for now.
DC’s Justice League #1 comes with creative firepower. Bryan Hitch writes and Tony Daniel draws the pictures.

Does it get any better, seriously, than Betty & Veronica #1 this Wednesday? Adam Hughes writes and pencils this awesomeness from Archie Comics. A ridiculous amount of variants to choose from, 20+ at last count, but our fav is the regular Adam Hughes cover!
Dynamite Entertainment’s Brickleberry #1 looks interesting. Definite check out on the shelf material. Remember, no reading comics by the new comics! Glance through….they’re watching you.
The new Image Comics title will have all the new comic buyers turning their heads and saying, ‘huh?’ out loud. Check out Snotgirl #1. Yes that’s right, Snotgirl. Not a typo. Not Shotgirl, Snot. As in booger. A gorgeous female lead character with an allergy problem. Yes for real. This is a definite pick-up on Wednesday.
Valiant Entertainment did extremely well with their first Faith mini-series. Now witness Faith’s first ongoing series ever with Faith Vol 2 #1. This series will fair well with fans, they’ve taken a tremendous liking to the Faith character. Look for the introduction of a new villain in this issue as well. Plenty of great variants to choose from.

Good luck getting this book at cover price.

Then there is this little boy named Norman we warned you about (Norman #1) last month. A sadistic-psychopath little boy that kills people. Titan Comics releases Norman #2 and this is sold out already.
Action Lab/Danger Zone continue to put out quality/fun comics every week. Their new release Oblivion #1 is no exception. Tim Seeley writing with artist Romina Moranelli. Looks like that George Takei variant image cover will be in demand too.

Amazing Spider-Man #15 – We see a possible sign as to why this comic is still on the board. A month a ago, actually a week ago, this comic would have sold out in a hurry. Maybe there is a larger print run here. If not, there could be that proverbial wall that’s arrived within the speculation market. Maybe, just maybe Marvel comics has gone to the well too many times here. Gwenpool, Spider-Gwen, and now Mary Jane throws on the Iron Spider-Armor. It’s possible speculators are done with the female character gimmick……for now. That can all change in a snap, so do not sleep on the new Mary Jane Iron Spidey or anything else just yet! The J. Scott Campbell and Michael Turner variants are commanding some high aftermarket prices on Ebay already. Click the comic or the red link and see for yourself.

Justice League Rebirth #1 – The same applies here as the above. A sell-out here was almost a certainty. Let us remind you, both of these comics can sell out anyway, but we’re talking before Wednesday’s new comic day. Bryan Hitch (artist/writer) will deliver the goods on this comic, so definitely get your read on.

Batman #2 – Without hesitation we will announce a Gotham, Gotham Girl team-up book or solo books in the future (as we have announced a Gwenpool and Spider-Gwen team-up to appear in the Deadpool/Spider-Man series. Boy will that turn the heads of the speculators). Get in on the ground floor with these new characters now before you’re possibly paying triple cover price in the aftermarket for early issues of Batman Rebirth.

Walking Dead #156 – A big story line in Image Comics’ flagship title is not sold out? Hmm…..Walking Dead fans were put on alert from InvestComics on Thursday regarding a major plot twist/change happening in this title. Has Walking Dead finally reached that point of interest waning a bit? Again, it could sell out eventually, but not as of right now.

Kim & Kim #1 – A new Black Mask comic. Watch it disappear of the shelf. If not, who cares? They put out interesting titles!

IC 100 Club Pick: All-Star Comics #58 (1976) graded 8.0. Here is a beauty that was just graded a few months ago and is up for a buy it now price of only $94.99. For those of you who don’t know, this comic is special because it holds the first appearance of Power Girl. Power Girl is a very relevant player within the DC Universe, so this is a nice grade at a nice price. If you’re in the market for a nice Bronze Age first appearance, this is it.

