Batgirl #9 continues the Ethan Cobblepot story. Batgirl meets up with Ethan’s daddy; The Penguin. Writer Hope Larson, artist Christian Wildgoose.
Mitch Gerads’ Vigilante Southland #6 cover pays homage to Keith Pollard’s Vigilante #1 (1983).

Madame Hydra seems to be the one behind Steve Rogers becoming the ‘bad guy’. Find out in Captain America: Steve Rogers #14 what the Madam has been up to. Writer Nick Spencer and artist Javier Pina bring some(?) of the reasons as to why Steve Rogers is all about Hydra these days. Many fanboys had their panties all tied up too tight when Steve hailed Hydra a little while back and needed something to complain about instead of realizing that Marvel was telling a story. All will be well in given time, back to normal. It’s absurd how some fans were reacting. Getting back to Madam Hydra; her first appearance was in Captain America #110 (1969). Penciled by Jim Steranko and written by Stan Lee. Classic cover from Steranko.
A new Iron Fist #1 comic from writer Ed Brisson and artist Mike Perkins hits this Wednesday. We are quite sure this comic will get more respect than the new Netflix television show is getting. Lots of variant covers to choose from.

Get with it.  Writer Jeff Lemire brings the character Bloodshot into a new light with Bloodshot Reborn #0. Pencils from Renato Guedes.
Early critical acclaim for X-O Manowar #1 will send it back to the presses in a hurry. Look for a quick sellout from writer Matt Kindt and penciler Tomas Giorello.

Ms. Marvel #12 – The Red Widow Alessandro Taini variant is selling VERY well. We stated in the InvestComics Hot Picks #447 article that this issue features a 10 page story on Red Widow and we thought this could be Red Widow’s first cover appearance. Red Widow first appeared late last year in Mockingbird S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1 and hasn’t seen much action thereafter. Well, looks like Marvel is making their move. Both the regular cover and Taini variant is sold out.

Spook House #1 – New Albatross Exploding book. Eric Powell showed some muscle on his Hillbilly release. Will Spook House find the some success? There aren’t that many available on Ebay at the moment.

Skeptics #1 – The NYCC exclusive is having some good aftermarket success. The regular number issue comes out this Wednesday.

Seven To Eternity #2 – The number one issue exploded out of the gate. Issue number two comes this week.

Deadpool #21 – The introduction of Shakespool. To buy or not to buy?

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Swamp Thing #7 9.2 (1973). Last week we found a high grade Swamp Thing signed by legend Bernie Wrightson. This week we revisit Swamp Thing with issue number seven graded at 9.2. The highlights of this particular comic; The first meeting ever between Batman and Swamp Thing drawn by Bernie Wrightson. Fans of Bernie know that he is an amazing Batman artist. His Batman: The Cult series with Jim Starlin is a classic. A high grade first meeting done by a creative legend for only $99.

With all of the new DC Rebirth comics and Marvel relaunching so many titles as well, a collector has to keep on top of the number one books as far as first appearances go. It’s happening quite often. One of these new players can bust out in a big way, so as always, be on alert.

Wonder Woman fans and comic fans will be treated to an awesome book this week. Wonder Woman 75th Anniversary Special #1 will be a who’s who in the creative industry within these pages. Variants galore (Jim Lee! Sweet.), creators galore, new stories, and DC states that there will be creators that have never illustrated Wonder Woman in a comic before, but will do so for the first time here. A steep $7.99 price tag may keep some away, but a definite pick up for us.
Flash #9 cover pays homage to the classic Flash #123 (1961). Original cover by Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson. The Wednesday cover is by Carmine Di Giandomenico. What’s the odds of having two Carmine’s like that? Probably slim, but obviously possible.
A new Batman Beyond #1 from writer Dan Jurgens and artist Bernard Chang finds its way to a shelf near you. This number one makes its sixth volume debut. That’s a lot of number one debuts right? How about another sixth volume number one this week? Teen Titans #1 is also entering that six time debut issue this Wednesday.

