Happy New Year everyone. We hope you all had a fantastic holiday season. We also wish you all a prosperous 2017.
InvestComics took its first ever holiday break in 13 years. A much needed and deserved break. We’re so happy to get back into the flow of things. Our batteries are recharged and we’re ready to go another 13 years without a holiday break. Well, maybe not that long, but we’re recharged and ready to go.
We’re first going to touch on a few comics from last week, then we’re going to give you the Hot Picks from this week. We actually had this Hot Picks semi-put together, but did not hit the publish button, vacation was calling, so we’re going to give you exactly what we wrote about last week before new comic book day…….and vacation.
A very short list ahead for last week and this week, but we’re quite sure it’ll get moving as the weeks progress. No guarantee of course, but we always want to provide the best comics recommendations for our fans.

supergirl-being-super-1

Buy/Bid Now – Supergirl #1

A new Supergirl book from writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Joelle Jones; Supergirl Being Super #1. Looks like it’ll be sort of a Supergirl Year One book.
The last time Harley Quinn appeared in a Scooby-Doo comic book, the collectors market turned on their proverbial head as other sites made the comic out to be the rarest comic on mother earth. As those sites marveled over a Harley Quinn appearance in a cartoon dog comic, some of the aftermarket sellers made a killing on the book. We feel bad for all of those buyers being completely mislead. We wouldn’t hype a book just because it has the 2,328th appearance (exaggerating of course) of Harley Quinn in a cartoon dog comic that will be found in some dollar bin some day. So what it’s a short print run. Seriously, any real speculator would recognize it was and still is a huge waste of time. You made money on it, good for you, but a warning to collectors that may not know better, don’t succumb to the hype ridiculousness of an appearance in a book that is completely meaningless and pay top dollar for it. We all love the Harley character, but lets all keep ourselves in check with her appearance this week in Scooby-Doo Team-Up #21.

Jennifer Walters tries once again to carry her own series. This time however it’s a bit different. No more will the word ‘SHE’ be used in a She-Hulk series. No more will there be the word ‘Savage’. All of that will be bye-bye. The new Jennifer Walters comic title is Hulk. Hulk #1 debuts with writer Mariko Tamaki and artist Nico Leon at the helm, with a bazillion variant covers to choose from.
Marvel brings the character Chthon back to the forefront in Carnage #15. Chthon has appeared sporadically in his long history. Marvel going into their horror comics archives and pulling out a character from 1975, it’s a safe bet we’ll see more of this down the pike. Chthon first appeared in Marvel Chillers #1 (1975).
Fans love Rocket Raccoon and the Guardians of The Galaxy movie he appeared in. After the rodent appeared in the movie, Marvel inundated comic fans with Rocket Raccoon appearances everywhere. Very annoying after a while, but now Marvel is finally giving Rocket his own book. Rocket Raccoon #1 will be written by Matthew Rosenberg and art from Jorge Coelho. The Rafael Albuquerque homage cover to Bill Sienkiewicz’s Elektra Assassin #1 (1986) cover is our fave.
Looks like Marvel is trying to get readers right in the ‘feels’ with the latest Spider-Man #11 comic. Learn about the untold story of Miles Morales’ father.

Dark Horse gives AvP fans a new series to read. Check out Aliens vs Predator Life and Death #1.

If you’re a fan of the sometimes confusing DC Multiplicity universe, then there is a book for you this week. Superman #14 begins a new story dealing with all of the Supermen within the multi-earth universe. It’s like a who’s who of the Superman universe, but not.
A new Harley storyline begins in Harley Quinn #11, ‘Joker Loves Harley’.
And speaking of Harley, she graces most of the covers from this week’s Justice League vs Suicide Squad #3 issue. A good hearty comic book read and great covers to boot.

