Star Wars #7 will be a special one shot story on Ben Kenobi. Take a look at Kenobi ala’ yesteryear. We get to witness a young Ben Kenobi and the bad as* he really is (assuming he’s a bad as*). This one shot story will be brought to us by the creative team of Simone Bianchi (artist) and writer Jason Aaron. Look for this Star Wars comic to sell out quick. If the aftermarket bust loose a bit on this, sell at a high point, do not wait for “more money”. Remember you paid only $4.99 for the comic. Greed not only kills, it leaves you with a lot of comic books you cannot move. Plenty of variants to choose from as well. A $100 John Cassaday sketch variant looks nice, but pricey.

IDW Publishing has a hit on their hands; Shrinking Man #1. This comic comes from the best selling author Richard Matheson. He’s written some big boy books with no pictures; I Am Legend, A Stir Of Echoes, What Dreams May Come, Somewhere In Time, The Last Man on Earth, Duel, and the list goes on. Both the regular and variant comics are sold out. Probably a good idea to grab one of these. Not only for the speculative aspect, but it’s going to be a great read too.

When the Sex Criminals book came out it was well received in the aftermarket. The announcement of a possible TV option made things out of control in a hurry. It is now possible to buy a number one 9.8 graded copy on Ebay at $99 or less (including variants). Then there is Sex Criminals #11 coming this Wednesday. There will be five variants accompanying the next five comic releases of Sex Criminals (Thank you to Larry’s Comics for the correction on this from the earlier posting of this article). All five will be poly-bagged because of the extreme mature sexual content on its covers. The covers will be “covered” when shipped in a polybag. Understood the story of this comic brings this type of outrageous shock value, but a severe gimmick here to lure fanboys to buy a comic they really don’t need. We’re quite sure the covers are probably fantastic artistic covers, but XXX covers? The controversy and interest these comics probably stir up will be the driving force behind any speculative aftermarket bump. Controversy sells, but at the end of the line, controversy simmers down and no one cares eventually. Larry does say that he feels the sketch cover will command your attention. Listen to Larry, he knows the deal.

Click on any RED link or comic cover in the article to buy/bid on the comic right now. A new page will open, so you will not lose your place here.

Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #3 will feature a new costume for Deadpool and it looks very familiar. The cover alone here will garner interest from fans, so it’s a safe bet to pick this one up and enjoy it. A sell out will probably occur here.

Groot Thor dons the variant cover from the awesome Dale Keown. Yes Groot Thor in Thors #3, you read that right. A $15 variant. This is just too cool and silly at the same time.

Dive into Black Widow’s past; Black Widow #20. A semi-origin story on Natasha Romanoff. Should be an interesting read.

Hacktivist #1 Vol. 2 from Boom Studios is sold out. Regular cover and variants. Robin Son Of Batman #2 introduces Dragon’s Head. The Justice League Gods and Monsters DVD is awesome, get that right HERE. The Justice League Gods and Monsters Superman #1; Darwyn Cooke variant is sold out as is IDW’s Ghostbusters Get Real #2 EC variant. A bunch of DC Annuals hit this week. Deathstroke Annual #1 is a standout. Artist Tony Daniel will bring it as he always does on this title.

Secret Wars #1 Comicxposure Gabriele Dell Otto variant has been long since sold out. How about winning one from InvestComics? Thanks to Comicxposure this will happen! Stay tuned to the InvestComics website for details!

After the explosions on July fourth this weekend, seems there is nothing that will resemble the output within the speculative market this coming Wednesday, but there are some potential comics and as always some fantastic reading gets.

There is no shortage of the ridiculous variant craze coming on new comic book day this week. If you would buy all the variants between Archie #1 and Star Wars Lando #1 you’d wind up in the neighbor of about 40 comics (probably more actually). That’s 40 comics on two comic releases alone. Absurd right?

But as many would know from reading the InvestComics article on a weekly basis, there is ONE exception. ONE reason that would make any of these variants worth exploring and buying, ONE reason. Anyone recall what the InvestComics rule would be? That rule will always be (from a speculative viewpoint), the guts. Yes the outside is fancy and new on every single one of the variants. Some catch the eye of the collector, they buy it thinking they got themselves the next big thing on Ebay. Maybe for a moment that holds true (see Star Wars #1), but in the long market (buy market), we see nothing but a trophy wife. Pretty on the outside, but no substance for your self being. If a comic upon its release carries an absurd amount of variants (Star Wars #1) and you’re looking OR thinking you’re to make any kind of speculative cash 25, 35, 50 years from now on that Star Wars #1 variant, you’re missing the entire point of collecting. A couple of rules here; remember to buy a variant first and foremost because you LIKE it, not because it’s going to be worth money. Secondly, if that very expensive variant is calling you out and the resistance is very strong, you have an option to buy it because you really really like it or you can not get it because you think it’s going to be worth a lot of money someday. Newsflash, it’s not. Unless that ONE thing….the guts. As InvestComics has taught readers time and time again, it’s the inside that matter. Always will be. Unless it’s some obscure 3D Deadpool cover. This does happen from time to time, where a variant breaks out on its own due to its “looks”. The only way a variant will truly stand the test of time is because of the story on the inside. There must be an introduction or a uniqueness about it. Either one of these two characteristics will carry a modern comic. Be it a variant or not. Once you put an introduction or something with substance inside of a comic book, you instantly have the potential of something greater when it comes to the “value” of it. There is nothing wrong with a great story. That’s what comic fans always yearn for first and foremost. That said on the flip side, the speculator has to understand that buying the Star Wars Lando #1 Alex Ross variant for $240 is a big gamble. There better be a good reason to buy a comic that literally came off the presses a few days ago and is being bought for $240. Yes the ratio factor, we get it, but better than that folks. That could have been $240 spent on a Bronze Age book that would have been a better way to go. If the Star Wars Lando #1 contains the introduction that warrants an aftermarket spike, then by all means buy a variant. It’s now when the speculator needs to figure out if this is a hyperbole or a true introduction that will pay dividends for years to come. It’s an easy task actually because if the market is hot, sell it. If you make a 35% or a 233% profit, you still make money on it. Move along. Never worry about what could have been, how much more you could have made. You made profit, move on. It’s the greed and love that kills. The speculator who holds on for an extra dollar, the market passes them by, the speculator that falls in love and can’t let go of their comic, those are the ones that lose. We’re on topic of the Star Wars Lando #1 variants more so than the Archie #1 variants because at least 24 or so of the Archie variants are cover price. Like an Archie cover, buy it, done. The Lando books are priced more on different levels. So with Archie #1 you have an all new start, an all new look, new all-star creators, and onward we go! This relaunch will pertain to anything Archie regarding the film or television market Archie Comics has spoken about for a couple of years now. Archie #1 is the beginnings of it all from here on out. If Archie is a hit on the big screen or television, which it will be, look for the vibe to be directly taken from the new direction of the company. Viewers will not see the campy Archie or Jughead, they’ll witness hipster style Archie and Jughead. Watch as Archie #1 literally comes to life in time. The uniqueness will carry Archie #1 because of its banking on breaking it to film or television the way it’s storytelling and edgy looks go. If there is an introduction of any kind and that comes to fruition via film or TV, then you really have a winner on your hands. Archie #1 will have more upside than Star Wars Lando #1 if both have solid storytelling and no introductions. Lando gets the edge with an introduction……for now. Be smart, pay attention to the market.

One more thing, if you’re a Lando fan. His first COMIC BOOK appearance (not magazine/graphic novel) was in Star Wars #43 (1981). It also happens to be the second appearance of Boba Fett.

It looks like our friends at Creature Entertainment have another hit on their hands. The Gun #1 from writer John Ulloa and artist Jose Varese looks like a solid offering. Both the regular cover and the Juan Navarro variant is sold out!

Image Comics reaches back into the vault this week. Rob Liefeld is back with Bloodstrike #1. Let the fun begin! And please refrain from the insults of Rob’s talent here on the site or on any of the InvestComics social media outlets. Seriously. You bought his Deadpool, X-Force, etc books back in the 90’s if you’re old enough to remember, right? You continue to insult? Can you do any better? Honestly? If so, why are you not a wealthy comic book creator yourself then? Stop it already, following everyone’s recourse of insults because you want to “fit in” is not the way to go anymore. You’re not breaking ground by insulting Rob Liefeld. Time to realize he’s created some neat characters (Deadpool and Cable) and right the ship to a better way then trying to bully just because you feel it’s your right. It’s not. Don’t like it? Change the channel, don’t buy it, move on. Get a hold of yourself. We’re talking about comic books here, relax.

New villains Killer Mimes are introduced in Red Hood Arsenal #2. 1872 #1 from Marvel Comics gives readers a very different take on things. Sheriff Steve Rogers leads the charge in this town called Timely. Interesting take indeed. Starfire #2 looks to continue its success, the variant is sold out as is the Spider-Verse #3 Phil Noto Incentive variant. Spider-Island #1 will be a good read. Titans Comics; Home #1 and Minions #2 are both sold out. Tomorrows #1 (Dark Horse) with artist Jason Copland is one to check out.

We begin this week with Infinity Gauntlet #1.The first appearance of Anwen Bakian and as the new Nova. Yet another strong female presence enters the realm of the Marvel universe. The original Infinity Gauntlet #1 took place in 1991. The 1991 Infinity Gauntlet was a fantastic read. As for the 2015 version, get the Adi Granov variant if you are speculating big on this character and want the most bang for your buck. Here’s a quick free comic book speculating lesson from InvestComics regarding the influx of new female characters. Newsflash, not all first appearances (female OR male) will offer a large return within the aftermarket. Actually, some may not even have a return at all. Don’t be under this misconception that you will make money on every first appearance you buy. While we’re talking about the female character introductions, some of them are doomed to fail just like their male counterparts. Is there a possible quick buck to be made here? Maybe, probably so, but a short window may leave many stuck with a comic that everyone already has a heads up on. Don’t be misguided into believing that every single first appearance will be a hit in the aftermarket immediately following its release.

