The offspring of Supes and Bats have made quite the name for themselves these days. So enter DC’s next big hit series, Super Sons #1. Could you imagine if DC/Warner Bros ever got their act together and made an amazing “Spielberg” feel/type of Super Sons film? It would appeal to everyone. Everyone, meaning tapping the young audience and female audience. It would be the equivalent of Marvel’s Power Pack. We said it years ago about Power Pack for Marvel, what is Disney waiting for? Super Sons #1 from writer Peter J Tomasi and artist Jorge Jimenez.
Jim Lee’s Wildstorm will be reintroduced to comic book fans. This time as Wild Storm. They made a bold new change and made Wildstorm two words. Crazy right?? Anyway, Wild Storm #1 will bring writer Warren Ellis on board along with artist Jon Davis-Hunt. Creator of Wildstorm, Jim Lee, has a variant accompanying the big release, but it’s the regular Jon Davis-Hunt cover that will have fans really turning their heads.

We pointed out the love we had for the new DC Odyssey Of The Amazons series. We also pointed out the possible plethora of new characters that will appear within this series. This Wednesday, Odyssey Of The Amazons #2 will be more of the same. Great storytelling and new characters, what more does one need?
A new story begins in Justice League #15, ‘Timeless’. A possible first appearance here. The new storyline will be brought to us by Bryan Hitch (writer) and Fernando Pasarin (artist).

Ryan Ottley provides the Youngblood tribute cover. Other tribute covers we dig, Kill Or Be Killed #6 Dead tribute cover. The Walking Dead #164 Wild tribute cover.

Aaron Lopresti’s Power Cubed #2 (Dark Horse) follows up on the first fantastic issue. Doesn’t that look like Marvel’s Devil Dinosaur on the cover though? Guess any red colored T-Rex will look like Devil dinosaur right? Also coming from Dark Horse this week is Steam Man #1. That comic caters to the steampunk fans.

DC continues the deep origin the Arkham Knight in Batman Arkham Knight Genesis #3.

The Justice League team have new powers and are all “God like”. The new powered Justice League team appears in this weeks Justice League #45.

For those interested, Teen Titans Hunt #1 will focus on the secret origin of the team.

Some of the best reading source material comes from DC’s imprint Vertigo. This week Gail Simone writes Clean Room #1 from Vertigo. There’s not much else to say here, but this will probably be a very good read.

The Invincible title will dare to reboot itself? Check out Invincible #124 as everything in the comic starts from the beginning? Only Robert Kirkman would do this to us. This is probably a fantastic jumping on point too.

An Inhuman stars in his own book this Wednesday. Karnak #1 written by the awesome Warren Ellis. A pick up for sure. Also, Karnak first appears in a book InvestComics has been touting for years now; Fantastic Four #45 (1965). We’re still a bull on this comic.

The number one issue parade continues onward for Marvel Comics this week. Astonishing Ant-Man #1 looks like a decent book, but haven’t we all seen the movie though? And what’s with all the characters on the Mark Brooks cover? Secret Wars Agents Of Atlas #1 will throw a bunch of characters together in hopes you at least like one of them and buy the book.

Speaking of the Inhumans. The new Uncanny Inhumans #1 comic is very iffy. It’s an all new line up; Human Torch? Beast? We’re not really feeling the additions here. The old team is where it’s at. A great creative lineup could sway many readers and collectors alike that are not grasping the initial vibe here. Charles Soule writes and Steve McNiven does the art.

New Star Wars comic; Darth Vader #11. More fantastic Star Wars material from Marvel.

Here are a few possible first appearances to look for this Wednesday. Lobo Vol 3 #9, the first appearance of Wyvern Cross? Not too sure. We found Alex Wyvern. DC fans, help us out, same dude or not? As a regular reader on the InvestComics website, you should know by now that we tell you every month to buy up the Star Wars comics. Not only are you buying good stories, but you’re getting a potential aftermarket bump speculative comic each and every time. The Star Wars craze is still five months away, but the new Marvel comics are reacting now. Any sign of a new character or major plot line and the market instantly reacts. Darth Vader #8 this Wednesday will be a book to buy. An introduction? Maybe. If not, you have great reading on your hands anyway. Worth the $4.99. It’s a win-win. Check out Guardians Of Knowhere #2, new character Yotat graces the cover. And finally, Detective Comics #43. First off, what a fantastic cover from Francis Manapul. And check out a new weapon in this comic to take down Bats and his team.

The Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows story line is firing on all cylinders. Spider-Man seems to always have a hit story line these days right? Well this week Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #3 will hit and the Comicxposure variant is a biggie. Look at that cover by Mike Deodato Jr. Awesome right? Maybe InvestComics will give one of these away! Stay tuned! In the meantime click the link and head on over to Comicxposure. Buy the variant before they are all gone.

Before moving on here. A reminder as we have mentioned so many times in the past here on InvestComics. Just because a comic is sold out does not mean there will be monetary gains to be had. At the end of the day, the sold out comic must bring something tangible to the table. Besides the obvious first appearance factor for a speculative book, It must bring a buzz/interest for fans to come back to buy more. Publishers have the responsibility to provide an on time comic to sustain that interest and buzz. If the comic comes out on time and the buzz sustains and the interest is there, it’s a mix for possible success within the aftermarket. A sold out comic does not mean aftermarket success. Many factors go into why a comic does well for speculators after its release. Know the guidelines, follow InvestComics to give you the scoops all the time on how to watch for these things. Another reason is the release count. This plays a huge part in the process as well. Too many copies make for a watered down product, thus affecting your bottom line. See, many factors. Stick around here as you do, you’ll learn the real factors as to why things do what they do in the market. We are the number one comic book speculation website for a reason. And thanks to all of you of course. So let’s move along shall we?

Another slow week for the speculator. This means, as it always does, time to hit those bins hard, and scour the walls at your local shop for that gem.

Not too much coming out of a relatively quiet Thursday from the San Diego Comic Con. A couple of things; DC’s Vertigo imprint announced 12 new titles coming this fall, Hasbro’s Stormtrooper figure (the black series) caused near riots, and Image’s Invincible should have a video game/cartoon or something going by next year. Click the red link to buy the first full appearance of Invincible right now. We await several things from SDCC 2015. A possible full trailer for Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, a look at the Justice League team together, plus a surprise was announced that includes Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Image Comics’ Outcast trailer, Marvel news, Valiant Entertainment news, and whatever else we aren’t expecting! Be sure to stick with the InvestComics social media for possible tidbits on some key comics regarding the show.

And click HERE for the full list of exclusive items for SDCC 2015. A boatload of goodies!

Harley Quinn #18 features an appearance by Captain Strong. His last known appearance was in 1986. Welcome back Captain! The neat cover here actually not only pays homage to a 1973 cover, but it also happens to be the first appearance too. Action Comics #421 (1973) is the first appearance of Captain Strong and the original cover to this weeks Harley book. Here’s the thing, a 9.6 on Ebay right now is only $200. Yes granted, we’re talking a fourth rate character, but still a better buy than a majority of these ridiculous variants at $200. InvestComics has always said to sell your moderns and buy those back issues. Well here’s your chance. A first appearance from 1973 that includes names like Curt Swan and Dick Giordano in it? 9.6 for $200 no less? A no-brainer here.

Now let’s talk about another Captain arriving this Wednesday. Check out Captain Britain and the Mighty Defenders #1. Looks like a fun book. It’s always great to see Captain Britain in a title isn’t it? A comic InvestComics has been recommending for years now; Marvel Team-Up #65 (1978). It’s the U.S. Debut of Captain Britain. A comic written by Chris Claremont, drawn by John Byrne, and a cover from George Perez/Joe Sinnott. We recommended this comic when it was a $1 book for years. Now it seems to have climbed a bit from that $1 bid. Should have listened! Seriously though, what is not to love about this comic? And this also applies to the Defenders as well. Their first appearance; Marvel Feature #1 (1971). We recommended at $50. Should have listened!

Ant-Man Annual #1; this comic has it all really. A Hank Pym/Scott Lang team-up, a villain from the past comes back, and an introduction of a new character. Yes, this is a pick up this week.

While we eagerly await possible news coming from the Valiant Entertainment group at SDCC, we can look forward to Book of Death #1 this Wednesday. Valiant will start their all new event saga right here. Written by Robert Venditti, art by Doug Braithewaite and Robert Gill. Yes a hit for sure brewing here. Looking forward to a great read.

Here are a few more comics to check out on new comic book day; Rivers of London Body Work #1 (Titan Comics) is sold out. Godzilla In Hell #1 (IDW Publishing). Island #1 (Image Comics). Mercury Heat #1 (Avatar Press).

Each week InvestComics will bring readers a few comics that have been long since forgotten. There is no redeeming value what so ever, but great reading value here. And that in itself is the best value any collector could get out of comics. So take a read about some of these once hot books and not so hot books back in the day. Happy hunting!