From a sixth volume we go to a second volume. Detective Comics #943 may have a first appearance. Be on the look out for that. Rafael Albuquerque supplies a great second cover (B).
Speaking of covers, check out the Aco cover on Deathstroke #5. We love it.
A new DC Vigilante comic will be one to read this week; Vigilante Southland #1. We can’t help but reminisce about the first Vigilante series in the early 80’s that started off with writer Marv Wolfman and artist Keith Pollard in Vigilante #1 (1983). It lasted fifty issues with writer Paul Kupperberg and penciler Steve Erwin ending the series with an amazing story. Comic readers should definitely check out this short fifty issue series. Be prepared for an ending to this series as to none other in Vigilante #50. Click HERE to check out all the Vigilante comics available from all sellers on Ebay. Great series. We hope this Wednesday Gary Phillips (writer) and Elena Casagrande (artist) deliver as much fun as that 80’s series did. We have confidence they will. So we’ll be picking this up on new comic book day.

We informed readers a few weeks ago regarding the new Doctor Strange team (InvestComics Hot Picks #443). Seems like everyone is getting a team these days right? Anyway, the Wednesday Doctor Strange Sorcerers Supreme #1 will “debut” the Sorcerers Supreme team. As so Marvel may say, but we all know they debuted a few weeks ago in Doctor Strange Annual #1 as we already tipped you off.
The Doctor Strange movie must be drawing nearer because fans will be inundated with Strange books and appearances everywhere. Hence TWO number one comics released in the same week. Besides his new team book, comic fans will get Doctor Strange Mystic Apprentice #1.

Cover artist Alex Ross hits a home run with his All New All Different Avengers #15 cover. Stunning.
Marvel’s Civil War II is closing in on it’s final issue, so the battle intensifies. Civil War II #6; Check out that Marko Djurdjevic Spidey cover too. Caps in trouble!
The Punisher Annual #1 hits this week with one of the best Halloween covers from Marvel in a while. The cover is from Rahzzah.  Although the Ron Lim variant is awesome too. Wow on both.

Every month we will remind fans of the latest Spider-Man Deadpool release because we’ve told you time after time it will sell out. We’ve been saying this since issue number one. Spider-Man Deadpool #10 will be on the new release wall. It’ll probably….ah never mind, you get the idea.
Another one of our speculation calls comes to fruition. We called the Deadpool Mercs For Money characters to all get their own books soon back in January of this year. We provided everyone with their first appearances in the InvestComics Hot Picks #409 article and touched on these characters quite a few times thereafter. This week we see another one of those characters debuting in their own comic; Prowler #1.
….And Deadpool #21 this week debuts Shakespool. Need we say more on that one?

Ms. Marvel #12 will not only have a Red Widow 10 page story, but a Red Widow variant cover by Alessandro Taini as well. It’s quite awesome. We think this is the first Red Widow cover appearance since she first appeared in Mockingbird S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1 late last year.

Image Comics releases two second print number one issues this week. Surgeon #1 and Seven To Eternity #1. Both of these comics bring their second issue this week as well; Surgeon #2 and Seven To Eternity #2.
Fresh off of a huge New York Comic Con 2016 presence, Valiant Entertainment debuts a new Bloodshot series; Bloodshot USA #1. All the variants covers are amazing. We like the Doug Braithwaite as our favorite. Also, with every release we remind readers and collectors about Generation Zero from Valiant. We think Generation Zero is the modern day team for the modern day comic reader. Check out Generation Zero #3 this Wednesday.
Eric Powell’s imprint Albatross Exploding publishing are reaping the rewards from their hit comic Hillbilly. This week they will reap rewards once again with their kids anthology series Spookhouse #1. A collection of scary stories from yours truly; Eric Powell.
Black Mask Comics, is a small publisher with big idea’s. We say it ALL the time, buy Black Mask comics. They’re always quality reads and sometimes pay dividends on the speculative side. Can’t go wrong here. This week from Black Mask Comics; Skeptics #1.

Put together one of the most popular video games of all time with a popular genre of today and you’ll get Call of Duty Zombies #1 comic from Dark Horse.
Here are some other great indie comics to check out this week. Markiplier #1 (Red Giant Entertainment). Wolfcop #1 (Dynamite Entertainment). Inspector Oh #1 (Devils Due Publishing). Another Castle #5 (Kris Anka cover art).

Norman #3 – Each of the previous two comics sold out before this one. This one has sold out too! Titan Comics has a hit on their hands.

All-Star Batman #1 – We’re going to love reading this new Batman book. And we’re loving that Jock variant too!