Marvel’s premise of mashing Deadpool with Howard the Duck sounds so out there and outrageous that it’ll probably catch on and become a mega hit. Deadpool The Duck #1 hit this Wednesday with plenty of variants for the fans to choose from. We’re fans of the Ron Lim variant. As a reminder here, if you’re not already in the know, Deadpool the Duck first appeared in Deadpool Kills Deadpool #3 (2013).
Moon Knight #10 promises to change things as far as the character is concerned. And that Whilce Portacio variant cover….wow.
Slapstick is back with Slapstick #2. This issue will focus a bit on the Bro-Man. He first appeared in the inaugural issue. We like Slapstick and so should you.
Marvel has officially entered the ridiculousness zone (again) with their U.S. Avengers #1 50 state variant covers gimmick. Psst Marvel…..psst…..no one cares about this, stop it. Fans are looking for a few variants and a good story, stop it.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Secret Wars #1 9.8 (2015). Here is a neat modern graded under a hundred bucks. This high grade modern has three signatures on it, two of which are creators of Deadpool. The sigs; Rob Liefeld, Fabian Nicieza and Johnathan Hickman. All that for $99? Not too shabby.

Regular readers of the weekly InvestComics Hot Picks know how we pinned the title Deadpool And The Mercs For Money down and predicted the outcome of all the players in the previous series getting their own solo comics. Well, not only is Now Foolkiller #1 coming out this week, but Deadpool And The Mercs For Money #5 features the newest team, lead by Domino, getting their act together from the previous issue. We discussed some of the first appearances of Domino’s new team HERE. The old team’s first appearance’s were discussed HERE.
Foolkiller; Greg Salinger, first appeared in Omega The Unknown #8 (1977). Cover by legend Gil Kane. The Now Foolkiller #1 will be accompanied by many variants. The Rob Liefeld B&W Deadpool variant will garner much attention in the aftermarket.

Marvel begins their newest Avengers title(s) this week; Now Avengers #1 (written by Mark Waid) and Now Occupy Avengers #1. Not crazy about the ‘Now’ in the title in front of the Avengers, but it’s still better than a ‘Totally Awesome Hulk’ title. So many variants to choose from, but it’s the inside of the Now Avengers #1 comic you may want to check out too. Someone dies and you have a chance to find out who first……by getting to your comic shop earlier than everyone else. The Alex Ross Now Avengers #1 variant is a beauty.

If you think Marvel will keep away Wolverine or Thor or countless other original characters away from the fray, you’d be sadly mistaken. Now Unworthy Thor #1 begins the comeback(s) of Marvel’s original elite. Writer Jason Aaron and artist Oliver Coipel on Thor’s (possible) return.

On the topic of covers, Michael Choi Champions #2 white cover is an eye catcher. Death of X #3 cover from Aaron Kuder is amazing. Elektra on the cover of Spider-Man 2099 #17; by Francesco Mattina.

InvestComics has been saying it for years, even before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. A Moon Knight movie! Right?? It’s right there on the cover of Moon Knight #8. No? Okay, we’re reaching, but maybe Marvel planted a seed here for the fans? Wishful thinking, but in the mean time, stock up from our Moon Knight checklist.

Superman #10 will be the comic everyone is talking about this week. The kids of Supes and Bats meet up for the first time. Boy of Steel and Boy Wonder, along with their daddy’s will make for an interesting read. The regular Patrick Gleason & Mick Gray cover is not only fantastic, but it tells the readers what we may be in for. The variant Andrew Robinson cover is very reminiscent of a now iconic Jim Lee Batman cover back in 2003; Batman #612. Looks as though Andrew gives us another angle of the choke hold. We love this cover.

DC Comics Bombshells #19 marks the return of the Batgirls. This team first appeared together in DC Comics Bombshells #7.
Batman #10 continues the ‘I am suicide’ story line. The story that has Batman putting together his own Suicide Squad team. Part two here.

Fantastic Four #254 (1983) – As with most comic book characters, there is always one creator that defines the character to the point that the majority of collectors will associate that particular character with “them”. Batman/Miller, Spider-Man/McFarlane, Green Lantern/Adams, Nick Fury/Steranko…..you get the idea. We’re not putting She-Hulk on the scale of those characters, but the creator is the one we’re talking about here. This comic is the first time John Byrne writes and draws She-Hulk in a comic book. Byrne/She-Hulk.

Avengers #233 (1983) – John Byrne fill in issue. It also happens to be part of his Fantastic Four #254 story. John writes and John draws. He doesn’t do the next issue and he didn’t do the previous issue. What John wants, John gets.

Thor #334 (1983) – Jennifer first appears in a Thor comic, with her Avengers team of course. Three issues later though, The Thor character will never be the same. Going from a B-lister to an A-lister, but that’s another story for another day.

