Batgirl #9 continues the Ethan Cobblepot story. Batgirl meets up with Ethan’s daddy; The Penguin. Writer Hope Larson, artist Christian Wildgoose.
Mitch Gerads’ Vigilante Southland #6 cover pays homage to Keith Pollard’s Vigilante #1 (1983).

Madame Hydra seems to be the one behind Steve Rogers becoming the ‘bad guy’. Find out in Captain America: Steve Rogers #14 what the Madam has been up to. Writer Nick Spencer and artist Javier Pina bring some(?) of the reasons as to why Steve Rogers is all about Hydra these days. Many fanboys had their panties all tied up too tight when Steve hailed Hydra a little while back and needed something to complain about instead of realizing that Marvel was telling a story. All will be well in given time, back to normal. It’s absurd how some fans were reacting. Getting back to Madam Hydra; her first appearance was in Captain America #110 (1969). Penciled by Jim Steranko and written by Stan Lee. Classic cover from Steranko.
A new Iron Fist #1 comic from writer Ed Brisson and artist Mike Perkins hits this Wednesday. We are quite sure this comic will get more respect than the new Netflix television show is getting. Lots of variant covers to choose from.

The Savage She-Hulk #18 (1981) – How about one more ridiculous first appearance of a fourth rate character? Grappler. Looks like he may have also appeared in five comics in 35 years.

Fantastic Four #254 (1983) – As with most comic book characters, there is always one creator that defines the character to the point that the majority of collectors will associate that particular character with “them”. Batman/Miller, Spider-Man/McFarlane, Green Lantern/Adams, Nick Fury/Steranko…..you get the idea. We’re not putting She-Hulk on the scale of those characters, but the creator is the one we’re talking about here. This comic is the first time John Byrne writes and draws She-Hulk in a comic book. Byrne/She-Hulk.

Avengers #233 (1983) – John Byrne fill in issue. It also happens to be part of his Fantastic Four #254 story. John writes and John draws. He doesn’t do the next issue and he didn’t do the previous issue. What John wants, John gets.

Thor #334 (1983) – Jennifer first appears in a Thor comic, with her Avengers team of course. Three issues later though, The Thor character will never be the same. Going from a B-lister to an A-lister, but that’s another story for another day.

The Thing #5 (1983) – John Byrne writes. She-Hulk appears in several issues of the Thing, starting here. Appearing in a solo role.

Marvel Graphic Novel #18 (1985) – John Byrne gets an entire book to draw and write on the She-Hulk. Not just any book, a Marvel graphic novel. That’s 72 oversized pages of awesome John Byrne She-Hulk.

Fantastic Four #291 (1986) – This cover pays homage to Action Comics #1. She-Hulk takes the place of Superman and holds the car above her head. This John Byrne cover is on point.

Fantastic Four #293 (1986) – Jerry Ordway provides this great cover of the She-Hulk.

Thing #36 (1986) – She-Hulk vs Ms. Marvel. No not THAT Ms. Marvel, the “new” Ms. Marvel (Sharon Ventura) that appeared a few issues prior in Thing #27. Sharon last appeared in a comic book in 2007, but this checklist isn’t about Sharon.

Marvel Comics Presents #18 (1989) – She-Hulk story written and drawn by John Byrne.

Sensational She-Hulk #1 (1989) – Origin retold. John Byrne start the second series. Writer/artist here. Awesome Byrne cover here as well. Actually, from here on out every single John Byrne She-Hulk cover in this series is stellar. The number one cover here still remains as one of the most iconic She-Hulk covers of all time. This series acted as the modern day Deadpool series does today. Breaking the fourth wall and complete zany-ness. John Byrne’s run here was simply a work of art in every sense of the word. If a television show ever hits, this comic (series) might be the place to go as far as speculation is concerned. We feel that the TV series (total speculation here) would be based more from here and not the first series. Again, we’re speculating and could be completely incorrect. No one knows. Invest wisely!

Sensational She-Hulk #2 (1989) – First appearance of Weezi Mason.

Marvel Age #76 (1989) – As a growing trend for quite a while, Marvel or John Byrne loved putting Jennifer in a bathing suit on his covers.