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now

Zot #1 (1984) – This series was a popular one back in the 80’s. It’s a Scott McCloud creation. It was from Eclipse Comics, which put out some great comics. Zot lasted about 40 issues or so. The first issue is a scarce get.

Jack of Hearts #1 (1984) – One of the best D level Marvel characters ever. Back in 1984, this limited series hit with little fanfare, but was still a great read. Writer Bill Mantlo brought Jack of Hearts to a new level here. So much so (insert sarcasm here) that Jack of Hearts went on to appear about 10 more times in various comics in the next 7 years. Jack first appeared in The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #22 (Cameo). His first full appearance is in the next issue; The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #23. Here’s a cool thing here. The creator of Jack of Hearts (Bill Mantlo) teamed with the great Keith Giffen on the cameo issue, then teamed with Legend Gil Kane for the first full appearance. That’s an impressive cameo and first right? Oh Jack of Hearts where art thou?

Six From Sirius #1 (1984) – An amazingly fun four part space epic from Marvel’s imprint Epic Comics. Writen by Doug Moench and pencils by Paul Gulacy. The series did well and spawned another limited series a year later. Rumors had this coming to the big screen a few times, but who knows if that will ever happen. A great story here nonetheless.

Vigilante #1 (1983) – Boy was this a great comic back in the 80’s. With Marvel’s Punisher character gaining more popularity, DC gave fans Vigilante and it was spectacularly fun. Brought to you by the always reliable great storyteller Marv Wolman and art by Keith Pollard. Vigilante’s first appearance was in New Teen Titans Annual #2 (Adrian Chase). The series went on to last only 50 issues, but what a fantastic action packed comic book run it was. Alan Moore and Gil Kane were part of this great series. Vigilante #50 was a controversial issue because Vigilante took his own life, thus ending the series of course. A scarce series ending issue. Low print run.

The Badger #1 (1983) – Speaking of fun action packed comics, The Badger was just that. Capital Comics had a few comics that are worth looks, this was one of them. They went out of business and Badger moved on to First Comics as of issue #5. Writer Mike Baron at the helm here. A great independent title that lasted 70 issues.

Blue Devil #1 (1984) – Here is a DC rated D character that first appeared in The Fury of Firestorm #24. An engaging character that never really caught on with many, but did have a following. The series went on to last 31 issues, but Blue Devil has appeared throughout the DC Universe on a regular basis despite the non demand for him thereafter. He recently showed up in one of the InvestComics Hot Picks (#369) Justice League #40. And this book is semi-hot right not. Not because of Blue Devil.

Jemm Son of Saturn #1 (1984) – Here is the first appearance of this character in a 12 issue limited series. Jemm goes on to make brief appearances, but never takes on a leadership role. Another D level character here. An interesting limited series featuring Superman in issues 3-6. Gene Colon pencils. Jemm also appears in the recent Justice League #40.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which includes the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from sales made to thousands of comic book specialty shops located in North America and around the world. Additional sales made to online merchants and other specialty retailers may be included as well.

Unit and dollar market shares are calculated based upon orders for comic books, graphic novels, and magazines invoiced and shipped to Diamond customers during any given month, which comprises pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable. Please note that comics marked with an asterisk (*) have had their reported quantities reduced due to retailer returnability, and thus may rank lower on the charts than their actual sales would reflect.

Diamond_logoThe New Titles Count Chart includes all titles that were invoiced by Diamond to retailers for the first time during the month and is not the official solicited title count for the month. Variant edition comic books and graphic novels at the same price point count as a single SKU. Variant edition comic books, lenticular covers, digital combo packs, and graphic novels at different price points count as separate SKUs for each edition.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 8/27/14

1973237

Ultimate Spider-Man #29

Wool was optioned for a movie. That prompted issue number to be sold out and with that, Wool (2014 Cryptozoic) #2 has sold out now too. Stay close to this series for now. Remember, just because a comic book was optioned does not mean anything will ever materialize. Many times the comic market has a knee jerk reaction to the news and then many are stuck with comics that are impossible to sell. The best we do get though are great stories to read.

This week Superman (2011 3rd Series) #34 sees the introduction of the villain known as Machinist. Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr. are giving the fans what they want, some new life breathe into DC’s flagship title. Is this in fact a first appearance though or just a New 52 first appearance? The Machinist first appeared in Wildstorm #1 (2006).  Same dude? Probably not.

Robert Kirkman’s Outcast continues to garner attention. The latest edition; Outcast (2014 Image) #3 comes out this week. Issue one and two sold out. Look for issue three to follow that trend.