Before reading ahead, we feel we need to warn you that our articles contain very harsh truths in them. Not vulgar language, just a good solid dose of honesty. They always have, they always will. Almost every week there is one book that stands alone as a book to truly speculate on. We say “almost” because sometimes there are weeks that go by without that one book. This week we have that ONE book. Amazing Spider-Man #15 gets the honors as the InvestComics Hot Pick of the week. Marvel has seen success beyond their dreams sticking Gwen in a Deadpool like costume. Now it’s time to get Mary Jane into one. This costume however is one we’re all very familiar with. How about the Iron Spider Armor? Yes the same armor Stark made for Peter back in Civil War #3 (2006). It’s been 10 years since fans absolutely drooled over the late Michael Turner variant cover of Spider-Man donning his new threads. Peter did however first wear the Iron Spider Armor in Amazing Spider-Man #529 (2006). It’s that Civil War issue that still gets lots of attention till this day. This time around, Alex Ross takes care of the beautiful Amazing Spider-Man #15 cover with Mary Jane donning the new(old) threads. The J. Scott Campbell variant is sold out and it’s a beauty too! Do yourself a solid and buy the new Amazing Spider-Man issue this Wednesday.

The new Silver Surfer #5 promises something big and that cover probably has someone in there you know.
The realism in Esad Ribic’s work is astounding. Check out the Civil War II Kingpin #1 variant cover.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All available sellers on Ebay.

DC Comics;
Justice League Rebirth #1. Bryan Hitch – writer/artist. New beginnings for our favorite DC team.
DC Rebirth has really hit its stride. Despite all of the fanboys whining, they’re buying these new comics up. So much so that second and third printings are the norm for the publisher. We informed readers that the new Batman would be one to watch because of the intro of two new characters, although already first appearing in DC Universe: Rebirth #1. It sold out very quick and now Batman #2 hits this Wednesday. DC knows that readers are very interested in the new players, so they put them on the cover for the second issue in a row, displaying them as Batman ‘God’ like. The new characters ‘Gotham’ and ‘Gotham Girl’ will probably spin into their own series in the not too distant future, so we suggest you get on these early issues of their first arc/appearances.

Very much like the fanboy reaction to Rebirth, those same knuckleheads are complaining about DC’s revamping of the Hanna-Barbera line. Making it more realistic,grown-up, humanizing….today. We already covered the ridiculous notion that everything is so sacred within the comic book industry when Future Quest and Scobby-Doo came out. We’ll do it once again in case some may have forgotten. Feel free to pass this advice to a fanboy you may know. Nothing is sacred anymore. Money is more important in today’s society, therefore nothing is off limits. We know it’s pretty harsh to hear that, but it’s the truth. The sooner you except this, the sooner the whining and complaining will subside. Your cries are falling on deaf ears, DC or any comic company making tons of dough does not care what you feel about Fred Flintstone and what that cartoon meant to you as a child. They do however care about that yacht payment. If you’re one of these banana’s screaming about the sacred books of The Flintstones, remember you have comics dating all the way back to 1961 you can choose from to read(?). Are you really reading Flintstones comics as an adult though? Probably not, so how does this affect you again? Oh, yes yes you throw the “I have kids! How dare they do this! How are my kids supposed to know of the REAL Flintsones?!”card. Again, you there are Flintstones comics available from every decade since 1961. Relax, they’ll know if you try hard enough. If you want Captain America or Superman back in their red underwear costumes, go make your own movie. Harsh reality is that times have changed and if you do not change with them, you’re the heel. Money drives in 2016, not nostalgia. Nostalgia doesn’t play the mortgage, light bill, car payment, etc. The ‘bottom line’ is what drives business. So with that mindset, trying new things or tweaking old things is the new way, enter Flintstones #1. All of the new Hanna-Barbera titles will feature creative superstars. This new series will have Mark Russell on writing duties and Steve Pugh on pencils. So as a comic fan we are all in here! As a speculative fan, well that’s a bit different. Who’s to say the new Flintstones comic doesn’t revitalize the franchise and drive the market up? Not likely, but could happen. There isn’t much of a market for back issue Flintstones comics nor was there a demand for it, so thinking that one of the seven or so variants will retain or gain monetary value is more likely to not happen than to happen. Which by the way, the Ivan Reid selfie variant cover is fantastic. We look forward to reading this comic and so should you!

Here are some fantastic indie comics headed your way!
Story line alert! A possible MAJOR twist coming in Walking Dead #156.
With much success comes many copycats. InvestComics knows this all too well regarding our site, but we’re talking about the recent influx of the female comic character and its success rate. Marvel continues to produce a new female character at an alarming rate. Their success, most of the time sets the precedence for the rest of the industry. Dark Horse jumps into the game with Bounty #1. Written by Kurtis Wiebe and drawn by Mindy Lee.
Remember when the Lone Ranger was a hot book a few years back? Man we wonder what happened to all of those who went full tilt and bought those variants at premium prices. Anyway, readers should be happy to know that The Lone Ranger will be coming back this week…….with company. Not Tonto, Lone Ranger Green Hornet #1.