Superwoman #1 – The very talented Phil Jimenez will write and draw this new Superwoman series. It’s going to be fantastic.

Deathstroke Rebirth #1 – Writer Christopher Priest starts things off with the Deathstroke Rebirth comic. This series will be a definite get each month. You must get this on your pull list.

Spider-Man Deadpool #8 – Marvel’s solicit says the same thing we’ve been saying since issue number one of this series. Buy it. Every issue sells out and we’ve told speculators this series is a no-brainer. Two of Disney’s biggest characters in their library. Put them together in a monthly team-up book and watch it fly off the shelf. And we predicted a while ago, you heard this HERE first….wait until they do a Spider-Man, Deapool, Spider-Gwen, Gwenpool team-up. Those variants will go for a heavy aftermarket premium.

Justice League #40

Click to Buy Now

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Justice League #40 (2015) 9.8. This modern comic is more about the new Justice League trailer and what the potential it could carry. The new trailer has Bruce Wayne building a team to defeat an evil like no one has ever seen. That evil, we hope, could be Darkseid. If Darkseid is the main villain (we hope), this comic possesses the first appearance of his daughter Grail (cameo). If the female presence continues to make their indelible mark within the comic book industry like they have never before, expect to possibly see Grail on the big screen. This comic will leave that $99.99 price tag long, long, long behind if Grail makes that leap to the big screen. A speculative move here indeed. You make the call.

Before reading ahead, we feel we need to warn you that our articles contain very harsh truths in them. Not vulgar language, just a good solid dose of honesty. They always have, they always will. If you are easily offended, cannot come to terms that other people have opinions too beside yourself and especially if you’re a fanboy, discontinue reading. Go back to the other places selling you the farm. This is NOT the place for you. We’re here to have fun and not lie to you. Thank you and enjoy!

We start off this week towards the speculative side of the hobby……
All-Star Batman #1 from DC Comics is one of those tough call speculator books. Not all all a question this comic will be a tremendous read (we hope anyway!). The book itself will bring sure-fire creative super power. Scott Snyder writes and John Romita Jr. will pencil. There will be other dynamic creators attached to this comic, but those two will get top billing. Scott Synder will be re-imagining Batman villains as we have never seen them before. That according to DC of course, don’t hold us to that. First up will be Two-Face. With all of the changes going on from DC from the past 10 years or so, will this be any different really? It’s a good possibility it will be “different”, but therein lay one of the issues as far as speculation goes. Just because something is different and touches off some fanboy nerve in a good way, it may drive the speculation market to max status. Here’s a question you must ask yourself, what happens once the romance wears off?
In recent memory one of the only books to sustain a monetary value and marketability with absolutely no redeeming comic book collector substance (first appearance, death, new character look, gender change character, etc) is Scott Synder/Greg Capullo Batman #1. We have stated this before in numerous articles, if you look at a graded copy, upper right hand corner, it’s completely blank. No first appearance, no appearances, no new costumes, nothing. That book still commands some decent aftermarket prices and it holds a fantastic beginning of a storybook run by two unbelievably talented creators, we get it (we think). Think about this. There have been some amazing Batman stories told over many, many decades by legends in the industry. Amazing runs of their own. Some of their books couldn’t even touch the Synder/Capullo Batman books as far as aftermarket pricing goes. Is that Batman #1 (Synder/Capullo) graded 9.8, which just sold for $300 a few days ago REALLY worth $300?? That’s $300, essential for a…..”Batman story”. Before you fanboys start whining and crying, we’re fans of Synder and Capullo, so stop getting your panties in a bunch. You’re going to learn here, don’t worry about when the next Scooby Doo/Harley Quinn team-up will happen. There are plenty of story driven comics throughout history that command some aftermarket monies. Miller’s Dark Knight and Gaiman’s Sandman, come to mind right away, but those stories were industry changing stories. We’re not saying Scott and Greg didn’t bring their Batman run to another level, but did they really change things in the long term? We’ll actually have to wait and see about this. Five years does not qualify a $300 book (in OUR opinion. Fanboys please sit down. Adults, please speak if you want). Neal Adams, Frank Miller, Alan Moore and a few others have literally changed the Batman landscape that still reverberates in today’s modern era. This market is modern top heavy, been that way for quite some time now. Be weary of what you are putting in to get out. Many have put too much into these modern books and are getting torched with red numbers. The Batman #1 book (and some others) have paid off, but more often than not, that “big/obvious” book winds up not meeting expectations for speculators. Wytches (Snyder + Jock = WOW) comes to mind rather quickly. So many more though.
Which brings us back to All-Star Batman #1 this Wednesday. The creative firepower is there and the amazing variants are there. The big questions; will the story be interesting enough to compel demand? Will interest wane after the first read? The second issue? Will this be all hype and no punch? Will delays in release happen? Will there be a large print run? How many times have we seen an all-star creative team assembled and it turns out to be just “okay” or “good” or even a flop. It’s when collectors aren’t counting on it, case in point Batman #1 (Synder/Capullo) that it becomes a huge hit. Yes we know, we know, sit down fanboys, they were fabulous creators when they were announced for that Batman book, but no one would have predicted a 9.8 for $300 in late July 2016. No one.
So going full circle here and back to the beginning, we are definitely without a doubt looking forward to the new All-Star Batman comic. More so as a comic book fan and not as a speculator. We could be completely wrong on this, we’ve been wrong before, we accept that. But we think this may be one of those creative all-star teams with a good story to tell and that’s it. Which, at the end of the day is the goal anyway. As for the REAL speculative side regarding All-Star Batman #1 this Wednesday, one word…….Jock.