Last week I recommended Teen Titans #16 (1982), It’s the first appearance of Captain Carrot. I was having some fun and wanted to set a trend to make the book hot. This week I will revisit the wacky, but first let me make a point…….quite a few InvestComics Hot Picks ago I explained that Marvel’s Spider-Verse saga was all a basic ploy to see which solo spider books they can possibly get off the ground and sell. Spider-Verse will bring every single Spider-Man character ever front and center. I compiled a huge Spider-Verse list of the many faces of Spider-Man. It’s a list you’d probably want to keep handy given all of the new Spider characters we’ll see popping up or getting their own comic. Like the new Spider-Woman title. How about a new Peter Porker comic? Wait Peter Porker? Yes. Check out Ultimate Spider-Man (2012 Marvel Universe) #29; Spider-Ham has taken over. So expect A LOT more Spidey books and take overs to occur moving onward towards Spider-Verse, before, during and after. Now let’s get back to the wacky stuff. Peter Porker first appeared in Marvel Tails Starring Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham #1 (1982). The Ultimate Spider-Ham first appeared in Ultimate FF #5 (2014). Awesome! Let Spider-Verse begin! And click right HERE to check out that InvestComics Spider-Verse Checklist, some great hidden gems in there.

[scrollGallery id=368]

Secret Origins (2014) 3rd Series #5 will focus on the character Cyborg. I have recommended DC Comics Presents #26 (1980) countless times throughout the years. This comic of course features the first appearance of the New Teen Titans and several new characters. It’s a very obtainable book, not scarce at all. The main reason for the prices to be where they are at. Cyborg first appeared in DCP #26 and he’s also going to be in the Superman vs. Batman film. Will we also get a Teen Titans spin off from this film besides the Justice League? Most likely yes, so buckle in and get ready for DC Comics Presents to become an even hotter book way down the line somewhere. It’s going to be a way for Warner Bros. to attract that younger core audience. The book is an absolute bargain right now with average RAW prices on Ebay going in the $60 range. A 9.2 graded sold for $135 and a 7.5 sold for $81. So here’s what you do. Buy yourself a high grade raw copy. Get George Perez and Marv Wolfman to sign it (get a witness). Grade it, and you have yourself a wonderful resale right now, but more so in the future.

DC Comics Presents #26 (1980) First Appearance of The New Teen Titans.

Adventures of Superman (2013) 2nd Series #16 will give a semi-Superman history lesson told by Kamandi. This history class won’t be a bore! Various artists contribute to the different Supermen throughout the years. Should be a great nostalgic look and read.

The Fox channel has a hit on their hands with the show Bob’s Burgers. Now that hit series will become a comic book for the first time; Bobs Burgers (2014) #1. Look for the Midtown Comics Exclusive for only $10. Get some of the cast to sign it. Have it witnessed of course and grade it. It’ll be a unique book to resell to a Bob’s Burgers fan.

Face Value #1 from Autism at Face Value brings the topic of autism front and center. Heroes with autism. It’s an important awareness comic that everyone should check out. If you’d like to learn more about autism and donate go right HERE to the Autism Research Institution.

Other comics you definitely need to check out this week are Wayward (2014 Image) #1, Pop (2014 Dark Horse) #1, Jaegir (2014) #0, Hero Cats (2014 Action Lab) #1, Brainstorm (2014) #1, Shinobi Ninja Princess (2014) #1, and Sundowners (2014) #1.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 5/21/14

If you haven’t joined the InvestComics group on Facebook: Investing in Comic books 101 (IC Poet Society), you really should. There are some real collectors giving their advice on the market, giving new books to hunt down, and talking comics in general. Come join Gary, Aaron, Jeremy, Cliff, Paul, and many others as they sound off and help everyone get an edge on the spec market! Click the above link for an invite.

A few things you should check out on the InvestComics Ebay page. The sold out Walking Dead #127 is available; A CGC Signature Series (J. Scott Campbell) Variant Superior Spider-Man #29 has been reduced. Get this before it’s gobbled up. And a Superior Spider-Man #30, marking the return of Peter Parker. Go check out the auctions and bid away! Click HERE to go now.

There are a few comics for the speculator to definitely check out this week.

One of the first books that should be on your radar is MPH (2014 Image) #1. There happens to be a rare occurrence with this book. It was picked up by a Hollywood producer, who’s credits consist of the Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Red to name a few. This marks a time within the comic book genre that a comic book pre-release has been optioned for a movie. What does this mean to the collector? Well it probably means that MPH will be sold out and going for a few bucks on Ebay. So if you see it on the shelf at your local comic shop, get it and reap the benefits.