Sensational She-Hulk #39 (1992) – And another awesome cover from Byrne.

Sensational She-Hulk #40 (1992) – The first appearance of Marvel Editor at the time Renee Witterstaetter as herself. Renee has done a ton of writing and coloring on top of her editorial work. She’s often seen at Michael Golden’s booth at your local convention. The cover here….wow. Why was John Byrne so into sexually exploiting the She-Hulk on so many covers?? They must have sold well to the fanboys. This issue is the most expensive aftermarket comic in the entire Sensational She-Hulk. More than the corrective color issue a few issues back.  A scarce book here drives up the price and one of the last sexual innuendo covers in this run. John Byrne officially runs into the “political correctness police”. Pushed the envelope too far according to Marvel standards we guess.

Sensational She-Hulk #41 (1992) – The first time creator John Byrne appears (as himself) in the She-Hulk series.

Marc Spector: Moon Knight #41 (1992) – The first time Jennifer appears in a Moon Knight comic.

Sensational She-Hulk #50 (1993) – The 50th anniversary issue. 48 pager. John Byrne loads the book up with guest appearances from a number of Marvel characters. Sensational She-Hulk #52 (1993) – This issue features an Adam Hughes cover!

InvestComics at MegaCon 2016

MegaCon_2016_Cosplay

Another year in the books for InvestComics at MegaCon. This year was the first “full” year Fan Expo had creative control of the show. Gone are Beth and Christine, which ran an amazing show year in and year out. In NO WAY is the following review ANY indication toward Beth or Christine and the way they ran their MegaCon show. They were and are STILL champions in our book. 100% professionalism from them every single year we were part of their press core. We’d wish them luck, but we know whatever they choose to do next, they will rock that too! They don’t need luck, they’re that awesome. Thank you for everything.

Fan Expo put their best foot forward in their debut. A fantastic celebrity lineup; William Shatner, George Takei, Jon Cusack, Kevin Smith, and comic guest; Stan Lee, Frank Miller, Andy Kubert, Gail Simone, David Finch, Mike Zeck and so many more on both sides. Including super cosplay talents Leanna Vamp, Ivy Doomkitty, Rosanna Rocha, Ireland Reid, plus many more! An impressive lineup for sure!

When we did our initial walk-around, the first thing we noticed were the aisles. They were expanded so that fans were not crowded while walking. The staff on hand had a smile at every turn. The volunteers were equally as helpful as the Fan Expo staff. A great all-around experience regarding accommodating the InvestComics staff needs.

InvestComics took an abundance of photos at the show for fans who couldn’t make it. We do that every year and fans love it and respond! Thanks to all the fans who like, or heart, or retweet our photos from all of the social media sources we share them on. If you happen to have missed any, check out our social media links:

InvestComics Facebook page – HERE

InvestComics Twitter – HERE

The panels were held in various halls throughout. The amazing theater we saw Frank Miller, George Takei, and Kevin Smith were worth the ticket price itself. We hope fans got a chance to see their favorite guest(s) in one of these grand rooms. Sound, lighting, seating and ambience was spectacular. If you happened to have missed any panels, do yourself a favor and get there for a few next year. You’ll be happy you did.

InvestComics would like to extend a huge thank you to Ashley Jimenez and the Fan Expo staff for their hospitality and allowing us to be a part of their MegaCon show. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2017!

Besides ALL of the social media images the InvestComics fans loved (and thank you for that!), here is a short video of some highlights. Thank you all….again!

Carpe Diem.

MAJOR SPOILER POSSIBILITY AHEAD. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, SKIP THE FIRST TOP 5 PICK RIGHT NOW.

Before Watchman #4 (2013) – Rumors abound regarding the new DC Universe Rebirth Special #1 comic coming this Wednesday is sparking MAJOR interest in this 2013 Watchmen comic. Total speculation is driving this comic a bit out of control in the aftermarket. Don’t get caught on the high-end of this move because when the dust settles, we’re looking at another ordinary comic that brings a major change within the DC Universe. Some may say, “well isn’t that important though?” Well yes and no. It’s important in the here and now, but who’s to say there isn’t another DC overhaul 3 years from now and that the major Watchmen involvement now is completely erased/meaningless. This Before Watchmen #4 comic, a possible $100 book soon, will be worth nil to cover price very fast in a few years time if DC gets tired of their “game-changing” idea. If you’re in the market for a long haul here, you want to NOT do that. Not saying there isn’t possible monies to be made here, but other sites won’t tell you this; they’ll go on the basis of how much money it’s making at the moment, which is fine, but a wise investor always looks 5, 10, 15, 47 steps ahead. Be that guy, not the fanboy.