The Thing #5 (1983) – John Byrne writes. She-Hulk appears in several issues of the Thing, starting here. Appearing in a solo role.

Fantastic Four #293 (1986) – Jerry Ordway provides this great cover of the She-Hulk.

Thing #36 (1986) – She-Hulk vs Ms. Marvel. No not THAT Ms. Marvel, the “new” Ms. Marvel (Sharon Ventura) that appeared a few issues prior in Thing #27. Sharon last appeared in a comic book in 2007, but this checklist isn’t about Sharon.

Marvel Comics Presents #18 (1989) – She-Hulk story written and drawn by John Byrne.

Sensational She-Hulk #1 (1989) – Origin retold. John Byrne start the second series. Writer/artist here. Awesome Byrne cover here as well. Actually, from here on out every single John Byrne She-Hulk cover in this series is stellar. The number one cover here still remains as one of the most iconic She-Hulk covers of all time. This series acted as the modern day Deadpool series does today. Breaking the fourth wall and complete zany-ness. John Byrne’s run here was simply a work of art in every sense of the word. If a television show ever hits, this comic (series) might be the place to go as far as speculation is concerned. We feel that the TV series (total speculation here) would be based more from here and not the first series. Again, we’re speculating and could be completely incorrect. No one knows. Invest wisely!

Sensational She-Hulk #2 (1989) – First appearance of Weezi Mason.

Marvel Age #76 (1989) – As a growing trend for quite a while, Marvel or John Byrne loved putting Jennifer in a bathing suit on his covers.

Sensational She-Hulk #39 (1992) – And another awesome cover from Byrne.

Sensational She-Hulk #40 (1992) – The first appearance of Marvel Editor at the time Renee Witterstaetter as herself. Renee has done a ton of writing and coloring on top of her editorial work. She’s often seen at Michael Golden’s booth at your local convention. The cover here….wow. Why was John Byrne so into sexually exploiting the She-Hulk on so many covers?? They must have sold well to the fanboys. This issue is the most expensive aftermarket comic in the entire Sensational She-Hulk. More than the corrective color issue a few issues back.  A scarce book here drives up the price and one of the last sexual innuendo covers in this run. John Byrne officially runs into the “political correctness police”. Pushed the envelope too far according to Marvel standards we guess.

Sensational She-Hulk #41 (1992) – The first time creator John Byrne appears (as himself) in the She-Hulk series.

Marc Spector: Moon Knight #41 (1992) – The first time Jennifer appears in a Moon Knight comic.

Sensational She-Hulk #50 (1993) – The 50th anniversary issue. 48 pager. John Byrne loads the book up with guest appearances from a number of Marvel characters. This issue would be the last Byrne issue as Jennifer looks for a new creative team to take over her comic series. John Byrne appears in this issue and says that this comic should die (be canceled) due to the fact he’s not on it anymore.

Sensational She-Hulk #52 (1993) – This issue features an Adam Hughes cover!

Sensational She-Hulk #54 (1993) – The first official appearance of Jennifer’s momma into the Marvel universe; Elaine Ann Banner Walters.

Sensational She-Hulk #60 (1994) – The series ends here. It was a good ride. 60 issues. 14 years later. Penciler and Cover artist Pat Olliffe pays homage to John Byrne’s number one issue cover. Fantastic job here from Pat. Sorry to see you go Jennifer!

There is a very big hyper-machine running behind a new character getting their own book in a few months. His name is Mosaic. Mosaic #1 is being pushed by Marvel as the next big thing (character) since sliced bread, but InvestComics is not going to give into the hype….just yet. A comic coming this week will be the first appearance of that “hot” Marvel character Mosaic. We are 99.999999% sure that other speculation sites and wannabe speculators will tell you to buy this comic it’s going to be so HOT! Maybe it will be, right out of the gate, but there are so many mitigating factors going into this week’s Uncanny Inhumans #11. Will Mosaic play a key role in the Marvel Universe for years to come? Anyone remember Sentry? Will Mosaic play a key role in another characters life? A brother, a son, a reincarnation? Will Mosaic ‘click’ with the fans long term? See Spider-Gwen or Gwenpool, but not Silk as much. Will the character actually have substance to make him interesting enough for fans to come back and or demand to see him more within the Marvel U? It has taken literally decades for Werewolf By Night #32 (Moon Knight) to earn some respect. Partial thanks to InvestComics for pushing that particular book for the last 12 years. The basic point here is not to go all in by paying premium prices for a first appearance of Mosaic if you have no idea where this characters’ future lies within the Marvel U. The easiest call to make these days is the new female characters Marvel introduces. They seem to jump out and kick major as* in the aftermarket quick. The female counter parts however are a bit more touch and go sometimes. Mosaic is the next Marvel character to be pushed in an aggressive way, to which does not always equate to speculator gold. Sometimes it equates to a huge bust. We’ll have to do a wait and see here for a bit, but for now, Uncanny Inhumans #11 has all eyes on it this week. Buy a copy and make your own judgment as to whether or not YOU want to dig in with Mosaic. Don’t think too long though or you’ll have to wait for a second print, thus missing that possible easy flip. This comic will be completely sold out before new comic book day Wednesday.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from ALL available sellers on Ebay.