[scrollGallery id=351]

Invincible (2003) #111 will begin an all-new direction and Image Comics will let comic collectors know it. Look at all of the number one numbers sprawled out all over that cover. It seems more of a mock to the DC/Marvel guys/gals, but still a new direction nonetheless. A definite pick up because it’s completely sold out on the distributor level. So I guess the number one thingy works!  It’s also available in a super cool sketch cover. Do note too that InvestComics has been saying for years that Invincible will be huge one day. Be it a cartoon, movie, and or a television show, but this character will have a big breakout one day and you better be prepared.

The hot series Saga looks like it will heat up again with Saga (2012 Image) #19. All new characters and new storyline will bring renewed interest to this already hot title. This comic is not available for reorder, it’s sold out.

Marvel Comics will bring back a team from 1981 this week. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends! Although it’s not solicited that way, it’s still the team from 1981. It does something about their “amazing friendship”, but we get it. The team consisted of Spidey, Iceman, and Firestar. Amazing X-Men (2013) #7 will star the team and if you’re interested, the first appearance of this team happened in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends #1 (1981). Deadpool (2012 3rd Series) Annual #2 will have Wade playing dress-up. Dressing up as Spidey. That’s always fun. Maybe he’ll make the ultra InvestComics Spider-Verse Checklist right HERE!

Justice League (2011) #30 will have all sorts of cool things going on in it. New team, new villain, and it feels like a fun read. The new Batman ’66 (2013 DC) #11 will feature just about every Batman ever. That should be fun too!

Indestructible (2013 IDW) #6 will introduce a new villain. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 30th Anniversary Special (2014) #1 will be a nice book to pick up. It’s chock full of various artist contributing to the likes of TMNT. The thing to do with this particular comic is to get both Eastman and Laird’s signature on it (CGC witness of course) and grade it. It will bring many happy returns to you.

Warlord of Oz (2014) #1 will bring the Wizard of Oz unto another whole new level as only Zenescope can. It’s just about to reach the sold out status at the distributor. Although Zenescope puts out a fantastic product, the spec market is never too kind. The turnover value is never that good if at all actually. That said, they put out some great stories!

There are some Independent comics that you may want to pull off the new wall this week. Ordinary (2014) #1 is not only sold out, but it might be one of those that gets some Hollywood looks.  Two more comics to possibly look at the same way are Last Broadcast (2014 Boom) #1 and Henchmen (2014) #1. Henchmen #1 is already sold out.

The rest of the pot; Legend of Bold Riley (2014) #1 (sold out), Itty Bitty Bunnies In Rainbow Pixie Candy Land (2014) #1, and Littlest Pet Shop (2014 IDW) #1.

Invest wisely.

Carpe Diem.

Big post FOREVER EVIL Changes for JUSTICE LEAGUE books

Changes, we knew they were coming; partly, because shaking up status quo has become the status quo in comics in recent years, but mostly because Geoff Johns has openly stated that changes were coming. That’s usually a good hint.

Well, today some of those changes have been revealed, and they’re doozies! On one hand, Jeff Lemire’s teased JUSTICE LEAGUE CANADA has been redubbed JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED. Fret not, oh neighbors to the north, JLU will still be based in Canada, but they’ve expanded their scope, patrolling all corners of the DCU, including space. Which makes sense considering Martina Manhunter and Adam Strange will amongst the ranks. DC shared the news with USA TODAY, including the starting roster of Animal Man, Supergirl (non Red Lantern variety, at least on the cover), Martian Manhunter, Star Girl, Green Arrow, and Adam Strange, whose wife, Alanna will play more of the hero role.

“Maybe the swashbuckling space hero we’re used to from Adam Strange would probably describe Alanna a bit more. Adam’s a bit more of a nerdy science guy. He’s not so much the swashbuckling one.”

JUSTICE LEAGUE UNITED will eventually get a new teen member from Ontario area, and will interact with Hawkman and Thannagar in their second arc. The book will be drawn by fan fave Mike McKone.

JLU-Cv0-var

In even BIGGER news, Geoff Johns told Newsarama that there will be a shake-up to the JUSTICE LEAGUE roster in April. Brace yourselves…post Forever Evil, LEX LUTHOR and CAPTAIN COLD are joining the Justice League! Yup, check out the cover to issue #30, which shows Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Shazam, Lex Luthor and Captain Cold. Absent from the cover are Superman and Flash, presumable over irreconcilable differences.  It’s also interesting to note that there are no Green Lanterns on either team. Hal had left the JL awhile ago, and Guy, now a Red Lantern had the Justice League International dissolve out from under him. Which leaves us wondering where Simon Baz ends up.

