This checklist is a random list of random comic characters and we will continue to release these list regarding the female comic character. Maybe your favorite will appear in the next edition! So remember, breathe……deep breath.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates in purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Logan’s Run #6 (1977) 9.0. If you’re a Thanos fan you’ll know exactly what this comic brings. A backup story appears in this comic and it happens to be the first ever Thanos solo story. A story from Scott Edelman and Michael Zeck. This nice grade will only cost you $66.99. If you’re a Thanos fan and a big Thanos speculator, this book is for you.

Mockingbird #1 will be an interesting book from different vantage points. First, the character itself. Although Marvel is literally screaming in the solicit that we “DEMANDED IT!” we’re quite sure in actuality, in real life, we probably were not demanding it, but hey Mockingbird is a character within the comic book realm rarely looked at as a major character, If ever really. Not taking away from the potential of bad as* she can probably deliver in her own series, it’s just all so…..new. And it would be nice to get a deeper scope of a character that is making her way on the television series right now. As for the creative team. Best selling author (that’s books with no pictures in them) Chelsea Cain will scribe her third comic book ever. The first was a Mockingbird story, naturally and her second was a Hellboy story. Very new blood here and that’s a great thing. Maybe add a different flavor to this particular series and character we haven’t read yet. Moving onto the artist; Kate Niemczyk. Kate is so new that she has no penciling credits we can find. Nothing in the data basis. So we’re looking at a possible first published work here. All and all, a new rookie creative team may bring a bolt of life into this character not seen before. Keep an ear to the ground on this series. If word gets out that this series is bringing it, Mockingbird #1 will be a keeper. One more thing. A semi-newcomer does a fantastic action variant cover; Afu Chan. Check it out.
Mockingbird first appeared in Marvel Team-Up #95 (1980) with a Frank Miller/Bob McLeod cover.
Mr. Cosmic Jim Starlin returns to Marvel with a new Cosmic story, Infinity Entity #1. The story centers around Adam Warlock. As any fan of InvestComics already knows, we have been a buyer for many years on anything Adam Warlock. Adam’s first appearance as “HIM” was in Fantastic Four #67 (1967). His first appearance as Warlock was in Marvel Premiere #1 (1972). Both of these comics and anything in-between are solid comics to own. This all said, having Jim back into the mix again is a good thing. He never disappoints and always delivers great storytelling. Alan Davis will provide the art and the Marco Rudy variant is sweet. Yes, all around a definite pick up this week.

Not only will Disney Kingdoms The Haunted Mansion #1 be a fantastic story, but Skottie Young is doing his thing with the variant cover. It’ll be sold out in no time.

InvestComics gave fans a heads up about Deadpool’s team Mercs For Money right HERE, HERE and HERE. Lots of first appearances in there! Now comes Spider-Man Deadpool #3. Guess who makes their first appearance in this series? Yep, Mercs For Money! New Suicide Squad #18 will come with a Tony Daniel Batman V Superman variant cover. It’s sold out.

DC’s Savage Dawn story line will be coming to a close very soon. The pre-finale Aaron Kuder Action Comics #50 cover is simply outstanding. And It looks like DC will be going with polybag Batman v Superman variant covers this week. We love the ‘ripped’ out eyes with the title of the comic. Detective Comics #50 will don the ripped eye cover as well. Great stuff here.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

Mark Millar will introduce a new villain in Jupiter’s Circle #4 (Image Comics).
Writers John Ulloa and Al Bondiga, along with artist Juan Navarro bring us a story about a sadistic killer rabbit that only a 7 year old knows about. Sounds like fun! Get Tommy #1 from Creature Entertainment. One of the variants is sold out. If the Elasticator #1 (Scout Comics) cover is any indication on what is going on inside the comic, we are all in. Mikey from Brooklyn on that cover. Yes, more please. Scout Comics also delivers another sold out Henchgirl comic; Henchgirl #5. Action Lab Entertainment follows up their sold out Voracious comic with Voracious #2.

The very first episode of Sal’s Minute Of Mediocrity has arrived! The best one minute (or so) comic book review show on the planet. As each episode is released, Sal will lasso you in like Wonder Woman and make you tell the truth! What does that have to do with the video you ask? Absolutely nothing, but he will rope you in to watch because he’s awesome and it’s only a minute (or so) of your time! Check out the first episode below!