Fans of Spider-Gwen may want to keep an eye out on the Spider-Gwen Annual #1 comic this week. Marvel is setting up Spider-Gwen’s near future right here.
We hate to say we told you so, but we told you so. We informed readers that the Spider-Man Deadpool series was going to be huge. We told readers to pick up that Spider-Man Deadpool #1 issue, it’s now headed to it’s sixth printing. Check out the all-star issue this week; Spider-Man Deadpool #6.
Last month fanboys got their panties in a bunch because Steve Rogers uttered two very bad words at the end of his debut issue. Lets see if Captain America Steve Rogers #2 brings some clarity or sends the fanboys into more of a tizzy. Maybe Marvel will add fuel to the fire and have the fanboys daring to stop buying Marvel comic books! Been there, done that. Deep breath dudes, breathe.

The Amazing Spider-Man And Silk Spider(Fly) Effect #4 story will have both Spidey and Silk reminiscing about that fateful day in the science fair where they were both bit by the same spider. Ah, good ol’ times! And that Ryan Stegman cover is killer.
It looks as though Marvel is trying to put Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) front and center in their universe. Good deal, we dig it. Captain Marvel #6 will feature Carol in a defining type moment in her hero career. Be there to witness it.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from ALL available sellers on Ebay.

Harley Quinn appearance alert! Harley will make an appearance in Grayson Annual #3.
Deathstroke Annual #2 will introduce a villain named Balkan.
Disclaimer; we’re not crapping on this series, but just stating facts via the social media non-presence and the overall quietness of fans. We warned speculators from the outset. Do not get too vested in the third installment. The colossal failure/delayed Dark Knight III hits its fifth issue (Dark Knight III The Master Race #5). Maybe sales are good for DC with this series, but fans are NOT really talking about the third go-around here. Delays have killed any momentum the series may have had. All that said, a Midtown Comics Greg Capullo variant looks snazzy! And of course you have the Jim Lee variant coming in at $550. Unbelievable to us how JUST a cover, a NEW comic, with the SAME insides/story as ANY of the other 10 variants commands $550. **The fanboy screams** “but it’s a 1 in 300” (or whatever the ratio is), we don’t care. A lot to choose from regarding the indie market this week. So many, but here are a few to definitely check out!

Rom #61 (1984) – Steve Ditko art. Here’s a fun book to hunt down for only one reason. That black cover. See if you can score a 9.8 grade or higher. Might be challenging for a 32 year old comic. And besides, look at the creator names on this book anyway, Mantlo. Guice, Austin, Mazzucchelli, and Ditko. Not just any book to get graded.
Rom #62 (1985) – Steve Ditko art. Michael Zeck cover.
Rom #65 (1985) – Steve Ditko pencils ALL of these characters; Avengers, X-Men, West Coast Avengers, Soviet Super Soldiers, Dynamic Defenders (which includes Valkyrie, Beast, Iceman, Gargoyle, Angel, and Moondragon), Captain Britain, and many more.

IC 100 Club Pick: Strange Tales #151 8.5 (1966) – This amazing high graded comic is only $85 with FREE shipping. Two legends provide the cover art here; Jack Kirby and Jim Steranko. This comic is Jim Steranko’s first Marvel art. A fantastic Silver Age comic for only $85 and free shipping.