DC Entertainment Kicks Off San Diego Comic-Con With One-Of-A-Kind Justice League Car

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DC ENTERTAINMENT KICKS OFF SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON BY UNVEILING ONE-OF-A-KIND JUSTICE LEAGUE CAR

Kia Motors America Teams Up with Industry Legend Jim Lee to Customize Vehicle On-Site in Front of Live Audience; All to Support ‘We Can Be Heroes’ Giving Campaign

eBay Hosts 10-Day Online Charity Auction to Benefit the Horn of Africa

SAN DIEGO (July 17, 2013) – DC Entertainment (DCE) opened San Diego Comic-Con today with a blend of artistry and giving, unveiling the  JUSTICE LEAGUE-inspired Kia Sorento, the eighth and final custom vehicle built in partnership with Kia Motors America.  The Sorento’s eye-catching design was penned by legendary comic book artist and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee, who completed the customization of the car before a live audience. Created to raise awareness of DC Entertainment’s “We Can Be Heroes” giving campaign, the collection of all eight JUSTICE LEAGUE-inspired Kia vehicles will be on display throughout Comic-Con at the Interactive Zone at Petco Park, Official Comic-Con Partner.

Following the unveiling, DCE President Diane Nelson announced that the newly revealed JUSTICE LEAGUE car would be the centerpiece of a special online charity auction on eBay which benefits the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign. Nelson announced that the 10-day charity auction was now live through July 27, 2013 at www.ebay.com/wecanbeheroes.

[bliptv AYOT9SkA.x]

“Our goal in 2013 was to bring our fans and the JUSTICE LEAGUE Super Heroes together in unique ways to fight the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. That effort started with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities we’ve been able to offer through our crowdfunding campaigns that have raised over $285,000 to-date,” Nelson said. “Now, through these tremendous partnerships with Kia and eBay, the auction will take the offerings to a whole new level with a truly one-of-a-kind, and fully driveable, CUV customized by Jim Lee.”

The seven-seat Sorento marks the final chapter in a 10-month, eight-vehicle partnership between DC Entertainment and Kia based on the iconic characters that make up the JUSTICE LEAGUE – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg – each of which are featured on their own car designed by Lee. The final car captures the entire JUSTICE LEAGUE, as drawn by Jim Lee, with world-famous West Coast Customs recreating Lee’s artwork through hand-painted, custom air-brushing.

“This project has been challenging and rewarding for me as an artist and Kia has been a terrific partner,” Lee said. “It was a lot of fun to finish the last car in front of the live audience and I think anyone that visits the exhibit this week will really enjoy seeing all eight cars together.”

The online charity auction also includes spectacular artwork from some of today’s top contemporary artists and inspired by DC Comics’ JUSTICE LEAGUE characters.  The centerpiece of this collection is Justice, a large-scale piece of original artwork by Jim Lee that features the profile of Batman in a color palette inspired by the hues of Africa – yellow, green, red and black.

“Auctioning the Justice League-inspired Sorento is the perfect way to finish off what has been a very positive and successful partnership between Kia and DC Entertainment to benefit the ‘We Can Be Heroes’ campaign,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing & communications, Kia Motors America. “Like all of the Justice League-inspired vehicles before it, this customized Sorento blends the automotive and pop-culture worlds while also allowing Kia to extend our philanthropic efforts to support this very worthy cause.”

“At eBay we strive to connect our audience with unique items they are passionate about” said Gene Cook, GM of Emerging Verticals for eBay.  “We are thrilled to partner with DC Entertainment to bring this exciting Justice League event to our comic and super hero enthusiasts as well as leverage our Giving Works platform help the “We Can Be Heroes” initiative reach their fundraising goals.”

To date, the We Can Be Heroes giving campaign has raised over $2.3 million and helped over 5 million men, women and children in the Horn of Africa.

DC COMICS 2013 – Sold Out – Out of Print Comics

DC COMICS 2013 – Sold Out – Out Of Print Comics

DCComics2013SoldOut

Diamond Distributors usually keeps some extra stock of all ongoing DC titles available for retailers.  This usually means in most cases you can go back a full year and still order copies of any issue.   Only surprise sell out books will completely vanish from inventory which may lead to 2nd printings for some books.   This is not very common for DC.  However its very common for Marvel.

DC restarted almost all of their titles with new #1 issues in the fall of 2011.   Almost the first 7 issues of every single “New 52” title has been sold out at Diamond.