DC Universe Rebirth Special #1 – A lot of hype surrounding this comic. A few other surprise nuggets in here that we won’t speak about, but it’s the above mentioned that’s gaining the most attention right now.

Deadpool #12 – Marvel introduces Zenpool 2099.

Scooby-Doo Apocalypse #1 – The new look Scooby-Doo series looks fantastic. Brought to us by superstar creators writers by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis, and art by Jim Lee. This will be a fun read and a dynamic change of pace from what fans know of Scooby-Doo.

Daredevil #7 Apocalypse – The Khoi Pham variant cover is simply awesome. Nuff said.

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Spider-Man #1 (1990) graded 9.4 – signed by Todd McFarlane and Stan Lee. This comic is signed by two of the industries most sought after signatures. The comic is listed at only $99. What a great piece to own.

DC begins their new take on their own universe this Wednesday……again. Haven’t we been here before? Maybe this time will be different and stick for a while. It’s always good to be an optimist. So the DC Universe Rebirth Special #1 comic will be THE comic to start the proverbial ball rolling. The solicit warns readers not to jump to the back of the story (comic). This reveals one thing (most probable/speculation) that there is a big unveiling about to occur. We’re looking forward to this, so should you. Don’t be a whiny fanboy, you’ll eventually read DC Comics if you’re on a strike campaign against them, so why not just pick this comic up and see where DC will be headed?

The Fearsome Five make their return this week in Teen Titans #20. Their first appearance was back in 1981; New Teen Titans #3. Written/drawn/cover by George Perez. And many other great talents as well!

Huge grand finale from DC coming this week. Check out the conclusion to the DarkSeid War in Justice League #50.

As we said with the first new look DC/Hanna Barbera release; Future Quest #1. We love the change, the risk of updating old, mundane, boring characters into modern times. Hear’s a message to the complaining fanboys, who don’t even READ the Scooby-Doo comics, who had a lot to say regarding the new look, new take, new mature theme of the Hanna-Barbera characters. Get over it, seriously. When was the last time you saw one of these fanboys actually buy a Scooby-Doo comic, read it, and then talk to their other fanboy friends about how great it was? Yes, we know that actually DOES exist in some cases, so please no emails or comments on our social media about the few we are speaking of. We’re not saying it doesn’t exist, just saying it’s far a few between that an all ages comic book is read by a 25 year old fanboy, but yet the ones that DON’T read it are the ones yelling the loudest. Simmer down. Scooby-Doo Apocalypse #1 will happen with or without you. Too bad. As for the route fans may use about not having any original material for kids to read regarding Scooby-Doo…..really?? Scooby Doo comics date as far back as 1970, plenty of comic material to pick up on before your child hits their teenage years. So it’s more about YOU than it is about them.

Now let’s get to the Scooby-Doo Apocalypse #1 comic. Written by Keith Giffen, J.M. DeMatteis, and Jim Lee. The character designs are from Jim Lee. Keith and J.M. are veteran writers and always bring it. This comic has all the makings of a hit, but could fall flat on its face because sometimes things don’t always work out just because things “look cool” or have an all-star creative team. Hopefully the hype meets the readers and we get the hit we all expect. A plethora of variant covers will release on new comic day with this arrival. The Jim Lee regular cover is quite nice, but the Neal Adams, Ben Caldwell, and Joelle Jones covers are on point.

Okay, the Daredevil #7 Apocalypse variant cover is just crazy amaze balls. Khoi Pham absolutely killed on this one. Kudos to Khoi here. Kudos.

Another year, another Captain America number one issue. This time he has a new shield! Will this equate to more sales?! Probably not, but the return of Steve Rogers as Captain America in his own title; Captain America Steve Rogers #1 should peak some interest. Oh look at that, just an awesome legend giving fans a Cap cover. Mr. Jim Steranko everyone, step aside.