This coming week in Batman Superman #31 we may have a peek at something either brewing or a first appearance. Buy each issue of this mini-crossover event happening in all of the Superman titles. You’ll be getting a fantastic story line and with possible first appearances popping up. Super League part 2 this Wednesday.

Sticking with the “we mentioned this” dialog, back in March of 2015 (ICHP #365) InvestComics gave readers a heads up on the Harley Quinn #16 (2015) comic. That comic features the first appearance of the Gang of Harley’s. Here is a copy and paste dialog from that article back in March of 2015,Harley Quinn #16 will feature the debut of the Gang of Harley’s. What more do you need here really? A Harley comic with an introduction? Yes, massive potential here. Two $15 variants are sold out. The Left hand variant and the right hand variant. No really, those are the variants. Be sure to click the red link to buy/bid on Ebay right now if you want this one. There is also a very cool WonderCon variant as well. Not only is this a cool comic to own, but debuting this week; Harley Quinn And Her Gang Of Harley’s #1. Yes it’s a mini-series, but how long before we get a regular ongoing here? Writers Frank Tieri and Jimmy Palmiotti will get this series going. Grab that Harley Quinn #16 now before the other websites make this their own pick, thus causing the fanboys to dry everything up. One more thing about the new Harley book. Jimmy Palmiotti announced on his Facebook page that if you buy the cover with the blank spot on it (pictured in this article), you can draw on it and Jimmy will post it on his page. Buy it, get cracking!
…..Also, don’t forget that InvestComics has the ultimate Harley Quinn checklist that includes the first appearance of Gang of Harley’s and MANY other cool first appearances as well. Go there now, click HERE.

A possible intro of a new villain in Black Canary #10. Check it out.

We’re going to reminisce once again. Back in June of 2015 (ICHP #376), we said this;
Marvel’s Deadpool Secret Secret Wars #2 will be part of the Spider-Gwen craze. How about Gwenpool? Spider-Gwen as Deadpool sounds like a match made in aftermarket heaven doesn’t it? Let’s see if Gwenpool ever gains traction, if she does, she first appears right on the cover as part of the Gwen cover variants all over Marvel’s books right now. Only one of these available on Ebay right now”. Well there you have that. We received quite a few thank you emails and messages regarding that pick for our fans. Although some speculators will say this is not Gwenpool’s first appearance, it kind of is. One of the grading companies actually has the information on their slab that says “Gwenpool on cover. Predates Howard The Duck #1.” Not only does it predate the supposed “official first appearance”, but it predates Howard #1 by 5 months. We have always felt that Deadpool Secret Secret Wars #2 is in fact the first appearance, not the comic from 5 months later.
Rant time…..There are so many comic book issues that deserve better cataloging than the grading companies give them. It’s a bit absurd the way they control the market in that way. If Wolverine SAYS his name and you SEE him, in his entirety, the absolute FIRST time anyone has ever seen Wolverine, THIS is his first appearance, not the following issue. It’s absurd to throw the word “cameo” into the mix in these books. The same works with the Gwenpool character. The first time fans ever see Gwenpool is on the COVER of Deadpool Secret Secret Wars #2, with her NAME on top of the book! The grading companies say otherwise and the comic book aftermarket has to follow suite. Too much power there and if the eyes actually SEE a character in full gear and a name is said, not a shadow or a hand or a leg or a mention, then it should be their first appearance, end of story.
With all of that out of the way, we gave our fans a heads up back in mid 2015 and the Deadpool Secret Secret Wars #2 book is still a key comic in the modern collectors market. We had a feeling that Gwenpool was going to be a big deal someday. She did become a big deal. Now this Wednesday Gwenpool stars in her very own ongoing series; Gwenpool #1. A whole bunch of variants will accompany the release and sellouts will occur. The Stacey Lee Incentive cover is sold out. The J Scott Campbell Paris Expo variant will be a hot ticket. Look for Gwenpool to continue her rise to the top.