I have personally looked up every single DC Comic that Diamond currently has in stock.

This list includes all 70 ongoing titles as of August 2013 release date.

The list below is the exact list of all available comics (1st printings only) that you can STILL GET your local comic shop to order for you.

This list is also interesting because it shows which titles continually sell out each month.

If you are a speculator there are two things that have to happen for a comic to go up in value.

First of  all Diamond needs to sell out, secondly most local comic shops need to sell out.

Therefore this list showing us what books have officially sold at Diamond will give you an idea of what books to hunt for.

Just selling out is still not a guarantee that a comic will go up in value.  BUT it MUST sell out if it will have any chance of going up in value in the future.   So far the most marked up back issues sold out that came out this year include Injustice Gods Among Us issues.

Thanks to Diamond Comics database for the most accurate details below.

EVERY #1 ISSUE of 2013 – All New Comic Book Series Debuted This Year and Sales Stats

Comics Best Selling First Issues 2013

EVERY #1 ISSUE OF 2013 – All new comic book series debuted this year and sales stats

Report by Terry Hoknes of www.HoknesComics.com

The following massive chart is to be a basic index to all the new comic series that debut each month.  Its a quick look at the most ordered and best selling #1 issues of every single month plus a great reference to look back at and see what comics are likely to be future hot books.  As we all know the industry has always invested the most in #1 first issues  So now you have a list of all of them at your fingertips showing their print runs.  This list also includes one-shots, Annual #1′s and #0′s as well.

The first column is the comics rank for the month for #1 issues.  The second column is its overall rank for all comics that month.

so far this year Marvel has had the #1 ranking #1 issue of the month 4 out of 6 times.

Jupiters Legacy and Walking Dead:  Governors Special are the only #1 issues non-DC/Marvel to sell over 50,000 copies.

Only 13 #1 issues so far this year had sales of over 100,000 copies.

Only 3 #1 issues so far this year had sales of over 200,000 copies

Top Selling #1 issues so far of 2013 (plus how many copies Diamond still has in inventory as of today)

Target and Warner Bros. Consumer Products Team Up to Reimagine Justice League Merchandise

Summer collection inspired by exclusive visit to the DC Comics archives

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, Target® Corp. (NYSE: TGT) and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, in partnership with DC Entertainment, have teamed up to introduce an extensive summer collection of exclusive Justice League merchandise. The summer collection was inspired by “DC Comics – The New 52” comic book character designs and holds surprises for fans young and old. Featuring the full lineup of DC Comics’ iconic Justice League Super Heroes – Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman and Wonder Woman – the summer collection will launch at all U.S. Target stores and on Target.com beginning May 19.

The summer collection was co-created by the Target and Warner Bros. Consumer Products design teams and features contemporary and nostalgic, vintage-inspired graphics and designs. With more than 50 summer products available exclusively at Target, guests will see the collection come to life in home, stationery, sporting goods, and lawn and garden. Some of the more unexpected items include melamine dinnerware that features a purple and pink-clad Wonder Woman; an apron that transforms the cook into Batman; sand toys that will help beach-goers create Gotham City; and children’s Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash beach towels that double as capes.

“We know Target’s guests love discovering unique merchandise, and this collection delivers the unexpected with a dash of great design. Fans of all ages are sure to love these one-of-a-kind summer items,” said Greg Van Bellinger, director of product design and development, Target.

“DC Comics’ Justice League characters are a powerful assemblage of the most recognizable Super Heroes in the history of comic books. We are incredibly excited to offer fans of all ages a unique collection and collaboration that pairs the heroics of the Justice League characters with the product design and marketing super powers of Target,” said Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

In addition to the exclusive summer collection, Target will be part of a broader partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products that will offer more traditional Justice League licensed products. The broader partnership will span more than 20 categories including home, stationery, toys, apparel and accessories. All Justice League licensed products will range from $1 for Justice League temporary tattoos to $59.99 for a Justice League Rocker Chair. Target will also offer Justice League Halloween costumes for kids later this year.

With the release of “Justice League #1” in 2011, DC Entertainment officially kicked off “DC Comics – The New 52” as part of a re-launch of their entire comic book line of 52 new number one issues. “DC Comics – The New 52” Super Heroes are presented in a more contemporary way, including new costumes, characters and storylines.

First look at AQUAMAN #17.

Yesterday, AQUAMAN #16 hit the shelves, continuing the JUSTICE LEAGUE/AQUAMAN crossover, THRONE OF ATLANTIS. Today, DC COMICS has posted a peak at Paul Pelletier’s pencils to issue #17.