So the questions a speculator should be asking themselves regarding a first appearance of a character (female or male) are; What impact will this character have within the grand scheme of things? Will this character have a profound affect on another character(s)? Is there something completely different about them that we haven’t seen before? Does the character have a story to tell? Are they relatable? Is the origin too complex? Are they in for the long haul? Will this character get special attention with their own series? Will the company push this character too much where it seems desperate to push fans to like them, which in turn shows there is a lack of a fanbase not possibly existing really and more so just hype. Are they related to another hero/villain?; which could be a quick “wow who really cares moment?” (See Angela). Do they even look like a winner? There are so many mitigating factors that go into this, you must have the knowledge, expertize and presence in mind to be doing this for many years to get some speculating calls right on point.

The new Marvel way is the female character. They have made it abundantly clear that they want to make the female presence a strong one in their universe, which is absolutely fantastic. There will be ones that simply do not work folks, be prepared. But with all of the new female heroes being introduced, when will that big female villain be introduced and what will happen to the market then exactly? Will there be an influx of female villains coming in? Lets not kid ourselves here. Marvel likes money. So does DC. So do all companies. They should, they’re in business to put food on the table for their families. They will push the envelope as far as it needs to go to make the fanbase interested in buying their comics. If that means the new hot thing to do is hype up a bunch of new female based characters, then they will do so. Soon enough though, the female villains will arrive in droves too. Be prepared for that. Then it will become a common core overused marketing ploy. But again, not all will be successful. So any hyperbole from new speculators or inexperienced ones arriving on the scene remember this; true speculators do not lead to slaughter, they guide them to think. Know the difference here.

Click the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Inhumans Attilan Rising #1 The first appearance of the Attilan land is in Fantastic Four #47 (1966). Important more so if you’re into first appearances of “land”. That said, Inhumans (as said here on InvestComics) will be huge in years to come. Does this mean that Attilan will gain some momentum in the aftermarket before the Inhumans become a household name in about 4 years? The way things are these days, probably yes. And only if Attilan is part of the Inhumans lure in the theater. But lest InvestComics remind you one more time, early Inhumans comics……buy buy buy.

The new Inferno comic hits this Wednesday. Inferno #1. The original Inferno story started (prologue) in Uncanny X-Men #239 (1988). It was a massive run in mostly all of the mutant books. It was a fun read then and it’ll probably be the same this time around as well.

The new Secret Wars 2099 #1 will be the first appearance of the new Avengers 2099. 2099 used to be a hot item back in the day. It ran its course and the whole love fest faded into obscurity. 2099 has appeared since yesteryear, but to no fanfare today as it once was. Maybe times will change and fans will except it once again. We’ll see.

Nova #31…….readers alert, surprise ending here. We love surprise endings!

Captain Canuck #1 was featured on the InvestComics free comic book day article in January 2015. Given the right creative team and guidance, Captain Canuck could be a hit. Having a David Finch variant helps to start things off too. There aren’t any of these variants available on Ebay right now. Hard one to get? Great variant though! His first appearance was in Captain Canuck #1 (1975).

Check out Fight Club 2 #1 from Dark Horse. At first glance, the Lee Bermejo variant looks like it has the Incredible Hulk on the cover. Seriously, check it out. Super cool right?

Indestructible Stingray #1; This IDW comic is going to be a good read. And just in case Stingray catches on, the first appearance was in Indestructible #1 (2013). Material #1 from Image Comics; a deep semi-political thought out comic. Very serious content in this book. Looks like an award winning Oscar movie put into comic book form. New Release Comics on 5/20/15 (And back issues)

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Marvel’s newest title will be hitting this Wednesday; A-Force #1. A much hyped all female Avengers team. With all of the female strong characters of late, this only seems fitting right? Here’s the thing, and this happens way too often. Whenever the big two (Marvel or DC) hit on something (characters/team) that works for them (monetarily), they go ahead and shove it down our throats. Deadpool, Lobo, Wolverine, Spider-Gwen, Ghost Rider, etc. It happens all the time. Appearances aplenty and number one issues as well. The  A-Force team will be shoved in our faces as “must like” material. Here’s newsflash, this A-Force love-fest is not going to last very long. Not being a negative Nancy, just a realist and a speculator. We hope to get proven wrong, but history is doomed to repeat itself here. Quickly, name one mega successful all female comic book team book. You can’t. You can probably rattle off a dozen female characters that are simply red hot right now though and have held their own for years and years. That’s where this all works. Just like some of their counterparts, they are fantastic solo acts or team players. An all female team is not what the fandom really wants. Yes some female comic character are out selling their counterparts easily and we get that the push to lure the girl into the hobby is possibly working, but it’s not going to work with A-Force. Again, prove us wrong, would love that. We want to see success here.
With all this said, the great part about A-Force #1 is we’re probably going to get an endearing story. An all female Avengers heroes team kicking butt should be a fun read. We also know we’re getting a ridiculous amount of variants too. The Adam Hughes variant is sold out.
So get this book because you like to read comics. You probably will not be able to speculate this book and make some serious cash on it. Maybe, possibly an immediate impact, but longer term? Simply don’t see it. Last time here, prove us wrong and sustain some readership/market value. Please. That Adam Hughes variant is nice though isn’t it?! Enjoy the great read.

More Secret Wars awesomeness with the release of Secret Wars Battleworld #2. Witness all of the knock em down drag them out fights in this comic. M.O.D.O.K. Evilness reaches new heights here. M.O.D.O.K.’s First appearance is in Tales of Suspense #94 (1967). Such a goofy looking character, and it’s brought to you by Stan Lee, Jack ‘King’ Kirby and Joe Sinnott. Wow now that’s some firepower. For many years fans have clamored the presence of M.O.D.O.K. On the big screen and it just doesn’t seem feasible without looking completely goofy. Maybe, somehow Marvel figures it out, but seeing a huge head like that flying around would be a “jump the shark” type deal and not a productive one. More like a Dark Crystal or a muppet type feel, thus not taken seriously. Marvel Studios is probably aware of the possible vibe and this is why we’ll probably never see this character on screen.

The Marvel Ultimate universe is ending. What a ride is has been! Witness this tragic event in Ultimate End #1. Written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Mark Bagley. This is the same exact creative team that ushered in the Marvel Ultimate Universe 15 years ago with the first Ultimate comic ever; Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (2000). Ultimate End #1 will be a story for the ages. No more Ultimate Universe. And we don’t really see it coming back from Marvel either. This won’t be a “take-back” from Marvel. We don’t see Marvel going back to the well anytime soon re-releasing Ultimate books or the universe. Marvel is merging the two universe’s in the Secret Wars/Battleworld story, so essentially they really don’t have a need to revisit the Ultimate universe later on down the line. Of course it can still happen because if Marvel wants it they’ll do it, but bringing back the Ultimate universe (ever) after the dust settles on this storyline would be a tremendous disappointment.

Yeah, so now Spider-Verse is back; Spider-Verse #1 and this just means that there will be another chance for one of those first appearances or re-introductions to do well in the aftermarket. Stay close here with your ear to the ground. That all said, the Robert Rodriguez Spider-Gwen variant is sold out already. InvestComics informs speculators and readers almost every week, they need to get on top of any new Star Wars comics if they want to be in the know and the possible aftermarket frenzy. At any time a new hero or villain can show up. This will cause a huge aftermarket boost. Get in and get out. If you want, hold onto at least one of your $4.99 comics if you want to possibly wait and see if the market will explode after the movie in December. Buy new Star Wars comics. All of them……and the new Star Wars #5 this week.

Master of Kung Fu #1.….maybe Marvel really wants this work because of the Iron Fist Netflix on the horizon. Create that whole Karate/Kung Fu vibe. Bring back the Kung Fu lure, make it happening again. Get the first Master of Kung Fu in Special Marvel Edition #15 (1973) just in case we have a resurgence. Pencils and cover by Jim Starlin too. Nice.

A bunch of number one comics to definitely check out this week;

Insufferable #1 from IDW, written by Mark Waid, art by Peter Krause. A new team book and it looks awesome. Boom Studios; Oh Killstrike #1. Interesting premise here. An escaped comic book character needs to be put back into a comic book. And the Kris Anka variant cover is sold out. Aspen Comics makes an appearance this week here with Psycho Bonkers #1.What a great title! Love it. And what a great looking read too. A five issue mini-series. Adventures of Aero Girl #1 from Action Lab Entertainment also looks like an interesting/fun read. The first Accelerators series did well for Blue Juice comics, so now we have a follow up with Accelerators Momentum #1. Valhalla Mad #1 from Image Comics. Written by Joe Casey. A sellout for sure. A whacked out take on mythology. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency #1, written by Mr. IDW himself Chris Ryall. Dark Horse; Resident Alien Sam Hain Mystery #1. A good looking story here. Chuck Dixon’s Winterworld Frozen Fleet #1 from IDW will be a good book to sit back and read.

Deadpools Secret Secret Wars #1. A wacky tale here written by Cullen Bunn. Great Tony Harris regular cover too. And also a solid homage grave variant as well. Sold out comics here most likely.

And check out Daredevil #15.1, “The life and times of Daredevil. 50 years in the making!” Ryan Stegman variant kills!

New Release Comics on 4/22/15 (And back issues)

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

A new comic book week means a new week of Convergence titles from DC. Also a new week of speculating on some of them too, besides some good reads of course. Each week InvestComics touches on the Convergence titles to give a possible heads up on what DC MAY do in the future with possible new titles or characters reemerging in the DCU. This is pure speculating here. DC may never visit some of these characters again after they appear in this epic storyline, but it’s fun to take a look at some back issues to hunt down a first appearance. Like a Captain Carrot from a couple of weeks (and months) ago here on InvestComics.

Justice_League_of_America_v.1_Annual_2 Kamandi_1_InvestComics

Convergence Hawkman #1 will visit the land of Kamandi. Kamandi hasn’t really appeared in a whole lot of books considering he was introduced in 1972’s Kamandi, The Last Boy On Earth #1. Jack “King” Kirby is the cover artist and artist/creator of the character. A wonderful Bronze Age comic to have in you collection regardless if DC ever follows up with this character.

The Detroit Justice League will appear in Convergence Justice League America #1. Check out Detroit’s baddest gang and their first appearance in Justice League of America Annual #2 (1984). This comic also happens to be the first appearance of Vibe.

Convergence Superboy and The Legion #1 will feature the group Atomic Knights. They first appeared in Strange Adventures #117 (1960).