Another week, another Deadpool comic within the InvestComics Hot Picks article. Fans will see the return of Deadpool 2099 in Deadpool #12. We gave you a heads up on the first appearance of Deadpool 2099 (Warda Wilson & Wade) a few months back in Deadpool #6 (in which the cover completely mirrors the new release here). In the latest Deadpool issue, we’ll witness the first appearance of Zenpool 2099. Zenpool (without the 2099 attached) first appeared in Deadpool #36 (2014 – third volume). If you’re in the market for some cool Deadpool first appearances and key issues, check out the InvestComics Deadpool checklist right HERE.

Anyway, the Nighthawk #1 Bill Sienkiewicz/Denys Cowan regular cover would have sufficed (because it’s so awesome), but instead we get 4 other covers for an easy overkill. The first appearance for THIS particular Nighthawk was in Supreme Power #2 (2003).

Marjorie Lui continues her hit series this week with Monstress #6. If you’re not buying this comic by now, we’re not sure why you’re not. You should be.

Empress #1 – This “Saga” like comic from Mark Millar will be sold out in no time. Watch for this Marvel imprint from Icon to take off. One of the key components to its success will be that it has to be consistent on its release. Millar’s Nemesis, also from Icon, was a semi-success, but lost many fans because of delays. It could have been a bigger book (should have been), but delays will kill things fast. Empress + on time = success.

Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 – Almost every week InvestComics preaches the gospel about Star Wars comics from Marvel. We say to buy them because they are fantastic reads and for the possible first appearance that may explode at any time. This week we have a character from the latest Star Wars movie making their first appearance in a Star Wars comic. What more do you want here? Okay, maybe have your wife/girlfriend or maybe read it with your kid? That would be cool too.

Justice League Darkseid War Special #1 – Darkseid’s daughter, Grail, will be making her indelible mark within the DC universe this Wednesday. DC might be priming her for bigger things to come. Check out the InvestComics Hot Picks #418 for more info on this and about Grail’s first appearance.

Harley Quinn And The Suicide Squad April Fools Special #1 – One of DC’s all time greatest artist will grace us with his presence in this book. Jim Lee will pencil and do the cover art here. What more do you need? Refer back to the new Star Wars comic if you need more answers on that.

Superman #51 – A new story line begins; Super League. Be on the lookout for possible new villains or heroes in this epic Superman crossover event. We’ll probably say “told you so!”

Look for writer Mark Millar to turn things upside down with the debut of Empress #1 from Marvel’s imprint Icon. It’s already getting billed as Marvel Comics version of “Saga”. And we all know how Saga turned out. Mark will introduce fans to a whole new sci-fi world. Hollywood LOVES Mark Millar and we wonder if Marvel Studios would ever pick this up and run with it. Who knows? It could happen. Either way, this is an introduction comic in the vein of Saga, one to watch for here! This will be big.

The new Black Panther series makes its debut this week; Black Panther Vol 6 #1. The longest running Black Panther series lasted 62 issues. Many limited series, one shots, and team-up books over the span of six volumes for the character. Will this series ever make past 62 issues? We’ll see. But the first issue here is accompanied by an abundance of variants to choose from. Pointless, and the need for 13 different covers (at last count, probably more) is a bit excessive. The creative team makes for a must get though. Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Brian Stelfreeze will bring fans back again and again.

Marvel will introduce a new Star Wars character into their library. Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 will have the first comic book appearance of Poe Dameron. Poe appeared in the latest Star Wars flick and now he makes his way into the funnies. Regular InvestComics readers know how we feel about the Star Wars comics. Buy them all! This one here is so obvious that if you miss it, shame on you! Besides Empress #1, this is the other big Marvel book this week.