They also teased some things, including appearances by Amanda Waller, The Sea Devils, and the introduction of a new castmember!

  • AQUAMAN #17 will serve as a “Throne of Atlantis” epilogue.
  • The issue will feature an appearance by the Sea Devils, who are not too happy about the post-“Throne of Atlantis” world … AT ALL.
  • Following the events of “Throne of Atlantis,” Amanda Waller’s hands will get dirty.
  • The issue will mark the debut of new cast member, Murk!
  • And finally, AQUAMAN #17 will thrust us right into the next major series arc – with an all-new villain destined to shake what you know about AQUAMAN to its core!

Hunger must be stopped! Quickly, Robin–to the Bat-KIA!

KIA MOTORS AND DC ENTERTAINMENT BAND TOGETHER TO CREATE A FLEET OF JUSTICE LEAGUE-INSPIRED VEHICLES FOR HUNGER-RELIEF EFFORT

Legendary Comic Artist Jim Lee is Overseeing the Creative Direction of Eight Individually Customized and Characterized Superhero Vehicles to be Unveiled at Major Events Around the Country Over the Next Ten Months

  • Batman-themed Optima will be first to be unveiled the same week as New York Comic-Con on October 10
  • As part of the partnership, Kia is teaming up with DC Entertainment’s “We Can Be Heroes” campaign to help fight hunger in the Horn of Africa

IRVINE, Calif., Oct 3, 2012 – Kia Motors America (KMA), one of the fastest-growing car companies in the U.S has joined forces with renowned comic book publisher DC Entertainment, to bring the World’s Greatest Super Heroes to life by combining automotive styling with comic book art.  The partnership, which will yield eight individually customized vehicles, harnesses the talents of legendary comic book artist and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee, who has collaborated on the design of each car with his vision for each iconic member of DC Comics’ Justice League.

Each core member of the Justice League line-up – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg – has been matched to a Kia vehicle based on key attributes and character traits to create custom, one-of-a-kind rides to be unveiled over the next ten months at major auto shows and comic conventions across the U.S.

The Kia-DC Entertainment partnership will yield a total of eight vehicles timed to be unveiled around five major events around the U.S., including New York Comic-Con, SEMA Show in Las Vegas, North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Wonder-Con and San Diego Comic-Con.  Many of Kia’s most recognizable and decorated models –  the Optima, Soul, Sorento, Sportage, Rio and Forte will wear the iconic colors and marks of the legendary Justice League Super Heroes and be built by West Coast Customs, RIDES magazine, Import Tuner magazine and others.

“Kia and DC Entertainment are both global brands sharing a youthful and creative mindset, and both serve to inspire and exhilarate their respective fan bases.” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president, marketing & communications, KMA.  “This partnership will allow us to band these two great brands together in an effort to make the world a better place through the ‘We Can Be Heroes’ campaign.  And with Jim Lee’s vision combined with the efforts of some of the best customizing shops in the business, it’s going to be a lot of fun unveiling these cars around the country.”

The partnership between KMA and DC Entertainment was conceived to benefit “We Can Be Heroes” (www.WeCanBeHeroes.org), a giving campaign, dedicated to helping fight hunger in the Horn of Africa and inspired by the heroism of the iconic Justice League characters.  “We Can Be Heroes” encourages everyday people to join the fight by getting involved and donating to bring help and hope to the people most affected by the hunger crisis.  Each vehicle will feature a customized piece of Lee’s specially-designed artwork to be auctioned at the conclusion of the program with all net proceeds going to the “We Can Be Heroes” program. In addition to the seven vehicles inspired by the individual superhero characters, the Kia-DC Entertainment partnership will culminate with a fully-drivable custom car that encompasses each member of the Justice League that will be auctioned off to raise money for the cause. Kia will help to raise awareness for the “We Can Be Heroes” campaign throughout the partnership through customized “We Can Be Heroes” license plates, signage, collateral materials and in-vehicle video displays.

“DC Entertainment is pleased to be partnering with Kia on this program to help raise awareness and funds for the devastating hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa,” said Amit Desai, SVP of franchise management, DC Entertainment.  “Each of the iconic members of the Justice League is a superhero in his or her own right, but when they band together as the Justice League, they become an unstoppable force for good and right.  The Justice League reminds us that when we combine our efforts with others, we can create a world of change.  And that we can do all that and more with style and panache.  The Justice League characters look amazing on some of Kia’s best-looking and technologically-advanced vehicles.”