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

And besides Convergence #3, here are the rest of the Convergence titles hitting the shelf this Wednesday; Convergence Adventures of Superman #1, Convergence Batman and The Outsiders #1, Convergence Flash #1, Convergence Green Lantern Corps #1, Convergence New Teen Titans #1, Convergence Swamp Thing #1 and Convergence Wonder Woman #1.

G.I. Joe Real America Hero #213 continues the “Death of Snake Eyes” storyline. Snake Eyes is one step closer to his comic book demise. Fans must be loving it because the comic is sold out across the board. Regular cover and variants.

With all of the Star Wars craze going on right now and with the Star Wars Marvel comic doing so well, it’s probably best to stay on top of this series and any other Star Wars related series from Marvel. The potential of any new introductions within the series will send the aftermarket into a frenzy. As proven with the heads up InvestComics gave everyone with Darth Vader #3 (since cooled off). So check out Star Wars #4 this week….

The Inhuman Special #1 will be a cool book to check out. Marvel states there will be a character to appear that hasn’t for 75 years until now. That’s neat. We look forward to see who it is.

Everything Star Wars is hot, so what better time than to release a titled book like Empire Uprising #1 to confuse everyone! IDW publishing puts out this awesome Mark Waid written, Barry Kitson drawn comic this Wednesday. Incidentally, the same creative team first introduced Empire back in 2000 under the Image Comics label; Empire #1. Great stuff. A couple of more interesting titles from IDW to check out; Infinite Loop #1 and Drones #1. Also a cool comic from IDW for the little ones; Littlest Pet Shop Spring Cleaning #1. The Littlest Pet Shop #1 first came out in 2014.

Two titles from Image Comics this Wednesday to check out are Beyond Belief #1 and Kaptara #1.

Guardians of the Galaxy #26 will feature a variant Howard the Duck Nirvana cover.

I.C.E. Bayou Black Out #1 from 12 Gauge comics is a looker. I.C.E. First appeared as a free comic book day comic back in 2011.

Avengers Magazine #1 has names attached like John Buscema and Jack Kirby. It’s a must get for any comic book enthusiast. Avengers Operation Hydra #1 will also be for comic book enthusiast, but especially Avengers fans.

New Release Comics on 4/1/15 (And back issues)

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

An extremely busy week as far as speculation/reading goes. So many comics on tap coming out this Wednesday, but before we get to all of that we want to quickly touch on some other things.

If you haven’t done so already, you must join the hottest comic speculation Facebook page right now. The page is called InvestComics: Investing in Comic books 101 (IC Poet Society). Click the link to go directly there and request to join. One of our admins will approve you and the gates of speculation heaven will open up. So many great discussions going on there daily. It’s so informative and a chill environment. Please read the simple rules for the thread before proceeding though. It is not a thread for any fanboy to just post a random picture of a comic book within their collection. It’s a comic book speculation page. A big boy page. So go there now and join, get more informed, and most of all have fun.

InvestComics was at London Super Comic Con a couple of weeks ago. There were several pictures featured on the InvestComics Facebook page as well as our other social media outlets. Our London team lead by Giles Hargraves and Jamie Wright were superb. There are more pictures and some video forthcoming from the show. InvestComics is in the Netherlands this weekend covering the Dutch Comic Con. There are a few pictures posted on the InvestComics Facebook page and our other social media outlets right now. You should check them out. There are many pictures sitting in our bay that will be released from that show shortly. Our Netherlands corespondent Andres Sandoval is killing it right now. Be sure to follow all of the InvestComics social media to get the maximum impact of our Worldwide assault. Here are just a few of our networks of many to Like and follow;

The InvestComics Hot Picks have been a weekly speculation source for 10 years now. There are so many newcomers each and every week. It’s very important that you read the disclaimers. This goes for the veterans as well. Please read the disclaimers.

So what is the InvestComics Hot Picks article about? Many think this is a place to just post about the latest hot back issue comic that hit yesterday or a potential comic down the road because news came out last week about some possible movie. This weekly article covers the new comic releases that are coming out on Wednesday. That’s it. We give readers and speculators the heads up on potential books to either monetize on or just to enjoy a good read regarding new comic book day. There have been many emails, messages, random post saying “what about this book?!” or “Jay you should include this comic in your Hot Picks.” While we love and appreciate the input, this is not what this article is about. Never was in all of its ten years. We sometimes feature solo articles regarding the “breaking news” books. We also post on the InvestComics Facebook page and our other social media outlets. This is why it’s so important for speculators to follow and or like our pages too. InvestComics broke the Thor Hulkbuster comic on our Facebook page and also we gave the scoop on the Black Panther sister book, the Captain America Crossbones book, the Inhumans first appearance (more on this book in a bit), and the list goes on. Don’t miss out anymore, get over there! Again, as far as the InvestComics Hot Picks go, this is strictly about the new comics coming out and then touching on the older comics that relate to the new ones. The real money is within the older books we have always recommended. If you were privy enough to capitalize on all of the back issues we have recommended, you are sitting on a beautiful collection. As always said here regarding the new books; buy new to buy old.

A NEW WEEKLY article will be hitting this week, so look out for it. The new article is going to be fun and we cannot wait to share it with everyone. Look for it before new comic book day on Wednesday. We also want to thank everyone for making the other weekly new article; InvestComics Top 5 a hit too. The response has been a great one. Continue to look for that before Wednesday too.

So let’s get to this crazy busy week…..

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Another year, another big event. DC comics is promising to change things drastically (again) with their Convergence event. The event starts up with Convergence #0 this week. The event claims to cover the lifespan of the entire DC Universe. Sounds like fun! Probably going to be some awesome reading ahead here. Probably also going to be the potential of some first appearances too which is always nice. What we do know is there will be completely new looks for many of the characters. How well received will these costumes be? So far 50/50. Will it equate to a speculation rally? Potentially yes, but maybe not for that long. It really depends on a couple of factors. If the new looks will make its way to the big screen and or sustain the duration of its title and not changing it again and again, which tends to happen more often than not. Thus killing the spec market on the new costume deal. The new Superman duds seem to be the one drawing a lot of flack. Oh well, DC doesn’t care what the fanboy wants, they never did and rightly so. They shouldn’t cater to the few. The many pay the bills, not the screaming fanboy. So for now that’s what DC wants and that’s what they will stick with….for now. As for Convergence, great potential on a big storyline here, the spec side is a wait and see. One thing we will give you a heads on is the Adam Hughes Convergence variant is sold out already. A good book to possibly get signed and graded quickly to flip. A pricey $50 variant (now $100 already) makes for making real money a bit harder though. Must score a high grade here to max your return.

New 52 Futures End #48 will have possible ties to Convergence, so pick this one up if you are all in on the Convergence deal.

Harley Quinn #16 will feature the debut of the Gang of Harley’s. What more do you need here really? A Harley comic with an introduction? Yes, massive potential here. Two $15 variants are sold out. The Left hand variant and the right hand variant. No really, those are the variants. Be sure to click the red link to buy/bid on Ebay right now if you want this one. There is also a very cool WonderCon variant as well. We told you to click the Darth Vader #3 link last week when the variant there was $9.99, did you do that? Should have right?

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Fantastic_Four_45_InvestComics Inhumans_InvestComics (3)

The Inhumans is one of those teams that InvestComics has recommended over the years time and time again. With Uncanny Inhumans #0 coming out this week, it’s time to strongly reiterate the absolutely, positively one of the best investments sitting out there right now. That investment is Fantastic Four #45 (1965). Could care less how high the price is for this comic right now. Buy it. Buy it. Buy it. This comic still has upside and will not stop for many many years. Here’s why and please remember to credit InvestComics with this information okay? Thanks. Fox Studios will not give up the rights to the X-Men over to Marvel Studios. What is the big mouse to do right? Well this is very easy. Go with their other team that is the closest thing to the X-Men and franchise. In come the Inhumans. Why do you think the title of this comic is “Uncanny” Inhumans? The Inhumans movie is going to be huge. So huge that the Inhumans will have their own movie flow as does the X-Men. Their own storyline, their own individual universe if you will. The Inhumans team will turn the comic book “team” concept movie upside down on its head as did the Guardians of the Galaxy. But the Inhumans will rival the X-Men and that is going to be some serious cash flow for Marvel Studios and more importantly the comic book speculators. Buy the Inhumans. Buy the Inhumans. Buy a low grade Fantastic Four #45 if you do not have the cash to buy a high grade. The low grade is better than NOT having that book at all. It must be in your collection. So go to your local comic shop and see what they have. Click on the red Fantastic Four #45 link to shop on Ebay. We cannot stress enough how much up side this book has. As for the Uncanny Inhumans #0 comic this week, it will focus on the leader of the group, Black bolt. A good pick up here, but a long wait time to make any real monies. The $50 Siya Oum is already sold out. This might be the better buy with a high grade and signature(s) on it. Fantastic Four #45 is where it’s really at.

Marvel continues their onslaught of new Star Wars books this week with Kanan Last Padawan #1. It seems with Marvel’s Star Wars these days, everything is hot. Will this comic be hot? Probably, maybe. Will it last? Maybe. Does it have big buy potential? Not really, but that can change rather quickly in the world of comics. All this character needs is an announcement of appearing in one of the new Star Wars movies and you have yourself a frenzy. That hasn’t happened. It may never happen. So what happens then? Well you then have an animated character making his solo comic debut. Actually an earlier appearance in print is in Star Wars Rebels magazine #2 from last month, but who’s paying attention to that? Ha! Click that red link if you want that magazine. But getting back, animated characters never equate to big dollar signs in comic books unless your name is Harley Quinn. A breakout will happen occasionally, but it’s a rarity for animation characters to bring a big return for speculators. Buy the Kanan Last Padawan #1 comic this Wednesday for a good read and a $4.99 risk. Maybe something will occur. Maybe the comic will get hot right out of the gate and you have yourself a hot book to resell. Anything is possible. The TV show variant ($10) and the Killian Plunkett variant ($15) are both sold out. So if you think the potential is there, buy them. Remember one thing (as said here quite often), sold out comics DO NOT mean there is money to be made. It’s just a heads up for the speculator to make a judgment call.