This week’s Justice League Darkseid War Special #1 will focus on Darkseid’s daughter Grail. A book simmering in the back issue bins on Ebay is Justice League #40 (2015), the first appearance of Darkseid’s daughter Grail. With DC maybe headed towards a Darkseid movie appearance, who’s to say they won’t take a page out of Marvel’s film franchise and include his daughter, a’la Marvel’s Nebula (Thanos). Right now JL #40 might be a gimme at $15….the same price as some worthless variant this week. Maybe getting Justice League #40 instead of a pretty cover makes more sense. Just saying.
There are plenty of DC comic covers by John Romita Jr. to choose from this week. DC is proud to have John Romita Jr. on their side instead of those “other guys”. Some may say or think this is the first time John is playing for the other side, but fans of InvestComics know we’re going to do our research! John Romita Jr. first drew some DC characters back in 1994. Not just “any” characters, he penciled Batman, Robin, Joker, among some others from the DCU. The comic was Batman/Punisher: Deadly Knights. Art by John Romita Jr. and written by Chuck Dixon. John also contributed to the awesome cover. Great comic, great story, Romita Jr.’s first DC work.

While on topic regarding DC’s past history. Bloodlines #1 debuts with writer J.T. Krul and artist Kenneth Marion at the helm. Bloodlines was a huge crossover storyline that took almost 6 months to hammer out back in 1993, spanning from August to December. The very first Bloodlines book was Lobo Annual #1 Bloodlines Outbreak. This comic introduced the Bloodlines Parasites.

It looks like Superman #51 could possibly introduce some new characters within its major new storyline crossing over all of the Superman titles; Super League Part 1 begins here. Keep an eye out on this series for new characters and villains.
Green Arrow will battle Deathstroke in Green Arrow #51. Fantastic covers from Patrick Zircher (regular cover) and John Romita Jr. (variant).

Grizzly Shark #1 from Image Comics looks interesting. Grizzly Shark first appeared in Sea Bear and Grizzly Shark #1 (2010). This Origin debut comic is written by Robert Kirkman. Ever heard of him? Art from the 2010 and 2016 Shark books; Ryan Ottley.

Be sure to check back and click the links or cover(s) to see if the books you want have been listed on Ebay. They usually show up, so be sure to check back!

We have NO control of release dates nor will we change our article to accommodate a change in shipping, release date or cancellation. Hyperion #1

Hyperion #1 – Click To Buy/Bid

Hyperion #1 – Marvel’s latest Superman push. Maybe they want to eventually have a Superman type movie one day. Maybe Disney wants that. And what Disney wants, Disney gets.

Obi-Wan And Anakin #3 – Regular readers on InvestComics know we recommend ANY Star Wars comic. Not only for the fantastic story lines throughout Marvel’s galaxy far far away, but also the potential of a new major Star Wars character getting introduced. That said, Obi-Wan and Anakin visit a new world this Wednesday. A new world could mean a new character!

Venom Space Knight #5 – And speaking of new characters. Check out the new Panda character named Pik Rollo in this comic. That Ariel Olivetti cover kills too.

Delete #1 – The Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, and Justin Gray team is at it again. This time with a Devils Due Publishing release. A must read of course.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #56 – This comic is sold out across the board. Regular and variants. The solicit point to the first appearance of Leatherhead in this issue……..but that’s not the complete truth. Check the InvestComics Hot Picks article to find the true first appearance of Leatherhead.

Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates in purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Avengers #154 (1976) Graded 9.4. there are two standouts here regarding this pick. Let us tell you what the other non-standouts are first. It’s a 1976 book graded at a nice 9.4. It’s the first appearance of Tyrax. Legend, George Perez with interior art. Now let’s hit on the two standouts. First, the cover art is by Al Migrom and comic book legend Jack ‘King’ Kirby. Second, this graded CGC comic is priced at a Buy It Now for only $59.99. Okay one more fantastic thing….free shipping. This must be in your collection. Avengers, George Perez, Al Milgrom, first appearance, and Jack Kirby?! A 9.4 for $59.99 with FREE shipping. No-brainer here. Better grab it before it’s gone.

IDW introduces Leatherhead in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #56. Leatherhead actually first appeared back in 1988’s Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #6 (Mirage Publishing).