The creative team of Brenden Fletcher and Annie Wu will be on Black Canary #1. Writer Brenden Fletcher has turned things around for the Batgirl title and looks to make some noise with this title. A great read coming here.

Look for a quick sell out as Amanda Conner leads the way with Harley Quinn and Power Girl #1. Always a great book with all the girls; Amanda, Harley, and Power Girl.

Justice League of America #1 features superstar creator Bryan Hitch as writer/artist. A fantastic way to kick things off. Having over 9 variant covers is not. The over saturated variant cover market is taking a huge hit these days. There are too many variant copies with no takers. Too many times dealers are either left with them or the “want to be speculator” is left with them. There is an art to collecting the variant market. Not every single variant will produce an aftermarket buzz. Be vigilant in knowing the difference in a variant comic and a hot aftermarket variant cover. About 4 or so months ago, an $800 Spider-Gwen variant existed. That same 9.8 sold for $575 yesterday. All the other 9.8’s within the $550-$700 range last sold in either March or April. The same with all the Star Wars variants. Those were a hot ticket when it hit. The thing InvestComics pointed out with that comic was this; if the guts (inside) of the comic brings nothing relative to the market, be it an introduction, a new villain, a new plot twist, or anything pertaining to the possibility that it will appear in the new film, then you are dead. Too many copies having the exact same guts brings nothing to the speculative table except for those nice covers. Covers don’t sell books. At first they may, eventually there will have to be substance. Although a fantastic story is told in Star Wars #1, all 100+ variants are the same story. This is only one of the few factors in buying variant comics. And as for the Spider-Gwen, the market is correcting itself. While the inside offers the first appearance, the market is a bit out of its league right now. Don’t get caught up in the hyperbole. So let’s circle all the way back around, if Justice League of America #1 has something to offer on the inside of all of those pretty covers, then you’re on to something. If it’s just great storytelling from Bryan Hitch with no significant introduction or otherwise, you have yourself a nice variant for $50 that will be worth $10 in six months time. Be aware of what you are buying.

A new 12 issue series from DC; Prez #1 will be on the shelf this Wednesday. Last we checked, Prez #1 (1973) was a he not a she. Every new comic these days seems to be an introduction of a new female character or what was once a HE is now a SHE to some degree. Thor, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Iron Man, Nova, etc….

Writer Paul Levitz brings Doctor Fate #1 to life. Always a great read with Paul at the helm.

Finishing out the DC number one issues; Doomed #1 and Martian Manhunter #1

A speculative book to watch for this Wednesday will be Wonder Woman #41. A new villain is introduced. Must check this one out. The Brian Bolland variant (cover B) is quite awesome. Here is a perfect example of what was spoken about earlier regarding variants. The guts of this comic has something to offer. Although the variant is a cover B cover price, if it was a $15 variant, it may be worth the pick up. Something more to offer than a pretty cover. The print run is a huge factor in the variant market as well. Like I said, there are a few mitigating factors that go into purchasing a variant comic.

Marvel’s Deadpool Secret Secret Wars #2 will be part of the Spider-Gwen craze. How about Gwenpool? Spider-Gwen as Deadpool sounds like a match made in aftermarket heaven doesn’t it? Let’s see if Gwenpool ever gains traction, if she does, she first appears right on the cover as part of the Gwen cover variants all over Marvel’s books right now. Only one of these available on Ebay right now.

Squadron Sinister #1 looks like a great book. Probably looking at a second print here soon. Check out the first appearance “cameo” of Squadron Sinister in Avengers #69 (1969) (Last page). First full appearance in Avengers #70 (1969).

Marvel’s Runaways comic back in 2003 was a hot ticket at one time. Runaways will get their restart button pushed with Runaways #1 this Wednesday. First appearing in Runaways #1 (2003) with writer Brian K Vaughan. Many first appearances throughout all of the Runaway titles. The variant this Wednesday is sold out.