Click the RED links or comic covers to purchase the comic on Ebay.

….With all of the female lead characters coming from Marvel (and many other publishers too) these days, they are going with a third rate character this time in Mockingbird S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary #1. Mockingbird is not a new character by any stretch, her first appearance was 35 years ago and up until a week ago that first appearance lay in some one dollar long box. So with the recent announcement of Mockingbird getting her own spin-off television series, it will only peak the interest of her first appearance in Marvel Team-Up #95 (1980). Steven Grant writes and a Bob McLeod/Frank Miller cover help to make this a nice collectors item even when it was in the one dollar long box. Incidentally, InvestComics did mention to take a peak at Marvel Team-Up #95 back in 2009.

A sure to be sold out comic hits Wednesday; Deadpool vs. Thanos #1. There are some very funny variant covers accompanying this release. Marvel’s Figment series fared very well last time out, so Marvel will go back to the well with Figment 2 #1. A new character debuts in Dark Tower Drawing Of The Three Lady Of Shadows #1. And with the new Dark Tower movie(?) announced, this could be something to keep an eye out on.

Our friends at Cosmic Times have turned up a hot comic release this coming Wednesday. Must check out Void Of Heroes #1. Creator Spotlight – Frank Miller

daredevil-184-miller

New to InvestComics? Please read the Disclaimer here before proceeding…

One of the most prolific comic creators of our time is Frank Miller. He single-handedly made two comic characters into iconic status. Several of his creator owned projects have either seen film/television time or will in the future. Frank Miller’s art is extremely distinctive as well. Everything from the overbearing board shoulders of Batman to the loneliness feel of Daredevil’s pain, to the violence of 300. His writing replicates his artistry. Usually very bold and forthcoming. A distinctive comic creator in every facet. A true legend and Icon in the industry.

Here are just a few of his key books in his vast career. It took a very long time to compile this list and we hope you enjoy every bit of it as we did putting it together.

Click on the RED links or comic covers to Buy/Bid. A new window will open, you will not lose your place.

Twilight Zone #84 (1978) The first professional work from Frank Miller.

Weird War Tales #64 (1978) First DC Comics work.

John Carter Warlord of Mars #18 (1978) First Marvel Comics work with writer Chris Claremont. John Byrne cover.

Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man #27 (1979) First Daredevil pencils. Miller will go on to basically own the Daredevil character. Most of anything you will ever see on film or on television on Daredevil is based from Miller’s interpretation of the character.

Daredevil #158 (1979) Miller’s first time on the Daredevil title will prove to be a major turning point in this characters life. The character is forever marked with the Miller touch. As said before, everything you see on paper or on a screen is a direct result of Miller. That is all. This comic is also the first professional cover he does in collaboration with Joe Rubinstein.

Marvel Premiere #49 (1979) Miller/Janson cover. Falcon graces the cover and this is also Falcon’s first solo comic ever.

Rom #1 (1979) One of the many reasons to own this comic; a collaborative cover with Joe Rubinstein. He goes on to do other Rom covers.

Marvel Team-Up Annual #4 (1981) Miller writes a story that includes Moon Knight. He also does the cover art with Rubinstein that includes Moon Knight.

Daredevil #181 (1982) The death of Elektra. Also the first Punisher appearance in the series. Miller creates another adversary for the ages here for the Daredevil character, but it’s a vigilante (hero) this time. As with the Power Man/Iron Fist team up, will Netflix heat things up here with the Punisher coming on board? Again maybe, but be forewarned, this comic is way over-printed and very easy to find.

Daredevil #182 (1982) A classic cover.

Green Lantern/Superman Legend of the Green Flame #1 (2000) An incredible Miller/Hollingsworth cover.

Dark Knight Strikes Again (2001) This followup three-part story did not fair all that well.

All Star Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder (2005) This series was without its controversy. Issue number ten caused a stir (recalled) and Miller’s writing for this series was very edgy to say the least. Jim Lee art, Scott Williams inks, and Miller script. Series went up to ten issues. Miller also did a variant cover for most of the series.

Mighty Avengers #16 (2008) Daredevil/Elektra Secret Invasion Miller cover.