Bruce Wayne is back as Batman in Batman #50. Here is Synder and Capullo’s final Batman comic. They’ve had a fine run to say the least. Does it equate to Batman #1 in their run costing so much money in the aftermarket? More questions; Does that comic contain a major first appearance? A death? A creators first work? A low low print run? If the answer was ‘no’ to all of these questions, then the answer to our original question was answered. Here’s another thing. Look to the right upper hand side of the graded Batman #1’s. It’s blank. Nothing there. Not even a new costume reference. Not hating, we absolutely loved the run. Just need to point out the obvious and separate the boys from the men. Long term…..be wise youngsters, invest wisely.
Also reach their 50th issue this week will be Wonder Woman #50.
An awesome fight will be going down in Deathstroke #16. Deathstroke vs. Red Hood. Ding! Ding! Fight!
The Harley Quinn character faces a new direction in her life. Witness it in Harley Quinn #26.
Creator Cory Nord gives fans some eye candy this week. Check out the cover to Suicide Squad Most Wanted Deadshot Katana #3.

The first meeting (fight) between Angela and the new Thor takes place in Angela Queen Of Hel #6. No hair pulling or cat scratching here folks!
The Howling Commandos Of S.H.I.E.L.D. #6 will have the team searching for ORRGO. ORRGO has been used sparingly over the last 53 years. Maybe a little over a dozen appearances? Crazy right? ORRGO’s first appearance was in Strange Tales #90 (1961). A book from Jack Kirby, Don Heck, Steve Ditko, and Stan Lee. Wow, what a line up.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.
Doesn’t Hyperion remind you a bit of Superman on a couple of his covers to Hyperion #1? Maybe Marvel is trying its hand again in trying to deliver their version of Superman. Marvel last tried back in 2000 with Sentry. Sentry was basically Marvel’s Superman at the time. They don’t really have that “Superman” type character. They really don’t need one. Fast forward to Hyperion #1. Marvel may be going back to the well again with the striking resemblance on those covers. Hyperion first appeared (cameo) along with Squadron Sinister in Avengers #69 (1969). His first full appearance was in the next issue; Avengers #70. Sentry (Robert Reynolds), first appeared in The Sentry #1 (2000).
Is The New Avengers #8 comic the first appearance of American Kaiju? It might be.
Obi-Wan And Anakin enter a new world in Obi-Wan And Anakin #3. You know what that means right? New world, new characters!

That all said, we still think the title of the Hulk book is a bit silly, not changing our minds on that one.

Throughout the years InvestComics has explained that there is something within the speculative/collectors market that is just as important as the first appearance of a character. A characters second appearance is not only a fun get, but sometimes very affordable. Sometimes not, therein is the chance to make your decision as an investor to jump in or not. We cannot make that decision for you, nor would we. We will simply guide you and the rest is up to you.

….and we implore you, please read or know the disclaimer before reading on. Thank you.

Click the RED links or comic cover to Buy/Bid right from the article. A new window will open, your place will not be lost.

Journey Into Mystery #84 (1962) – Here’s the second Thor appearance. Cover credits; Jack Kirby/Joe Sinnott. Stan Lee writes. Also the first appearance of Jane Foster.

Flash #147 (1964) – With Zoom (Reverse Flash) doing so well on the television series, it would be a nice get right here with his second appearance.

Amazing Spider-Man #38 (1966) – Mary Jane’s second appearance. It also happens to be the last Steve Ditko issue.

Strange Tales #127 (1964) – InvestComics informed readers many years ago about the first appearance of villain Dormammu before the Doctor Strange movie ever came to fruition. Here is the second appearance.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 (1964) – Here’s another villain InvestComics touched upon as well, but still hasn’t come to light……yet. Check out Mysterio’s second appearance right here. This comic is also the first appearance of the Sinister Six.

New Mutants #88 (1990) – Cable will be hitting the big screen eventually. We all know his first appearance, here’s his second.

Strange Tales #111 (1963) – The Doctor Strange movie will be huge. Once again InvestComics gave readers a heads up way before the movie was ever spoken about, but now we’re letting you know that since the first appearance is out of reach a bit, why not go for a second appearance? Also the first appearance of Baron Mordo and Asbestos Man.