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

A couple of weeks ago InvestComics gave fans a running start on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #44 comic. The “death” of a character was the calling there. Turns out it was Donatello and it looks as though he will make it to issue number 45 after all. This week we present the storyline that will give readers the demise of long time character Snakeyes from G.I. Joe. Look for G.I. Joe #212 for the beginning of the end for Snake Eyes. The problem with death in comic books is that there is no death in comic books. No one stays dead. This storyline however will be a hot one. Lots of eyeballs will be on it. Lots of speculators on it. Do not look for long term here. This is going to be a great story, but Snake Eyes will come back eventually. Maybe as someone else, but the character will be back in some form. IDW will bring it as they always do, so definitely check out this storyline. The Larry Hama and Anthony Fuso variants are both sold out. If you’re in the market for these books, better it now if you want them at a lower price. There are currently no G.I Joe #212 comics on Ebay. Many speculators are holding of to see where the marketplace goes. Otherwise you’ll have to wait a while for the prices to come back down to a normal level after the frenzy dies down to purchase a copy.

GI_Joe_InvestComics Harley_Quinn_InvestComics (1) Spider_Gwen_3_InvestComics

Long time friends of InvestComics; Creature Entertainment have a hit on their hands. Check out Ravenous #1 this Wednesday. If you ever have the chance to get on over to the Creature Entertainment booth at a convention, do yourself a favor and do so. John Ulloa and Jose Navarro are great guys. Their product is superb too. Killer artist Jose Varese is part of the team and is the penciler on Ravenous #1. Support this Indie company Creature Entertainment and buy this already sold out comic. The variant is a beauty too.

Wonder Woman continues her torrid pace thanks to David and Meredith Finch. Wonder Woman #40 features one of those cool movie variants. InvestComics has touched on a few of the movie variants to have some fun with and either monetize on or to have a one of a kind book for your collection. Wonder Woman #40 features the 300 movie variant. Get actor Gerard Butler and artist for the cover Bill Sienkiewicz to sign this comic. Get it witnessed/graded and you have yourself an amazing book. Again, we don’t want to get fan mail or fanboys screaming “How do I get actor Gerard Butler to sign my comic??? He’s never at a comic convention!!!” Stop it. Really, stop it. This is all in F U N. The odds of running into ANY of the people we suggested to sign your movie comic variants in the last few weeks is extremely slim. You will probably never get Prince, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Tommy Lee Jones, etc, but the potential of ever getting an opportunity to get a signed/graded comic book movie variant by Prince is just flat out fun. Please calm down with the actual thinking that InvestComics is telling fans to actually find these celebrities and get this done. It’s merely an outside the box way of thinking to get a unique book in your collection or to sell. Oh and by the way, Wonder Woman #40 David Finch variant is sold out.

Avengers Ultron Forever #1 will fast forward 500 years into the future. Ultron has won and all humans are now extinct. Dr. Strange brings the Avengers from the past to try and defeat Ultron. Fun times! Superheroes fighting villains, we all love that right? The three part series is brought to you by the awesome artistry of Alan Davis. Two variants are extinct already; the Black Widow and the Captain America. Expect sell outs across the board here.

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

When talking about the return of comic book characters earlier and how they never really die, they return in some way or another eventually. Wolverines #13 will be just that. Wolverine is “dead” but Deadpool will bring him back in his own way. Yes there will be a Wolverpool? Deadvernie? However you want to call it, but this will be the debut of something. That something being Deadpool as Wolverine. A hot book as a novelty, nothing substantial to come of this later on.

And speaking on debuts, there might be one in Iron Fist Living Weapon #11 this week. Thumb through it to see what’s what.

Kanan_InvestComics Punisher_InvestComics Ravengers_1_InvestComics

Spider-Gwen #3 will guest star the Punisher. There are so many variants with this issue. Nice too though. Earth 2 Worlds End #26 has Darkseid winning it all. He’s a bad dude. And have you seen the cover on this one? Darkseid dangling the defeated heroes in the air like dead mice. So awesome. Sticking on topic about covers, the new Nailbiter #11 cover is as disturbing as the number one issue isn’t it? The Punisher #17 cover by Mitch Gerads is awesome too.

The new Puppet Master #1 will have 24 variant covers. Yes that’s 24, not a typo.

Two followups to sold out number one comics come this Wednesday. Blackcross #2 and Citizen of the Galaxy #2. Let’s see if readership keeps in stride and good word comes out that these series are for real.

Here is the long list of number one comics to check out this week; UFOlogy #1, Arkham Manor Engame #1, True Believers Age of Apocalypse #1, True Believers Marvel Zombies #1, Avengers Millennium #1, Sinestro Annual #1, Empire of the Dead Act Three #1, Rick and Morty #1, Gotham Academy Endgame #1 will have a possible introduction here, Poet Anderson Dream Walker #1, Guardians of the Galaxy Best Story Ever #1, No Mercy #1, Hoax Hunters #1, My Little Pony Fiendship is Magic #1 and Looking For Group #1. Wow that’s a lot of number one comics coming out. Better get those reading glasses on.

In NO particular order:

Darth_Vader_3_InvestComicsDarth Vader #3 (Marvel) – InvestComics released its InvestComics Hot Picks #364 on its usual Sunday spot. Three days prior to new comic book day. This comic has become the hottest book on the planet. Here’s a quote from Sunday’s InvestComics Hot Picks “Click this link to Darth Vader #3 and get on Ebay right away if you want to be a part of the next hot book in the aftermarket.” There were quite a few copies going for cover price when the article went up. No so much thereafter. Can’t say we didn’t warn you.

Deathstroke #8 (DC) (2012) – This comic had a few copies up for grabs when the Sunday article hit. Now there is only one up on Ebay with a few bids on it. This is the first appearance of Deathstoke’s daddy.

Batman ’66 #21 (DC) – Introduction of Lord Death Man.

Hit 1957 #1 – Good looking read from Boom Studios.

Jem and the Holograms #1 – IDW’s girl power book is garnering some clicks on Ebay. Worth a look, no doubt.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 3/11/15

Howard_the_Duck_1_InvestComicsSo what makes Detective Comics Endgame #1 more of a standout than Howard the Duck #1 this week? Why even compare them really? No reason, just because. Well maybe because Marvel is pushing this C list character down our throats with ten variants at last count? And the Detective book has one awesome regular cover. Of course the comic book collecting life isn’t all about cover though, right? It is in fact though the first appealing thing one sees, so the marketing must captivate the eye and sell it first. Make that person WANT to pick up that comic. So I ask the question, one sees all bazillion of the Howard the Duck #1 variants and then one sees the Detective Comics Endgame #1 sitting on the shelf. Besides your shop having your books displayed in alphabetical order, in which the first book you probably will see is the Batman book, which would you be so inclined to pick up and thumb through first? Maybe some do pick up the Howard book first, but the majority will probably gravitate towards that awesome Rafael Albuquerque cover for Detective Comics Endgame #1. Well that’s all about the outside, what about the inside? One book is about a Private Investigator that is a umm….a duck and the other is about a new group of teenagers kicking some as* in Gotham to save it from being overrun by Jokerized victims. Maybe you still like the Howard book. The Howard book will be a fun read though, so get it for at least that reason! Both are cool. So don’t get all hurt that I’m not that high on the Howard book. Speculation = opinion.

Detective_Comics_Endgame_1_InvestComics Avengers_195_InvestComics

Not that owning the Fear #19 (1976) book (first appearance of Howard the Duck) is a bad thing, but if you’re in the market to buy a good first appearance for $250 or $500 dollars, there are other books to seriously consider. Ask yourself this. Would Disney really want to jeopardize/replace the lure of Donald Duck with a wise cracking, cigar smoking duck? I highly doubt they want to throw Howard in our faces as the duck to really remember and constantly have questions from children to adults saying, “Is that Donald Duck?”. Um no. Disney would not want this. Why do you think there is no real talk about a cartoon or a movie pertaining to Howard? For this reason. Too close to Donald. Maybe someday Disney will bite the bullet and release a Howard cartoon or movie, but as for right now it’s not happening. Maybe a Howard the Duck comic book is a feeler to see what sort of attention it gets? Then maybe we’ll get some real news of something? This speculator doesn’t think we’ll see anything for some time. The Donald lure is way more important to Disney right now than destroying the very fabric of Disneyland or anything pertaining to Donald with people constantly mistaking Donald for Howard. By Avengers_196_InvestComicscomparison, will we ever see a nasty mouse character created within the Marvel U that looks very similar to the Big Mouse with an attitude and possible cigar? The short answer is no. Howard will stay where he is right now and Disney is very content with that. Buy Detective Comics Endgame #1, looks like a winner. (Not that many floating on Ebay right now. Click the link and get yours if you want it!). Story sounds good, good creative team, possible intro to a new team and that cover……

CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay.Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

Instead of paying so much for a Fear #19 comic, why not check out who Ant-Man is dealing with in Ant-Man #3. Although Taskmaster is not in comparison to Howard as far as notability and pricing as far as first appearances go, his (cameo) in Avengers #195 from 1980 is a nice book. Recommended by InvestComics a few years ago when it was a $7 book, it has since climbed into a decent area and is still very affordable at this point. His first “full appearance” is in Avengers #196. Rumors surround Taskmaster as a possible movie appearance from time to time as does the possible breakout ability he has as well. Nothing of either end really….yet? Either way, InvestComics is still high on this comic after years of recommending it. Be sure to click the RED link to bounce over to Ebay (it’ll open in a new window, leaving your page right here!) to throw a bid down or a buy it now. A George Perez book with upside here. Be forewarned, various grades and pricing on Ebay for Avengers #195 are very sporadic.

Bloodshot_6_InvestComics Ninjak_1_InvestComicsDepending on how long you’ve been a speculator, you will remember the Valiant comics craze. Ask a seasoned veteran about the ridiculous Valiant pricing at one time and listen to how many people lost a tremendous amount of money in these books. Now flash to 2015 and you will see that the speculator just ain’t going for that again! Many new Valiant comics have gotten a new life (relaunched) on the label, but the back issue market for these books from which these characters first appeared have done nil. So with that, Ninjak #1 will reappear in his own title. Ninjak first appeared in Bloodshot #6 back in 1993. If you click the red link here, that Bloodshot #6 (see the red link again!) can be yours, a NM for only $1.79. My my, how times have changed.