With the influx of female comic characters dominating the industry these days, DC will go back to the well this week. Superwoman #1 will be written and drawn by the great Phil Jimenez. We’re so on board here. We expect the new series to do well and we urge collectors to check it out. Because we really like the potential of the new Superwoman book, you may want to click on the following comic to see what is available; DC Comics Presents Annual #2 (1983). This is the first appearance of Superwoman. Cover from legend Gil Kane and pencils by Keith Pollard.

The New Super-Man #1 fared well and now the follow up; New Super-Man #2. Be sure to check out the constant introduction of new characters during this series.
InvestComics had Deathstroke’s first appearance in the very first issue of the InvestComics magazine more than 11 years ago. Back when it was more obtainable. A 9.8 first appearance sold for a mere $550 a couple of weeks ago. Now this Wednesday, Deathstroke Rebirth #1 hits and we’re stoked. It won’t be a $550 book, probably ever, but the story will kick all kinds of as*. Writer Christopher Priest will deliver, get this on your pull list. The Stephen Platt variant cover is fantastic and it makes us reflect back to the early nineties when Stephen first tackled his first Marvel book; Moon Knight #55 (1993). That was a huge hot book back then. A 9.8 Moon Knight #55 just sold for $189 in early July. Definitely worth mentioning here too, the regular Aco Deathstroke Rebirth #1 cover is phenomenal as well, but InvestComics has always spoken about Stephen Platt thru-out the years. We’re huge fans.
Speaking of covers, a tremendous Rafael Albuquerque variant cover; Detective Comics #938. Rafael is making a habit of cutting right into the InvestComics Hot Picks almost every week with an amazing variant cover. Keep that up sir, we certainly do not mind.

A bevy of creators will have a hand in All New All Different Avengers Annual #1. See if your favorite creator(s) are in there. Nice Alex Ross linking covers too.
Accused #1 will feature a Daredevil Fiona Staples variant cover.
When InvestComics informed readers that the Spider-Man Deadpool #1 comic and series was going to be one to get and follow, we were kinda right. Well not kinda, we were. Spider-Man Deadpool #8 comes out with Marvel touting the same thing we have been saying, that every issue sells out and you need to be on top of this series. Spider-Man Deadpool #1 is headed to its seventh printing. The two biggest characters within Disney’s arsenal each month in their own team-up book, it’s a no-brainer here.

Here are some Indie comics and number one issues to definitely check out on Wednesday.
A new book from writer Jonathan Hicks (East of West) will be on the shelf. Check out Black Monday Murders #1 from Image Comics.
Want a dark and twisted retelling of the Peter Pan story? Sure you do! Check out 451 Media Group’s Nvrlnd #1.