A real cool book with lots of different Thor characters. What’s not to love? Thors #1 will be a great read and as always with these new titles and relaunches, look out for the sneaky hot intro.

Teen Titans #44 (1)Welcome to the InvestComics Hot Picks

…….15 days to get to 2000 Likes on Facebook. Getting to 2000 Likes means that if you share any InvestComics social media you become eligible to win a signed George Perez Tales of the Teen Titans #44, which just happens to be the first appearance of Nightwing. January 20th is the cutoff date, let’s get there!

There are certain characters within the realm of the comic book world that simply do not have the guns to hold their own monthly series. These characters are fantastic supporting heroes/villains, but simply lack that certain something to appeal to the masses. Ghost Rider, Vision, Namor, Supergirl, just to name few. Let me reiterate, these characters are awesome, they have found some success in their own way, but have either been short lived or became a flavor of the month type deal (See Aquaman). Do they deserve a better fate? Sometimes yes, and sometimes not. If you are a regular reader around here you will know that this speculator is still very high on one of these “b/c rate” characters; Moon Knight. With the influx of the movie and television comic lure, it’s very easy to say that any of the background music characters can breakout at any time (see Vibe). Moon Knight in my opinion will breakout eventually, so watch him. Been saying it for years and I warned you on Deathstroke years ago as well. So pay attention here.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 1/8/13

[scrollGallery id=329]

The same certainty cannot be said for this week’s new flavor; Black Widow. Although our Russian bombshell will debut with her own solo series this week; Black Widow (2014) #1 I will point out one certainty that will make a speculator cringe a bit. The Black Widow has starred in over 14 self-titled projects, either by way of limited series or solo series. This is of course not counting the dozens of team-ups she’s been involved in. So what does this tell us? Exactly what I explained a couple of minutes ago. BW lacks something to have her own thing on-going. Great limited series character, great teammate, but not a solo artist. She needs a band and she needs to be the backup singer. The movie appearances have spiked her first appearance a bit, and interest in the character, but not enough to warrant a solo series. Will the series do well at first? Yes it will. It will come out like gangbusters, but will succumb to mediocrity. It happens all the time with these types of characters. Even my breakout character pick Moon Knight. The difference however is that Black Widow will not eventually have her own film and compete with DC’s Dark Knight. Moon Knight will do just that, BW will not. Yes that’s right, been saying this for years and years, Moon Knight will be Marvel’s answer to Batman on the big screen. You’ll see. Anyway back to Black Widow. As stated before, the series will be a hot one out of the gate. There is no denying it. With writer Nathan Edmondson and artist Phil Noto at the helm, it will be a hot book. That’s also not discounting the variants accompanying the debut issue. The prize variant goes to the amazing Scott J. Campbell. You can get the variant and flip this graded bad boy for a few bucks in your pocket. Please do so quickly. The series will not sustain its interest long enough with speculators to shell out big bucks for this variant. BW’s first solo comic came out back in 1990’s graphic novel: Black Widow: The Coldest War. Her first appearance came in Tales of Suspense #52 (1964). The TOS comic will always be the one to have. You simply cannot go wrong with names like Lee, Kirby, and Heck attached to a first appearance.

In the midst of all the hoopla surrounding the “ALL-NEW NOW” absurdity there will be a nice little nugget hidden away in A Plus X (2012 Marvel Now) #16. This comic debuts the writing talents of Jeff Loveness. Jeff is the writer of the highly successful late night Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show. Does this mean anything in the grand scheme of things? Not really. What if though Jeff hits the right chord with fans? Well, this will be where it all started for him in the comic book world!

Now back to the “ALL NEW NOW!” ridiculousness. I will refrain from making this a long dissertation, but ALL NEW NOW!? This is the equivalent of having DC Comics pull an ALL NEW 52! Absurd. What happens when Marvel decides they need to change things up again? ALL NEW NEW NOW!? Anyway…..

All New Marvel Now Point One (2013) #1 features many of our beloved Marvel heroes/villains in a new way. Is this really necessary? Don’t matter, sales from the sold out Steve McNiven variant states differently from my thoughts here. All New X-Factor (2014) #1 has sold out across the board. Every variant is completely gone. The All New X-Factor will be a successful book, not only because it’s X-Factor, because Mr. X-Factor writer himself Peter David will be on board. This isn’t the first time Peter David has done an All New X-Factor comic. Back in 1991 he revamped the team in issue number 71; the caption on top reads “The All New….” Not only is this comic the first TRUE All New X-Factor, but it’s also the team that will probably appear in the movie. X-Factor #71 will be the go to book in the long run. The variants coming this Wednesday are great flip books to stock pile on the 1991 issue. The first appearance of X-Factor comes from this series in 1986.