As there is most weeks, there is always an Image Comic to keep an eye out on. This week it’s Southern Cross #1. (Only 10 of these now on Ebay with a couple of variants). An interesting story with only one variant cover to show for. The variant is from Tula Lotay. She’s been around a couple of years, but is making her presence known. Watch for this newbie as she comes up the ranks with the Babs Tarr’s, Stacey Lee’s, Fiona Staples‘ of the world. Notice a trend here? Just saying. And very awesome.

Arkham_Knight_1.InvestComicsA video game adaptation comics really surmount to much within the aftermarket, but they are still great nonetheless. Check out the new Batman Arkham Knight #1 as it leads up to the new video game release. The Gary Frank variant is sold out already. It is a beauty too! Get it on Ebay right now if you want! That Red Link! Helping everyone out here!

The Disney spiteful demise of the Fantastic Four comic is almost here. The next to last issue promises lots of cool things. Fantastic Four #644; the end is near.

CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay.Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

Spider-Gwen will continue her “torrid” pace of popularity this week. Will number two sell out too? How long will the madness for Edge of Spider-Verse #2 continue for? (Insert sarcasm here) Only 230 listings at the present moment. Will Spider-Gwen be the next Harley? Will she be the Howard the Duck? Time will tell! And speaking of Spider-Verse, Amazing Spider-Man #16 name drops Spider-Verse within its solicit this week. Anything going to pop up here? Will Marvel ever let Spider-Verse go already? Spidey also has Amazing Spider-Man Special #1 coming out. Cool read here, nice Adam Kubert variant and who knows what can pop up here too?

Check out the pages of Ms. Marvel #13, may have an intro. Cool book anyways.

A few number one issues to definitely check out this week. Surface #1 from Image Comics. Spawn fans rejoice, Spawn Resurrection #1 will not only be a new beginning, but a Todd McFarlane variant will come along for the ride. The wildly successful Sixth Gun will begin anew with Sixth Gun Dust to Dust #1. Creator Cullen Bunn of this series also has another book coming this week; Hellbreak #1. Great stuff here. Bill and Ted’s Most Triumphant Return #1 from Boom Studios is a fun book. Bill and Ted originally made their comic book debut in 1989’s Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure Movie Adaptation #1 from DC Comics.

Postal #2 from Image hits this week with a very cool variant. Postal #1 showed some nice sales. Will the series pick up some more steam?

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 3/4/15

CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay. Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

Princess_Leia_1_InvestComicsSpider_Woman_5_InvestComicsMarvel Comics is wasting no time with their favorite new toy. That new toy being Star Wars of course. With a boatload of Star Wars #1 variants, then a Darth Vader #1 release and now a Princess Leia #1 release this week. A bit of Star Wars overkill here maybe? A Star Wars fan will say no way! There could never be enough Star Wars right? Anyway, the Princess takes center stage within the suddenly strong female leads in the Marvel Universe in some time. Silk, Spider-Gwen , Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman (more on her in a little bit), Thor, A-Force, Angela, and a few dedicated “variant woman of Marvel covers” appearing this week. So yes the women of Marvel are making some serious noise. About time! Now back to the Princess. Leia will bring a ridiculous amount of variant covers as has Star Wars #1 and Darth Vader #1. There is one very cool variant i recall with Leia holding Luke a’la Amazing Fantasy #15 cover that came from the Star Wars #1 variants I believe. Very neat. Cool book to have Stan Lee and the Princess herself to sign, get graded. You can check out that variant on Ebay right HERE. Lots of activity on that book. So is there anything making the speculator really keep an eye on this comic this Wednesday? Well one thing to note is that since Leia debuted in Star Wars #1 in 1977 (Marvel), she’s never had a self titled solo book. Crazy right? So that’s a nice plus. Which leads into the bigger reason here on why the speculator should really think about getting this book. Since Princess Leia never held her own title we never got a full story dedicated just to her on a level to which Marvel is about to take it. This could possibly mean an introduction or two without an announcement anywhere of it coming. Will it be a character that appears in the new film(s)? Will it be a spinoff of another Marvel title? Who knows? Thing is, the speculator needs to keep a close tab on this one.

Detective_Comics #32_InvestComics Blackcross_1_InvestComicsNew_52_44_InvestComicsMarvel really wants readers and non-fans alike to pay attention to Spider-Woman. In Spider-Woman #5 it’s all new everything going on here. New costume, new powers (last issue), new cast member and new status quo. A few variant covers display our girl in her new duds, but it’s the Kris Anka design cover that comes in as the most interesting. However, it’s the Siya Oum $30 variant that is sold out already. Will Marvel ever get the Spider-Woman character right? Will the new everything and a new cast member after only four issues do the trick? Maybe. Maybe not.

So what do you do when you have a fan favorite title of a b character, a character like Hawkeye? Well you end it and start over right? Huh? Yep, when you’re Marvel you can do things like that. All New Hawkeye #1; There are possible hints that there could be new things happening in the way of a new character or maybe not. Either way, the Hawkeye character solidified himself as a character that fans will back if the right story and art comes with it. We shall see what comes of this series and if it becomes as hot as its predecessor.

CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay. Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

DC Comics start their new gimmick this week with the movie variant covers. There is nothing really to gain monetarily here unless you really want to work for it. First off, if you see or want a movie variant you like, buy it! If you like the way the movie variant looks or it’s a homage to a favorite movie of yours, buy it! They are all cool looking covers. That all said, if you want to get some unique comics to sell then do this. Get the Detective Comics #40 this week; a Matrix homage, and get it signed by Keenu Reeves, Brian Stelfreeze and Francis Manapul. The latter two are the easy gets. Getting Keenu would be the hard get and the prize, but hey nothing is impossible. Be sure to have that witness verify your signature, get a 9.8 grade and you have a very nice flip variant for yourself. Good luck!

All_New_Hawkeye_1_InvestComics Blackcross_1_InvestComics Citizen_of_the_Galaxy_1_InvestComicsAnd DC’s Convergence is right around the corner. Check out Earth 2 #32 as Darkseid is kicking some major as*. Only a few copies of this one being sold on Ebay right now. And New 52 Futures End #44 will lead directly into the Convergence story line. And the cover is absolutely surperb! Only two copies of this one on Ebay. Better grab it! Click the RED link before it’s too late!

As Convergence is taking shape, Marvel’s Secret Wars is shaping up too. Check out another prelude issue in Avengers #42 and Avengers World #18 revels some answers for fans following that story.

An interesting Marvel team-up book will have fans very happy this week. Check out Guardians Team-Up #1. Not only will the Avengers be teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, but the creative team will be Brian Michael Bendis and Arthur Adams. Sweet. Did you know the old Guardians of the Galaxy team first appeared together with the Avengers in Avengers #167 in 1978? (Click that RED link if you want to bid/buy that comic right now). The newer team appeared together with the Avengers in the War of Kings Saga #1 (early 2009). The new GOTG also appeared together with the Avengers in late 2009 in Guardians of the Galaxy #18.

A bunch of number one issues to check out this week. CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay. Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

IDW’s Citizen of the Galaxy #1 is sold out already at Midtown Comics. Although it’s not too often IDW really commands big bucks in the aftermarket, they put out some great stuff for the fans. Just a heads up too, there are only two issues of this comic up on Ebay at the present moment. You may want to grab one in case your local shop doesn’t have any. Click the RED link and buy/bid on one now if you really want it.

Descender #1 looks like a hit right out of the gate for Image. The team of Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen sure does help. Couple that with an interesting story and you have demand. So much so that the variants on Ebay are selling wildly. If you’re in the market for one of these, you better click the RED link to get in early here. Looks like we may have a hot book here. That said, remember one thing. Sitting on a modern hot variant does not always equate to money a year from now. Studies, graphs, charts and indicators reflect a severe decline in many of the hot modern variants. If you can make money on your purchase, then do so. Waiting is a sure sign of two things. Greed and you possibly losing money. Be a speculator and not a fanboy that falls in love with a comic you intend to flip. And the other rule, fall in love and buy comics to read because you love the comic and never intend on flipping it too. Simple.

Avengers_42_InvestComics Avengers_World_18_InvestComics Guardians_Team_up_1_InvestComicsThe awesome talents of Eric Powell delivers Big Man Plans #1 from Image Comics. This comic is showing a few of the regular covers on Ebay, but only one variant at the moment. Seems like a distributing story to read to yourself and not the kiddies.

Speaking of awesome talents, Warren Ellis steps to the plate with Blackcross #1 (Dynamite Entertainment). Quite a few very nice variants hit with this release. None of the covers are covers that doesn’t turn the eye. Lets hope the inside is as good as the outside. With Warren Ellis at the helm, it’s probably, most likely going to be a good inside.

…..And more great talent with a debut issue this week. Con Job #1 by Jimmy Palmiotti and cover by Amanda Conner. A very unique story that centers around comic conventions. Jimmy knows a thing or two about doing conventions, so inspiration was probably not a hard find here for Jimmy with this story. Sounds like a fun comic and one to definitely pick up.

Nailbiter and Hack Slash meet up in the same comic; Nailbiter Hack Slash #1. Nailbiter #1 was a big deal for a little while there. If you click the RED link you’ll see there are still plenty of Nailbiter #1‘s signed/graded copies being watched. Funny thing here is that there are no Nailbiter Hack Slash #1 comics available on Ebay at the time of this article. I’m quite sure there will be plenty in due time, just not right now.

CLICK the RED Links and go straight to Ebay. Buy or Bid on the comics right now within this article!

Vampirella will venture into new alternate universe stories in Altered States Vampirella #1. Looks like she’ll encounter some zombies for the first time on a zombie planet. No copies on Ebay at this time.

Descender_1_InvestComics Earth_2-32_InvestComics Nameless_2_InvestComicsGrant Morrison’s Nameless #1 received high praise from fans and sold out quickly. Will the trend follow this week with Nameless #2?

Pussycats #0 is one of those gratuitous covers that will catch a fanboys eye to pick up and look at. Although this is probably very true, the story does seem intriguing. A sexy thriller put out by an independent comic company called E-Comix. No copies on Ebay available at this time. A rare comic that if it gets hot, like it’s cover, we could see some price spiking here.

A few more number one comics to check out this week are; Neverboy #1 (Dark Horse), Winterworld #0, Halogen #1 and Monster Motors Curse of Minivan Helsing #1.