If you have followed InvestComics for the better part of our 11 year existence, you will know how much we love the Moon Knight character. We have spoken about Moon Knight so much on this site, but with the constant urgency to buy low during a lull in the market for him. We’ve reminded fans of Werewolf By Night #32 (1975), Marvel Spotlight #28 (1976) and Moon Knight #1 (1980) on numerous occasion. We said to purchase them when they were hundreds of dollars less than they are now. Crazy thing is, there still may be more upside room for these comics. We have a complete Moon Knight checklist right HERE if you are in search for some key issues.
There are so many rumors about Moon Knight these days. So many times fans think maybe this rumor will come to fruition and it never materializes. It will happen eventually. Marvel (Disney) wants to have an answer to DC’s Batman (Dark Knight) and Moon Knight (White Knight) is their answer. This week fans are introduced to an eighth volume of Moon Knight with the release of Moon Knight #1. The creative team consist of writer Jeff Lemire and amazing artist Greg Smallwood. Have you seen the pencils Greg is laying down? Wow. The Eric Powell incentive variant is sold out. Look for more sellouts as word gets out that this series is killing it.

A major turning point in Silver Surfer #3. We had a major turning point a few months ago at the finale of the previous series. So now we have another? Okay.
A new Star Wars one shot from Marvel comes out Wednesday; C3PO #1. It’s a one shot for a reason. Well a couple really. One, to gauge the interest and two, Marvel probably does not have enough confidence in a solo ongoing for C3PO right out of the gate. Hence the one shot. A ton of pointless variants for this issue are available. We hope a regular ongoing series never sees the light of day. Ask yourself this question, do you see yourself buying a monthly story about C3PO? We don’t. And please no fanboy emails or messages about our opinion. Please go elsewhere, you don’t belong here.

See they’ve been doing this for years! Frank Miller writes and pencils this alternate universe story. Oh and legend Steve Ditko pencils the first appearance of the Cat People in another story. No really, we’re not making that up.

Iron Fist Checklist

Marvel Premiere #15 (1974) The first appearance of Iron Fist. The holy grail of Iron Fist comics. Writer Roy Thomas, Pencils and cover Gil Kane, and inker Dick Giodano.

When Marvel/Netflix get it together, Iron Fist will be a household name. If for some reason it doesn’t work out with Netflix, look for Marvel to want to hit the big screen instead. The mere fact that the Iron Fist character is mentioned so much these days shows a tremendous amount of interest on Marvel’s (Disney’s) part. So with that, Marvel will start the Kung-Fu entertainment revolution once again either way. This comic also features the first appearances of Ferocia, Harold Meachum, Nuan, Wendell Rand, Heather Rand. Shu-Hu, and Yu-Ti.

The Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu #1 (1974) First appearance of Lin Sun, Robert Diamond, and Abraham Brown.

The Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu Special #1 (1974) The second appearance of Iron Fist. This is a magazine form comic.

Marvel Premiere #16 (1974) Iron Fist’s second comic book appearance. First appearances of Fu-Hsi. Scythe, Shou-Lao the Undying, and Thunderer. Origin continued.

Marvel Premiere #19 (1974) The first appearances of Colleen Wing and Professor Lee Wing. This comic also signifies the first appearance of Wolverine via an ad within the comic. It predates The Incredible Hulk #181. Cool stuff.

Here’s a speculation article that will run periodically regarding which comics we feel should be the next to hit the movies, television or become an animated show. Will any of these comics see the light of day? Possibly. Possibly not. InvestComics throughout its years (10 years, longest running speculative website on the internet and the number one speculative website) has called a MANY comics (and characters) to hit the screen WAY before they were ever announced to do so. Guardians of The Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Warlock, Dormammu, Kick Ass, Thanos, Nemesis, Crossbones, just to name a few that have come to light and or will be coming. We’re not saying that these comics in these articles are guarantees to ever come to fruition, but these are our choices we feel deserve some airplay….in some form. Even a video game too.

Please realize that all of this is a speculative look at the hobby. Maybe some of these will become reality, maybe most of these won’t, but understand that this is pure speculation. Read the disclaimer. Read the disclaimer. Oh and read the disclaimer and please have fun.

Rom (Movie/Toon/Game) – Marvel Comics made the Rom toy a cult favorite comic book. Now IDW will pick up the mantle and start an entirely new race and galaxy realm without any Dire Wraiths (Marvel owns that). Although a Rom based movie would seem a bit campy probably to make, we thought that of the Transformers idea too, but that worked. Maybe an animated show would fair better here.
*Rom #1 (1979) Writer Bill Mantlo and art by Sal Buscema. Cover art by Joe Rubinstein and Fran Miller. 75 issues. Rom’s first venture ever outside of his book cam in Power Man and Iron Fist #73 (1981). Cover by Frank Miller.