Avengers World (2013) #1 is also a sold out comic this week. Look for the Arthur Adams’ variants to maximize you dollars on this one.

Cataclysm Ultimates Last Stand (2013) #3 will feature a death. Keep your eyes peeled for any surprises. It can be one of those books you see on the local news. Doubt it, but you never know.

The most interesting comic this week has to be Marvel’s Revolutionary War Alpha (2014) #1. It’s the first time in a long time that many UK Marvel heroes will be banding together to fight a threat. Captain Britain would make a spectacular hero on the movie screen wouldn’t he? Maybe Marvel/Disney will someday explore the possible international heroes they have at their disposal one day on film (now watch how many articles come out regarding a wish list of Marvel/Disney international movies. InvestComics leads I tell ya!). So with the ultra-cool Revolutionary War Alpha (2014) #1 coming out this week, it’s always fun to take a look at who is on the team and where they debuted. Below is a quick list and gallery showing who will appear in the comic and their first appearance. From the speculator side, I would without a shadow of a doubt pick these comics up. From a pure gut here, I think Marvel/Disney may be testing the waters with interest to the International scene. Will it deem worthy that they pursue a Captain Britain movie? Who knows?  Happy hunting though!

[scrollGallery id=328]

Captain Britain – First appeared in Captain Britain #1 (1976). Writer Chris Claremont and artist Herb Trimpe! A newspaper print comic cover to cover. Hard to find in Near Mint shape. The Marvel Team-Up with Spider-Man is also dubbed the first appearance of the UK Cap.

Death’s Head – Some controversy surrounds the first appearance here, but many say that the Transformers (UK) #117 from 1987 is the first appearance of DH.

Pete Wisdom – Debuted in Excalibur #86 (1995). Writer Warren Ellis, nuff said.

Motormouth and Killpower – Both debuted in Motormouth #1 (1992). Art by Gary Frank.

Warheads – This team has 10 members in it. All 10 first appeared in this comic. Some died (which means nothing these days really). So the debut of all of these dudes and an appearance from Wolverine. Nice huh?

Get your hands on the Revolutionary War Alpha #1 incentive variant, get some creator signatures (witnessed of course), grade it and sit on in for a while. It could be more valuable later on down the line when Marvel/Disney decide on to crossing international lines.

So what about DC Comics this week? Lots of Marvel Comics talk! Batman Superman (2013 DC) #7 leads the way with a cool sideways issue. Yes this is not a ground breaking gimmick at all, but still very cool nonetheless. InvestComics covered the sideways comic issue in the IC Hot Picks #293 article when DC decided to do the sideways thing with Batman Superman #5. Nothing like killing a unique thing now is there? Fantastic Four was the first major comic to be published in this format. Fantastic Four #252 (1983) is still the mecca of all sideway comics. The X-Factor sideway comic was pretty neat too.

Detective Comics (2011 2nd Series) #27 is an extra mega-sized anniversary issue with a who’s who guest list of creators. Check out the debut of a new storyline “Gothtopia” and a retelling (for the umpteenth time) of Batman’s origin from two heavy weights Brad Meltzer and Bryan Hitch. All this for a hefty $7.99….ouch.

Vampire Diaries (2013) #1 photo variant is sold out. Get the stars of the show to sign this cover and grade it. That’s a nice sale to a Vampire Diaries fan!

Check out the rest of the new comics coming your way this week. All nearing sell outs or sold out at the distributor already. Fracture (2013) Volume 2 #1 from Action Lab Entertainment. Kudos to Action, they have been doing very well with their sell outs. Lil Vampi (2014) #1 (Dynamite Entertainment), B.A.R. Maid (2013 Zenescope) #1, Cavewoman Labyrinth (2013) #0 (Amryl Entertainment), and Minimum Wage (2013 Image) #1.