Finally, remember Mad Libs? Those were fantastic and still are. They are always coming out and are a fantastic cursor in helping develop command of the English language. Nouns, Verbs, Pronouns, etc. Anyway, pick up a copy of DC Comics Super-Hero Mad Libs #1 and have hours of fun with the kids while they learn! A great way to spend time with your older friends and family too. Use your own adult “action words” to make your super-hero do “special things”.

As we have been saying for a couple of months now, changes are coming to the InvestComics website that will be tremendous. We are working behind the scenes to make a new world for all InvestComics fans to enjoy and benefit from. For many many years InvestComics has brought the luxury of giving fans their speculation information from a week to week basis without missing a beat and in return helping the speculator make money. Lots of it. The fans that understand the value of this information will benefit greatly. As too the new fan. The new speculator that comes on board will realize quickly how invaluable this information will be to them on a week in week out basis. Stay tuned for the birth of a new hub for speculators.

Our parent company; Capital Grading Services came back from the Miami Magic Con this weekend. There are some nice books that came out of there that are headed to CBCS. Two books in particular are ONE of a kind books that will have the grading community and fans of this genre buzzing. A photo of those books will go up soon. Truly is awesome. We cannot wait to share it with the Capital Grading Services and InvestComics fans.

Spider-Verse_InvestComics

We need not reiterate on here about the Spider-Verse saga going on, but there are constantly new speculators and readers coming to InvestComics so we will touch on it again. For those of you who are regular visitors here, listen up again. Buy anything Spider-Verse. Got it? That’s it. Oh yes, you want an explanation right? The reason is simple. There is one constant with the Spider-Verse books. Introductions and re-introductions of new Spider-Man characters almost every week. Last week it was Punk Spider-Man in Spider-Verse #2. Of course InvestComics was all over that one. Not knowing that Punk was in there, but letting the speculator know that they must buy it. We did poke fun of the idea of Gwen being a “spider-person”, but we made it a point to point it out to our readers! And just for the record, we still think it’s silly, nice turnover money, but our longer term money is on Silk. See how much we love the character Silk in previous articles here on InvestComics. So getting back on topic here, Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #13 will feature every single Spider-Man character in one comic. That’s boss. Who knows what will be happening in these pages? A quick cameo of a new spidey that strikes a cord with fans or maybe a reintroduction that does the same. Anything is possible within the Spider-Verse saga. Any book, any week. It’s a speculator and readers dream here. Fantastic fun to read and fantastic book(s) to speculate on. And don’t forget about Spider-Verse Team Up (2014) #3 this week too!

Batman_InvestComics_Bluebird

The Batman Eternal (2014) #42 book is slated for the debut of Bluebird. Maybe the debut in the Batman Eternal universe, but she actually first appeared in Batman #28 New 52. She’s kind of awesome too.

Batman_and_Robin_InvestComics Winter_Soldier_InvestComicsLast issue in Wonder Woman #37 was the debut of the new Donna Troy on the last page. David Finch and Meredith Finch are turning things around for this title. This week we get more of new Donna Troy in Wonder Woman (2011 4th Series) #38. Stay on top on this speculators. Readers are getting their monies worth here, maybe you will too.

Robin Rises: Omega #1 gave us confirmation that Robin may have superpowers now. See more of this story line in this weeks Batman and Robin (2011 2nd Series) #38.

Bucky takes a ride in the Marvel Universe future, 200 years to be exact. Check out Bucky Barnes Winter Soldier (2014) #4. An interesting read here indeed.

1st_Judge_Death_InvestComics Judge_Death_InvestComicsA couple of cool back issues to maybe search out if you’d like. Judge Death first appeared in 2000 AD #149 (1980). He’ll be in Judge Dredd Classics Dark Judges (2014) #1 this week. And the first appearance of Elfquest was in Fantasy Quarterly #1 (1978). Dark Horse will be giving readers Elfquest (2014 Dark Horse) 1 For $1 #1 this Wednesday.

Powers (2014 Icon) 4th Series #1 will forge ahead with its fourth series restart. Ahead of its premiere television series this time. InvestComics has touched on the Powers series a number of times since 2012. Look for a bump in the comics if the TV series does well.

Check out Dark Horse Presents (2014 3rd Series) #6. Matt Kindt and Scott Kolins debut a new space series called PastAways. Sounds like a fun read, you should check it out.

1st_Elfquest_InvestComics Elfquest_1_InvestComicsImage Comics debuts Reyn (2014 Image) #1. This is also a great looking story that collectors should check out. Look for sellouts on this book.

Here are the rest of the fantastic reads and possible speculation books coming this week. Henchmen I Henchbot (2014 Robot Paper) #1, Burning Fields (2014 Boom Studios) #1, Galaxy Quest The Journey Continues (2015 IDW) #1 and Creeple Peeple (2014 IDW) #1.

Invest wisely. Read comics.

Carpe Diem.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 11/26/14

2116199 2116208 2116412There will be plenty of new reading material and speculation material to check out this Wednesday. A bunch of number one issues make their way to the InvestComics Hot Picks this week.

The Spider-Man family makes their impact felt with sale numbers. Ultimate Spider-Man Web Warriors (2014) Marvel Universe #1 Is already not available at a major on line comic shop, which means the book is already making waves. Scarlet Spiders (2014) #1 is just about sold out at Diamond, so definitely a book to get your hands on. And Spider-Man 2099 (2014) #6 continues the highly successful Spider-Verse story line. A good week indeed for the Spider-Man universe and fans alike.

Death comes in two’s this week. Check out Deathstroke (2014 DC 2nd Series) #2 this week. It has the new character Odysseus as its 1399804_xl 2114075 2116268focal point and artist Tony Daniel continues to kill it. And why is Mr. Daniel still not a superstar is beyond comprehension. He was mentioned here on InvestComics many years ago during his spectacular Batman run. He was mentioned many times thereafter. This guy is a superstar, so lets all start paying attention and act accordingly. No reason why fans should be able to just walk up to this guy during a comic convention (no line). Deathlok #1 showed some strong sales as is Deathlok (2014 4th Series) #2. Deathlok right now is a hot comic. The big question will be; can the character hold his own? Will the hammer fall down on this series eventually? Hopefully not.

Batman Eternal writer Ray Fawkes gives fans a new Batman flavor this week; Gotham By Midnight (2014) #1An awesome $20 variant by Andrea Sorrentino accompanies the new release.

2059172 2061308 Darkseid will be DC’s answer to Marvel’s Thanos eventually down the road on the big screen. Besides getting his first appearance, which still has upside if bought at a normal rate and not an inflated one, a collector should be gathering up early appearances of Darkseid. This week in Infinity Man and the Forever People (2014) #5 readers will be treated to Mecha-Darkseid. Don’t really recall seeing too much of Mecha-Darkseid around……

Secret Origins (2014) 3rd Series #7 hits on the origins of The Huntress, The Flash, and Superboy. Always a great read and interesting tidbits you may not have known about your favorite characters.

Two giant comics to have on your radar this week, The amazingly hot Enormous (2014) Ongoing #5 and then there is that company that InvestComics has been telling readers about for quite a while now; Action Lab Entertainment. These guys are putting out some quality. 2115281 2116991Check out Planet Gigantic (2014 Action Lab) #1. Sales are looking at a sold out comic very soon. It’s just a matter of time before one of these Action Lab comics completely blows up.

Hawkeye’s Matt Fraction brings his own creation to Image Comics this Wednesday. The far out experience is called Ody-C (2014 Images) #1. The colors dude, some many colors……

Other number one issues to check out this week; Toe Tag Riot (2014 Black Mask) #1, Separators (2014) #1, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014 Boom) #1, Madman In Your Face 3D Special (2014 Image) #1, and Angry Birds Transformers (2014 IDW) #1.

See you soon. Invest wisely.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 10/22/14

360_20050921201924_large2056970Not much in the way of sold out items this week except for books like Alice Cooper #2, Southern Dog #2, and a Shaman #1 variant cover. But more important books to keep an eye on this week…….

If you’re a regular reader of the InvestComics Hot Picks, you would not only be greatly informed, but you would know that I have been bullish (buyer) on The New Teen Titans #2 (1980) for about 8 years now. Nothing has changed except that Deathstroke will be getting more attention this week with the release of his own ongoing series; Deathstroke (2014 DC 2nd Series) #1. I cannot stress enough just how much this dude is on the cusp of greatness. He’s appeared on the Arrow show with much fanfare and fans cannot seem to get enough. Now DC releases the solo series and what could be next? Well, DC/WB just announced their 10 movies coming out within the span of the next 6 years. Yes that’s right 10 movies in 6 years. We’ll see about that, but that’s not the focus point here. The focus point is the character Deathstroke. If DC/WB have a clue, they will include Mr. Slade in one of these 10 films. And they probably will. Getting prepared for the coming of Deathstroke will only cost you between $99-$125 for a raw copy of The New Teen Titans #2 (First Deathstroke) (1980). I implore you to buy this comic.

The Catwoman comic gets a new creative team. Definitely check out Catwoman (2011 4th Series) #35.

With all of the excitement of the new Gotham series comes Arkham Manor (2014) #1. Look for some interest with this one.

17276_20070115140205_large2058872Two older Marvel characters make an appearance this week. One with a new look and the other as he was back in 1983. Axis Hobgoblin (2014 Marvel) #1 will feature the Hobgoblin as he once was back in his first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #238 (1983). And in All New Invaders (2013) #11, we get a brand new look for Iron Cross. His first appearance was in The Invaders #35 (1978).

Cyclops (2014 2nd Series) #6 will feature the debut Marvel artist Javier Garron. He’s done a few things for DC and IDW, but this marks his debut into the Marvel fray.

Hard to believe that Edward Scissorhands made his appearance on the big screen 24 years ago. Even more peculiar is the fact that there is no comic adaptation of this dude……until now. Edward Scissorhands (2014 IDW) #1 will follow Edward 50 years after the movie. If you’re a fan of Eddie, this one is for you!