We gave our readers an alert on Henchgirl (Scout Comics), which turned out to be a very nice aftermarket series. Now we have been telling readers about the Norman title from Titan Comics every month. Each of the previous two issues have sold out and Norman #3 has sold out before Wednesday’s new comic book day. The series has proven to be an interest to fans and you best be on it.
Sons Of Anarchy Redwood Original #1 (Boom Studios) has show creator Kurt Sutter on board to supervise the making of this comic series. He wants to protect his property and provide the best SOA book for his fans. We get it and that’s awesome.
Starring Sonya Devereaux #1 (American Mythology) features a Walking Dead #1 variant cover.
Blue Hour #1 (Action Lab Entertainment). Suicide Squad Most Wanted El Diablo & Boomerang #1 (DC Comics).

An all new featured article on InvestComics…..

Throughout the years InvestComics has explained that there is something within the speculative/collectors market that is just as important as the first appearance of a character. Sometimes an overlooked nugget, but most are privy to it. A characters second appearance is not only a fun get, but sometimes very affordable. Sometimes not, therein is the chance to make your decision as an investor to jump in or not. We cannot make that decision for you, nor would we. We will simply guide you and the rest is up to you.

We are proud to present a new regular feature on InvestComics called Second Appearances. Here you will see a list of comics featuring some A list characters and not so A list characters. Either way, the speculator will have an inside track on a characters second appearance. What if a character blows up and the first appearance is out of reach financially? Very simple actually, buy the second appearance. Some of the naysayers may say, what and why the second appearance? Well, the fact that two of the premiere grading companies (CBCS and CGC) recognize and highlight second appearances is clue enough. It’s a factor within the hobby. It is important, so why not go with the flow and start getting some of those second appearances? As said earlier, some of them are surprisingly affordable too.

The Amazing Spider-Man #195 (1979) Second Black Cat appearance. Marv Wolman writes, art by Keith Pollard.

Fantastic Four #53 (1966) The second Black Panther. Stan Lee writes, Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott art. First appearance of Klaw. Origin of both Black Panther and Klaw. A very nice buy right now.

Incredible Hulk Annual #5 (1976) The true second appearance of Groot. Appearing in a reprint issue after his first appearance, this comic is a NEW Groot story, thus making it more of a second appearance than the Where Monsters Dwell #6 (1970) comic. Written by Chris Claremont/Len Wein, art by Sal Buscema and cover by Jack Kirby.

Each week InvestComics will bring readers a few comics that have been long since forgotten. There is no redeeming value what so ever, but great reading value here. And that in itself is the best value any collector could get out of comics. So take a read about some of these once hot books and not so hot books back in the day. Happy hunting!

Zot #1 (1984) – This series was a popular one back in the 80’s. It’s a Scott McCloud creation. It was from Eclipse Comics, which put out some great comics. Zot lasted about 40 issues or so. The first issue is a scarce get.

Jack of Hearts #1 (1984) – One of the best D level Marvel characters ever. Back in 1984, this limited series hit with little fanfare, but was still a great read. Writer Bill Mantlo brought Jack of Hearts to a new level here. So much so (insert sarcasm here) that Jack of Hearts went on to appear about 10 more times in various comics in the next 7 years. Jack first appeared in The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #22 (Cameo). His first full appearance is in the next issue; The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu #23. Here’s a cool thing here. The creator of Jack of Hearts (Bill Mantlo) teamed with the great Keith Giffen on the cameo issue, then teamed with Legend Gil Kane for the first full appearance. That’s an impressive cameo and first right? Oh Jack of Hearts where art thou?

Six From Sirius #1 (1984) – An amazingly fun four part space epic from Marvel’s imprint Epic Comics. Writen by Doug Moench and pencils by Paul Gulacy. The series did well and spawned another limited series a year later. Rumors had this coming to the big screen a few times, but who knows if that will ever happen. A great story here nonetheless.

Vigilante #1 (1983) – Boy was this a great comic back in the 80’s. With Marvel’s Punisher character gaining more popularity, DC gave fans Vigilante and it was spectacularly fun. Brought to you by the always reliable great storyteller Marv Wolman and art by Keith Pollard. Vigilante’s first appearance was in New Teen Titans Annual #2 (Adrian Chase). The series went on to last only 50 issues, but what a fantastic action packed comic book run it was. Alan Moore and Gil Kane were part of this great series. Vigilante #50 was a controversial issue because Vigilante took his own life, thus ending the series of course. A scarce series ending issue. Low print run.