Power Pack (Movie/Game) – As InvestComics called this comic out back in 2010, who would have known Marvel Studios would report directly to Disney eventually? We did of course. Eventually Disney will take over complete creative control, so with that said we get Power Pack on this articles list. A made for movie comic book right in Disney’s wheelhouse. It’s probably a matter of WHEN this will get done, not a matter of IF.
*Power Pack #1 (1984) First appearance. Writer Louise Simonson and art by June Brigman. Cover art by June Brigman and Bob Wiacek. Lasted 62 issues.

Micronauts (Movie/Game) – This toy line went on to spawn a plethora of comic books from many different companies, but it’s Marvel Comics who got things started in 1979. A movie would seem a fantastic way to go here. Michael Bay?
*Micronauts #1; First appearance. Bill Mantlo writes, art work by Michael Golden. Cover by Dave Cockrum and Al Milgrom. Lasted 59 issues.

Moon Knight (Movie/TV/Game) – InvestComics has been on this character since the inception of the website 10 years ago. If there is one character we feel that will guarantee to breakout into its own movie or television series, this dude right here is it. (A rare thing to get any sort of guarantees here on InvestComics). Check out the ultimate Moon Knight checklist from InvestComics right HERE. You will not find a better list. We guarantee it.
*First appeared in Werewolf By Night #32 (1975). First solo comic; Marvel Spotlight #28 (1976).

Alpha Flight (Movie) – Canada’s bad as* team needs to get their due. An absolute breakout film if it would ever get done. This team is the real deal.
*First appearance was in Uncanny X-Men #120 (1979). Alpha Flight #1 (1983) was written by John Byrne, art by John Byrne and cover by Byrne and Terry Ausin. Lasted 130 issues. If Alpha Flight ever takes flight and makes it to the big screen, Alpha Flight #1 will be the equivalent of New Mutants #98 in the sense that although there is a major overprint run on the book, it’ll command big dollars in the aftermarket.

Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner (Movie) – No stranger to InvestComics readers here. We wrote up a few times over the years (BEFORE Disney became the official bosses recently) that Disney has conquered land and space on the big screen. Just a matter of time before they hit one of their favorite places; water. So many successful films for the Mouse company taking place in the depths of water. How about that first live action water superhero movie Disney? It starts right here with Prince Namor. It has to.
*First appearance Motion Picture Funnies Weekly Volume 1 #1 (1939). Fantastic Four #4; first Silver Age Namor. Stan Lee writes, art by Jack ‘King’ Kirby and cover by Jack ‘King’ Kirby and Sol Brodsky. Just like InvestComics informed buyers to buy the first Inhumans at ANY grade, buy this comic book at any grade, doesn’t matter. Buy it. The Sub Mariner #1 (1968) comic is definitely one to have in your collection once the movie finally comes to fruition. No doubt here (another guarantee). The series lasted 72 issues.

The Pro – (Movie/TV) Here is an awesome movie or HBO/AMC television show waiting to happen. A prostitute superhero tries to find her way within the grand scheme of things with a baby in tow. A cable comedy series that would kill. This comic story is not suitable for all readers. If you’re easily offended, this book is NOT for you. A movie here would be good, but leaving audiences wanting more probably, so a television series would be the better route here.

Aside from the obvious success of the Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman has amassed quite the career thus far. This Creator Spotlight will not focus on the Walking Dead comics Robert has done because InvestComics has already covered most of them throughout the years. We’re going to focus on his body of work besides TWD, which is quite impressive to say the least. A young career, but yet so vast.

Super Dinosaur #1 (2011) Yes this book really exist. It went to three printings too. The series lasted 23 issues.

Thief of Thieves #1 (2012) This series was a boiling book at one time. Never mind a hot one. It still commands some money in the aftermarket, but has since cooled down because of the lack of non-movement regarding a television show. Speculators however still anticipate something to happen.

Playboy Vol 59 #3 (2012) The Walking Dead; Michonne’s origin appeared in this magazine. And you Walking Dead fans thought you owned everything.

Outcast #1 (2014) This comic will be a soon to be television series. Get on this book now before it becomes too far out of possible reach. If the television series falls, no matter, still a great comic book.