Other cool comics to check out this week; The awesomeness of all awesome team-ups, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ghostbusters (2014 IDW) #1, 13 Coins (2014 Titan) #1 by fan favorite Simon Bisley. An attention getter out of the gate. Memetic (2014 Boom) #1, and Image Comics brings us Goners (2014 Image) #1. You should check out this interesting plot line before they’re all……..gone.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 10/15/14

The InvestComics team is fresh back from the New York Comic Con 2014. This was our first time ever facilitating for the awesome grading company CBCS. It was fantastic. Many cool variants, old comics, and lots of Synder autographs were requested. All and all a great experience and we look forward to serving everyone’s needs at future shows.

If you follow us on any of the major social outlets we are on, you would have seen some great coverage of the show. As usual we will be combining a lot of the pictures to give fans a collage in a video form. That will be coming soon.

Thanks to the InvestComics team Rafael Rosario and Chico. An amazing duo that pursues above and beyond…..cannot not explain the gratefulness to them in words, but thank you, thank you, and thank you.

Let’s jump into the InvestComics Hot Picks. Comics are due out tomorrow……

One thing was most certain at this year’s New York Comic Con and that is that 215 Ink has a hit on their hands. The Enormous NYCC variant was nowhere to be found 30 minutes into the show. The next day was no better. Bottom line here, the Enormous comic is making some noise and this week Enormous (2014) Ongoing #4 is hitting the shelf with a sold out sign on it. This means if you see any on the new comic book wall at your shop, once that spot is empty; it’s empty until a second printing comes along. The hit series continues to sell out, so you may want to be on top of it early before it’s 20 issues in and the early issues command too much money.

Another comic that continues to sell out is Cutter. Cutter (2014 Image) #3 is gone at the distributor. Be on top of this too.

[scrollGallery id=375]

The video game industry is an industry that pulls in billions upon billions of dollars per year. What if you put out a comic book that consist of one of the biggest video game money makers in history?…. A  2 billion dollar franchise? Well IDW are taking their chance with Skylanders (2014 IDW) #1. What will this comic present in the spec market? Maybe not much, maybe something, who knows? What we do know is that the Skylanders franchise has pulled in some seriously crazy money, oh and the subscription release is sold out. Will the popularity leak into the comic book form? Will the demand be there and drive prices up in the aftermarket? You’ll have to take a chance with this one. A $3.99 gamble, your call.

Week after week I consistently remind collectors that the Spider-Verse  storyline is one to keep an eye on. There are a tremendous amount of new characters being introduced and this week is no different. Check out Edge of Spider-Verse (2014 Marvel) #5 with Sp//dr. Looks like Spider-Man has gone Anime. One of these new Spidey’s will break out in a big way and you’ll be kicking yourself for it.

Speaking of Spider-Man. Did you see the cover to Spider-Man 2099 (2014) #5? Wow that is nice!

The ever so popular Quantum and Woody from Valiant return with an almost sold out number one issue. Be sure to check out Q2 Return of Quantum And Woody (2014 Valiant) #1. 2058770A few variants are available with the new release.

The Deadpool photobomb cover of Hulk (2014 2nd Series) #7 is sold out. A classic homage cover to Todd McFarlane’s Incredible Hulk #340.

And staying on topic with Wolverine, Wolverine and the X-Men (2014) #10 will lay Logan to rest in a big way. A big way meaning there will be many artist contributing to this issue. Always good to get these types of comics because a first professional work always slips in. Or a first work on a character that the artist could go on to dominate later on in their career.

Last of the Wolverine books to check out this week would be Death of Wolverine Logan Legacy (2014) #1. This comic has some of the best Wolverine rouge gallery ever featured in it. Looks like a fun read if anything. Only a 7 issue run here.

By “killing off” one of the most overused characters in the Marvel Universe, he gets replaced by Deadpool. This Wednesday we are treated with a new number one issue pertaining to Deadpool. This time it’s Deadpool’s Art of War (2014) #1. Aftermarket draw? Not too sure here, but just some Deadpool reading by none other than Peter David!

Doctor Who fans rejoice. A new number one comic heads your way on new comic book day; Doctor Who The Twelfth Doctor (2014 Titan) #1. Better hurry though because it looks like it’s almost sold out.

That’s it for this week. Thank you all for the well wishes. See you next week.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 9/24/14

[scrollGallery id=372]

So how did you all like the short Baltimore Comic Con video? If you missed it, here it is….

InvestComics will have a full rundown of all of the comic shows that we were a part of this past year. Quite a few! Some great highlights and very few lowlights, but there was one particular lowlight that far exceeded anything we could have imagined, but you’ll have to read the wrap-up article to see exactly what I’m talking about. It’s something that all collectors should definitely be aware of. It’s an alarmingly disappointing find and very important too. With that, like I said, the good superseded the bad by a huge margin.

Some quick DC Futures End comics to touch on….

1346858_xl2017484A new Superman will be making an appearance in Superman Futures End (2014) #1. This dude has it right with a full facemask on. No one will be mistaking him for Clark ever. I’m really digging the new look. Check it out on the cover to the right.

A good amount of copies remain for the Harley Quinn Futures End (2014) #1 issue, kind of surprising figuring how hot Harley was or is. Guess the cool down continues to occur.

There is only one sold out Futures End book this week. That goes to Catwoman Futures End (2014) #1 3D variant. Why is this?

New characters, costumes, and villains will continue to pop up in the Spider-Verse story line, so be sure to stay on top on these books. Edge of Spider-Verse (2014 Marvel) #3 will be one of those books.

New Avengers (2013 3rd Series) #24 is an extra sized issue. It features a spectacular Gabriele Dell’Otto cover with Thanos. Beautiful work. It’s also a part of Marvel’s “In Eight months – Time Runs Out” deal.

Robert Kirkman continues his onslaught of sold out comics. Can this dude do no wrong right now? Be very sure to buy Outcast (2014 Image) #4 this week. Not only because it’s one of the hottest series on the planet right now, but because this issue introduces a major player into the fold. Let’s see, a mainstay character’s first appearance in a HOT comic series by Robert Kirkman? Uh yeah, buy this. Buy this comic regardless of the slight lull in the aftermarket. When the Outcast series picks up steam regarding a television show, you’re going to wish you had the back issues. Especially an early issue with a major intro like this one coming out this week. Did I mention it’s sold out?

…And another hot comic that has the comic fandom in a bit of a tizzy these days, sold out two consecutive times before and now this week marks its third sellout in a row; Wool (2014 Cryptozoic) #3. Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray continue to bring it.

Parallel Man (2014 Future Dude) #1 will be sold out in a week, should check that out. Roche Limit (2014) #1 will without a doubt be seeing a second printing very soon. It will be sold out by Friday my speculator friends, better get on this one. It’s a space opus, very interesting story, and a new Image comic……all adding up to the possibility of something special. Buy this comic. Town Called Dragon (2014 Legendary) #1 is on the verge of a sellout status.

IDW goes with their fourth volume in the G.I. Joe series with GI Joe (2014 IDW Volume 4) #1. The Cliff Chiang cover is selling very well.

That’s is for this week. See you soon.

Invest wisely.

Carpe Diem.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 8/20/14

IMG_0956InvestComics is at the ComiCONN in Connecticut this weekend. You should really hop on over to the InvestComics Instagram to check out the very cool images from the show. There is some awesome cosplay and so much more. Look for more pics to appear on the actual InvestComics site later. Special thanks goes out to the InvestComics VP Rafael Rosario (@ratchetcitycomics) for holding up the fort at the show.  His north east coverage this year has been outstanding.

Next stop; Baltimore Con and the New York Comic Con. We’re looking forward to those!

Not much in the way of the speculation market this week, but plenty of new reads. Now is a good time to get your inventory in order and look for those back issues you have been putting off. But, we can start fun speculation mayhem if you’d want to be a part of it! Details below……!

[scrollGallery id=366]

The spec market possibly turns your two purchases of $3.50 and $3.99 into the black with Fade Out (2014 Image) #1 and  Delinquents (2014 Valiant) #1. Fade Out #1 is already sold out as I knew it would be. It’s a new story written by the awesome Ed Brubaker told in the noir style genre. Image Comics and Mr. Brubaker are possibly doing some foreshadowing with the release of the Fade Out #1 movie magazine sized variant, which also happens to be sold out. What does this all mean really? Nothing if the story doesn’t hold up or we get delays with the issue releases. Otherwise, there will be a quick spike in the aftermarket with this title. The magazine variant is an odd approach though. Will comic speculators embrace it? We will see. As for Delinquents #1, Valiant may have a home run on their hands here. The wildly popular Quantum and Woody team up with Archer and Armstrong. The comic right now is showing some nice sales and will eventually sell out. However, with that said, the new Valiant comics aren’t really a high priced turnover marketable seller. Maybe this comic will be a part of the scarce few that have made a bump in the aftermarket. A nice $50 variant sits out there. A big risk for the speculator here. The only way to possibly make a turnover on this comic would be to get it signature series graded. It must pull a 9.8 or higher to make any sort of money here. A higher risk than I personally would take. So the Fade Out #1 from Image Comics would be the better buy of the two here by a large margin. Do know this though; Delinquents #1 will be a stellar read.

Enormous from 215 Ink continues to do well. Enormous (2014) Ongoing #3 is sold out. That makes three sell outs in a row.

Little Nemo Return to Slumberland (2014 IDW) #1 looks like a winner from IDW as does Giant Robot Warrior Maintenance Crew (2014) #1 from Cosmic Times.

Here are the rest you should check out at your local comic shop this week; Dark Horse Presents (2014 3rd Series) #1, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014 IDW) Annual #1, Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman (2014) #1, Super Secret Crisis War Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy (2014) #1, and Steampunk Battlestar Galactica 1880 (2014 Dynamite) #1.

The_New_Teen_Titans_16….And then there is Multiversity (2014 DC) #1. Legend Grant Morrison is at the helm here, teaming up with the top artist in the industry to bring us “the biggest adventure in DC history”.  While I personally was never a big fan of the convoluted superheroes from different universes within the Multiverse; Superman Earth 23, or Flash Earth 18, or Earth this or that, I can’t help but to peg one character that peeks my interest in this new comic. Captain Carrot. Yes that’s right. Supposedly Captain Carrot will get a makeover as we’d never expect. That to me sounds like fun! Not the bazillion different confusing heroes from all of these various places, but Captain Carrot! Let’s get the buzz going with The New Teen Titans #16 (1982), the first appearance of Captain Carrot written by legend Roy Thomas. Let the world know that InvestComics started the momentum, the demand for The New Teen Titans #16 and that we want more Captain Carrot!