The Badger #1 (1983) – Speaking of fun action packed comics, The Badger was just that. Capital Comics had a few comics that are worth looks, this was one of them. They went out of business and Badger moved on to First Comics as of issue #5. Writer Mike Baron at the helm here. A great independent title that lasted 70 issues.

Blue Devil #1 (1984) – Here is a DC rated D character that first appeared in The Fury of Firestorm #24. An engaging character that never really caught on with many, but did have a following. The series went on to last 31 issues, but Blue Devil has appeared throughout the DC Universe on a regular basis despite the non demand for him thereafter. He recently showed up in one of the InvestComics Hot Picks (#369) Justice League #40. And this book is semi-hot right not. Not because of Blue Devil.

Jemm Son of Saturn #1 (1984) – Here is the first appearance of this character in a 12 issue limited series. Jemm goes on to make brief appearances, but never takes on a leadership role. Another D level character here. An interesting limited series featuring Superman in issues 3-6. Gene Colon pencils. Jemm also appears in the recent Justice League #40.

Well if you’re a comic book enthusiast you know by now that Marvel has a book coming out this week that promises to meet expectations of a fantastic brawl. Avengers vs. X-Men #1, or better yet the way Marvel is billing it “A vs. X” will finally come out after a huge build up. The fight is said to reverberate throughout much of the Marvel Universe.  In the end, will this clash between these two colossal teams mean anything within the confines of the MU? Probably a resounding no as an answer here, but we do get to see a great scrap! Anything they may happen in this storyline anyway will probably be “Bobby-Ewing-ed” anyway. Who’s Bobby Ewing? What’s Bobby Ewing-ed? Dallas television show? Google it…..

As any comic collector would probably know, this is not the first time these teams have gotten into a lovers’ quarrel. But there was that 1987 limited series that was a lot of fun. X-men vs. The Avengers (X vs. A). Brought to you by writer’s Roger Stern and Tom Defalco, with Marc Silvestri and Keith Pollard on pencils. Those were the days when readers didn’t expect as much as they do these days. Yes it was the speculation days in comic collecting, but it was still fun to read the story where the hyperbole didn’t set the bar so high to be let down if a story wasn’t that good. In today’s market, with the savvier collector, we expect more from our writers and are quicker to criticize with so much availability as far as social media goes to get your voice heard. Well that’s today’s episode of the soapbox! All kidding aside, pick up the 4 issue limited series from 1987 and get some enjoyment out of reading it. Better yet, pick up the 4 issues, buy the new Avengers vs. X-Men #1 and do a side by side comparison of the 2 first issues! Look how far the industry has come. Or maybe not! If you do the comparison and want to write up a review for InvestComics, send it our way (contact@investcomics.com), we’ll post it! If you do the comparison and use it for your own purposes after stealing the idea from here, be sure to at least credit us. Thanks.

Hulk #50 is a milestone “Bonus” sized issue. Whatever happened to “Double sized” issues? Here we get 48 pages of Red Hulk goodness. So what is the mysterious dark figure following Hulk around? Will we find out in the Bonus sized issue? Probably not….maybe….does anyone care really? One thing to surely care about is the awesome Walt Simonson Variant cover. That guy rocks. Be sure to click on the cover image to enlarge it. (It’s also featured in the covers of the week below).

Avengers Academy #28 gives fans another go at the Runaways team. With all the hype over Brian K. Vaughn’s recent Saga #1, the Runaways #1 from 2003 was a very well received written book from BKV. That said it’s also their first appearance.

Marvel has a busy week on the Hot Picks this week, right? It doesn’t stop with the release of the much anticipated Secret Service #1 from superstar Mark Millar and legend status Dave Gibbons. These two creators better deliver the goods with this series. Very high expectations here…..remember the social media critic’s we spoke about earlier? Yes, apply that here.

Voltron Year One #1 from Dynamite Entertainment makes its way into your shop this week. Check out the very firstVoltron comic ever in Voltron #1 (1985) from Modern Comics. Ape Entertainment releases Ramiel Wrath of God #1 from writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach of the Lost television series.

That’s it for this week. Stan Lee interview still forthcoming, promise! News forthcoming about the InvestComics’ Comic Hot Picks Chicks as well!

Scroll through the covers of the week below.

See you next week. Invest wisely.