Submit or Perish! This Is The AGE OF ULTRON

Superstars Brian Michael Bendis & Bryan Hitch Set The Marvel Universe On A Path of No Return

New York. NY—November 19, 2012— This March, enter the darkest days of the Marvel Universe as Earth’s Mightiest fight for survival in Age of Ultron #1 as they’re faced with only two choices—Submit Or Perish! From the blockbuster creative team of Brian Michael Bendis (All New X-Men, Avengers, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man), Bryan Hitch (Ultimates, Fantastic Four), Carlos Pacheco (Uncanny X-Men) & Brandon Peterson (AvX: VS) comes an event years in the making pitting the Marvel Universe against one of their greatest threats! Ultron, a deadly sentient robot created by founding Avenger Hank Pym who turned on his creator to achieve his twisted  objective…the utter destruction of humanity. Now that Ultron has conquered, enslaving most of the world’s Super Heroes, it’s up to a small group of resistance fighters—including Invisible Woman, Taskmaster, Beast, Emma Frost, She-Hulk, Luke Cage, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Moon Knight—to find a way overcome darkness and bring hope back a world that has suddenly lost everything. Once this landmark ten-issue event concludes, the reverberations will be felt in every corner of the Marvel Universe, leaving no hero or villain unscathed.

“From the very first page, readers will see the unthinkable – Ultron has won,” said Axel Alonso, Editor In Chief, Marvel Entertainment. “In a world where we’ve learned to depend on technology to sustain us, what would happen if one villain found a way to turn it against us?  In order to survive, the world’s greatest super heroes will have to make drastic choices whose ramifications will be felt throughout the Marvel Universe.  This is a story so huge that we’re shipping the entire ten issue series from March through June so fans don’t have to wait more than a few weeks between issues.”

Earlier this  year on Free Comic Book Day, fans all over the world experienced Age of Ultron #0.1, a special lead-in to this event by Bendis and Hitch, that hinted at the plans Ultron has in store for the Marvel Universe.

“In the vein of Infinity Gauntlet, Secret Invasion and Civil War, Age of Ultron is a massive Marvel Universe-spanning Event,” explained Bendis. “One of our most famous villains, Ultron, the super artificial intelligence, has fulfilled his destiny and taken the Earth. This story touches every corner of the Marvel Universe and will have an amazing effect on things going forward. We have taken the time to do this right- everything is gorgeous, every page matters, and most of all- something I’m very proud of- is that it will be shipping at a furious pace. Every day for the last year and a half people have been asking me when this story will come and I’m thrilled to announce that it is here.”

Can the remaining heroes of the Marvel Universe scramble to find a glimmer of hope or some way to fight back. Scattered across the ruined Earth, they’ll have to journey to all corners and find a way to defeat the robotic revolution…no matter the cost. But do they realize that the cost of saving Earth might be their very souls?

This March, Brian Michael Bendis, Bryan Hitch, Carlos Pacheco & Brandon Peterson bring fans the event they’ve been clamoring for in Age of Ultron!

InvestComics Comic Hot Pick 2-13-08

An under ordered pre Secret Invasion comic equals $$$$$$

Nova # 3 (Vol 5)

Nova Makes his InvestComics debut! This week Marvel has 2 great releases that could have made the Hot Pick page, but only one made it. Fantastic Four # 554 is an awesome pick for a good hold and sell. Bryan Hitch and Mark Millar make their debut and it promises to be a great ride, but Nova # 3 promises to be a better one!

This issue has already sold out at Diamond as the Marvel hype machine begins to churn. Marvel notified dealers to order heavy and the dealers have responded. Marvel is stating that this issue starts the Secret Invasion storyline. They also say that there is a HUGE plot development (A major Skrull reveal?). This comic just might fly under the radar as far as collectors go. A miss of this issue for the modern investor is a big possibility. A low print run is a possibility as well. Nova was not pulling in huge numbers, so Marvel sent out their usual print run and are sold out.

This issue is a going to be in some serious demand once the Invasion begins. It’s going to be in some serious demand before the Invasion as well. Look to buy this issue and sell it on Ebay within the week of it’s release. It’s easily $10 book within it’s first week. Look for it to gradually gain momentum as The Secret Invasion hits. If The Secret Invasion chronicle takes off (which it probably will) Nova #3 is going to be the next She Hulk Civil War book. Buy  Nova #3, Buy, Buy, Buy……

Invest wisely.