Invest wisely.

As I end each and every week with the words “Carpe Diem”, condolences to the Robin Williams family. Even the ever growing and popular InvestComics Facebook Group page was named “Investing in Comic books 101 (IC Poet Society)”.  You were an obvious influence. You will be missed.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 8/13/14

Archie_Dark_KnightBack in 2010 Archie Comics made history. Kevin Keller was a national story. It was media frenzy. Riverdale had its first gay character. And this week, without all of the fanfare this time around, Kevin Keller is about to rewrite the books for Archie Comics once again………this time as the first gay superhero. That’s right; Kevin will don a costume as a superhero in Kevin Keller (2012 Archie) #14, thus making him Archie Comics’ first gay superhero. Kevin Keller first appeared in Veronica #202.

Want to capitalize on Kevin Keller #14? Check out the Frank Miller Dark Knight homage variant. An absolute beauty. Buy this, sign it, grade it, sell it. You’ll make some nice cash.

Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #5 will see the new character Silk in full force. Definitely a character you should be following.

Want to know when and where the next big Batman storyline will take place? It’ll take place this fall, but you can catch the very beginning of that major plot line this week in Batman (2011 2nd Series) #34.

Judge Dredd Anderson Psi Division (2014 IDW) #1 will probably sell out this week. It’s a new series focused on Judge Cassandra Anderson. Her first appearance was in 2000 A.D. #150 (1980). Good luck finding that one in Near Mint condition. If the Judge Dredd movie was ever to expand, Cassandra would be a good place to start.

You’ll probably be seeing a lot of Action Lab Entertainment on the shelf this Wednesday. And this is an awesome thing. Action Lab Entertainment puts out a great product and it’s just a matter of time before the company makes a severe impact on the comic book market. Three number one comics from them hit this Wednesday. And it looks like three empty spots as well if you aren’t quick enough to grab a copy of any of them. F1rst Hero (2014 Action Lab) #1 feels like the best of the bunch, but not to say that Midnight Tiger (2014 Action Lab) #1 and Southern Dog (2014 Action Lab) #1 would not be just as good. Action Lab Entertainment is arriving, don’t miss this train.

Action_Lab

A new series from legends Matt Wagner and Simon Bisley will see some nice sales. Take a look at Tower Chronicles Dreadstalker (2014 Legendary) #0. Most likely some amazing storytelling and art.

An interesting number one issue from Boom this week; Hexed (2014 Boom) #1. Should check that one out.

Catch a new Inhuman named Flint in Inhuman (2014 Marvel) #3.

See you next week and remember to check us out on your mobile device.

Have a great week. Read and make some money too.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 7/23/14

Three very hot comics on the must buy list from the speculative side hit on Wednesday. Yes they will be great reads, but you may want to pick up an extra copy on each. On one though, you’ll have to do some very quick maneuvering. Life with Archie (2010) #37 is the quickie culprit here. This comic takes place one year after the death of Archie (Life of Archie #36). The death issue had close friends of mine, non-comic collecting, texting me about the death issue. So with that in mind, realizing that the death of Archie has reached the media and people who really don’t know the real deal about Life of Archie #36. It’s not really a death issue. It’s an alternate telling of his death. Archie will live on in the comic book world, in “real time” if you will. Again, keeping this all in perspective, the sold out Life of Archie #36 and the now Sold Out Life of Archie #37 will sell for a nice premium in the aftermarket…….but for an extremely limited time. Very limited. Cash out as quickly as possible with the fad of Archie’s death. Get the variants from names like Walt Simonson, Jill Thompson, or even Alex Ross to get the most bang for your buck. There are other very nice variants available, but these three just mentioned are good to almost guarantee a return on your money with extra to buy other significant comics coming out this week.

Significant like Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #4. Unlike the Archie book, this comic is a bit of a buy and hold pattern. It might be hot right out of the gate, or maybe not. Here’s the deal. Have we gone the route of other people bitten by THE radioactive spider? Sure we have. But these days things are a bit different. We get the attractive girl (look at that cover), we get a superstar Spider-Man writer at the helm (Dan Slott), we have Hollywood breathing down the neck of every possible character within the Marvel Universe right now (Black Cat IS coming), and simply put SILK looks bad ass. Maybe this will be an X-23 first appearance? NYX was not a hot book right away. Not until the collectors realized that X-23 was actually in that book that it went bonkers. The Marvel solicitations had no mention of X-23. The obvious difference with Silk’s first appearance is that we all know it’s coming. The key to this first appearance and how big it will be depends on Dan Slott. Will the writer build her up to be her own entity?…..Her own persona?…..Some serious character development to keep the attention of a reader? If all of these things line up there are a few things to consider here. A: She will eventually get her own comic, B: This will be the first appearance of any significant character HP72314 (2)out of a Spidey book in a while, and C: Amazing Spider-Man #1 a couple of months ago would be the first appearance of Silk. Well actually the girl that got bit by the Spider. Hang onto Amazing Spider-Man #3 coming this Wednesday; I see a lot of upside here with the new girl on the block, Silk.

The third must get this Wednesday is Ragnarok (2014 IDW) #1. Legend Walt Simonson brings fans a new epic comic. A sold out epic comic at that! The cover for some reason brings me back to Thor #337 (1983), in which Mr. Simonson was singlehandedly responsible for putting Thor back on the map. Jack Kirby….Walt Simonson. Get Ragnarok #1, if anything you have an awesome read ahead for you, but something tells me that this will fall in favor on the spec side.

….More upside, but in the reading department coming from IDW. Transformers vs G.I. Joe (2014 IDW) #1 is Sold Out across the board. Regular cover and variants! Not sure what all the fuss is about here. They first fought in 1987 (Marvel Comics) and they went  at it a few times after that. Some loyal fans looking for a good fight. Don’t expect aftermarket to be of any promise with this, but expect some butt kicking action!

Secret Origins (2014) 3rd Series #4 features a secret origin story on Harley Quinn by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. Superman (2011 3rd Series) #33 continues the focus on Ulysses as Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr. bring more mystery in the background of this issue.

Supreme Blue Rose (2014 Image) #1 is sold out at Diamond. Better take a look at that one. IDW pokes fun at Marvel’s Secret Wars, Civil War and DC’s Crisis with Super Secret Crisis War Johnny Bravo (2014) #1. Great stuff here.

Owlgirls (2014 Red Anvil) #1 is about sold out. Check out this one on the shelf. Tuki Save The Humans (2014) #1 from Cartoon Books is also one to check out.

…And rounding out the week with other books that look like fantastic reads; Zombie Tramp (2014) Ongoing #1, Monster Motors (2014 IDW) #1, Star Spangled War Stories G.I. Zombie (2014) #1 (a Jimmy Palmiotti/Justin Gray comic, definite awesome read here),  Victorian Secret Midwinter Special (2014) #1 (almost sold out),  and Storm (2014 3rd Series) #1.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem.

Comic Broker Report – Speculative Summer Special

Some of these may be easier to find than others.  Some you may have to expand on my own research as is the case with this first one.  Part of the appeal when collecting comics is finding that gem that has yet to be discovered by others.  Enjoy this list but remember you buy comics at your own risk.  Be very careful where you put your money and always do your own research.

Spawn Facts and Illusions VHS Set

index1108469

Todd McFarlane has announced one of his properties has studio hopes.  Realizing that all of his creations mostly suck people are speculating on Sam & Twitch.  I tend to agree.  The 26 issue run is quite impressive but they are part of a larger world and appeared first in Spawn 1.  Ok well there goes the idea of a rare first appearance right?  Turns out Spawn 1 was released earlier in this VHS coddball set.  One thing that is pretty cool about it, this little comic was included.  Does it feature Sam & Twitch in any capacity? If so this would supplant Spawn 1 as their first appearance.  Unfortunately these are so rare that I cannot track one down to confirm.  Also the Printing of the included Spawn 1 appears to be no different from the Direct or Newsstand we all know.

For those who think  Haunt should be in the mix too:

Vertigo Defy

First appearance of the The Wake and others.  The Wake will eventually be made into a film.  When it does people will realize it was previewed in this throw away.  Lucky for you that knowledge will already be yours!

Danger Mouse 1982 Annual

2557618-dmann82

Ok even I cannot confirm this one but Danger Mouse’s first American Comic appearance is in Count Duckula 3.  He appeared overseas earlier in Annuals and the magazine Look-in.  To my knowledge this issue contains his first printed comics outside of Look-In.  So why should you care?  New shows are coming!

What’s Next ( Image )

So  Rat Queens is hot hot hot!  Personally I’m lukewarm on it.  Don’t get me wrong it has potential but it’s a newbie and that makes me cautious long term despite TV news.   This one is already gaining traction on the back issue market and is similar to The Image Winter Special relationship to the Walking Dead.  It prints a Rat Queens tale that has yet to printed elsewhere.

The Intrepids 1,1 ( second Print )

intrepids_01_cover1021099

Interest could spark in all of Mr. Wiebes work.  These are affordable but there is an Emerald City Con Variant which is tougher to track down.

Marvel Premiere two-in-one 52  ( First Crossfire )

13042_20051224085501_large

Darren Cross is the Ant-Man villain?  Who?  Oh the guy who appeared in fewer issue than Kurse.  Marvel sure loves some obscure antagonists.  Darren first appeared in the already pricey Marvel Premiere 47 & 48 so they should already be on your list.  Since Crossfire is related to Darren Cross he could end up filing a role akin to Crossbones in the Winter Soldier.

Nutty 1

1341548-nutty1 first bananaman

If the return of Danger Mouse is possible why not Bananaman?

 Malignant Man 1-4

mXV3xbP2WhfNTIv9NYPaOCQ

Unfortunately Fox has not picked up a gem.  These  will be tough to track down as it is a few years old and the demand created by it’s limited availability will bump up online prices.    First to market may have already passed by the time you read my article  as news broke days ago.  Sell now if you have em’ but I would invest my time in other bins.

IDW 2014 Summer Catalog

2014IDWCatalog-1

Another preview has a two page spread of V-Wars!  With a show coming this one could explode.