Daredevil #2 (1964) – This comic has TWO second appearances. First; the Daredevil Netflix series is hot hot hot. No telling where they will go with this character. Will there be a reboot movie with the current actor Charlie Cox? It would be a first within the comic book movie industry (modern) for a television superhero actor to make the leap. It seems fitting that Charlie Cox would make that leap to the big screen. Daredevil’s second appearance was in the second issue of his self titled book. A great book to own. This comic also holds the second appearance of Electro! A 4.5 graded on Ebay right now at $149 is a fantastic buy.

The Inhumans movie will be arriving in 2019. By then, Infinity War part II will have hit the screen. A question one may ask here is, will the Inhumans pick up where the Avengers movies cease? Short answer, probably yes. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man (additions Wasp, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Vision) will fill in the new Avengers team roster after the current team is dismantled in Infinity War I & II. The Avengers can and will continue with an all new lineup one day, but until then, the Inhumans will probably take the mantle for a while. It makes total sense here. Some of the Avenger stars have become way too big for their roles, commanding more money and are also getting “older” as the series progresses. Remember when the phase just started? Chris Evans? Chris Hemsworth? Scarlett Johansson? Robert Downey Jr.? And the list goes on. No one really knew if any of this would work. It did. Now that “it did” and the success has and will run its course, ending with Infinity War II (2019), the only logical monetary thing to do is…..start over. Enter the Inhumans.

Since we all know that Marvel does not own the rights to the X-Men, this will be their workaround. Their version of the X-Men and come hell or high water, Marvel will make this work. Just to drive home a point that they don’t need the X-Men, they have the Inhumans.

It’s all going to start the same way it all began back in 2008 with Robert Downey Jr. Get that name everyone recognizes and get it to work. So with the Inhumans, the character that needs to be front/center and to work is Black Bolt. He’s the leader of the Inhumans. The King of Attilan. Who will be chosen to lead the way to another successful 11 year (more or less) run? Black Bolt will be the next “Tony Stark” because of the lead in to introduce the next phase. The character (the team) will play an intricate role in setting the table for everyone to follow.

The Avengers Infinity War parts I & II will probably (most likely) end many of the Marvel on screen careers. Our favorite characters will be gone. Marvel will set a new precedence in offing characters at a ridiculous clip. The reality is, Robert, Chris, Scarlett, Jeremy and all the others who have been around these movies for years are going to move on eventually to other roles other than superheroes. What better way to add finality to an unprecedented run than sending our heroes to sacrifice themselves against the greatest threat the planet and universe has ever seen, Thanos. Do not kid yourselves, there will be many deaths in the Infinity War parts I & II. In actuality, there has to be. The stadium is over capacity. There has to be closure so that the new blood can come in. That new blood being the Inhumans.

So in 2019, it’s all going to come to a head. 11 years to arrive to the greatest battle of all time. The greatest battle in cinema since dad and son went at it with their Lightsabers. It’s going to take every character fans have seen throughout the years and mash them into two movies. The Avengers cannot and will not defeat Thanos alone. Not happening. The Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Winter Solider, Loki, Spider-Man, Warlock and so many more will probably appear in both films. Most will not make it to the next phase.

The comic book speculator has four years to compile their Inhumans comics library. What InvestComics has given the speculative community throughout our ten years is the ability to buy low and….sell high. This checklist is just that. Some of these books are movers right now, but their value in four years time will be immensely different. Tremendous upside here. Yes the first appearance of the Inhumans might be a bit pricey now, but it will not be anywhere near as close to the price it is now when 2019 rolls around. Think big. Think X-Men #1 (1963) or Giant Size X-Men #1 (1975). Marvel Studios’ version of the X-Men will become the next big franchise, do not miss this boat. Inhumans will be huge.

Most of these books if not all of them are extremely affordable…..for now. As time beckons, as news breaks, as announcements are made, as villains are cast, as the Infinity War movie starts coming into light, the Inhumans will become more and more of a household name and you will be very late to the party if you put things on hold until then. Be sure to thank InvestComics for throwing this early party now when the time comes.

As always, there will be missed books within the checklist below. We’re Inhuman, Ha! See what we did there?! There are many books listed. All kinds of first appearances, key issues and cool books in general. We simply do not know what the Inhumans movie will bring, so we tried to cover as many bases as possible for the speculator. If you have a comic you’d like to add, please help the fellow speculators in listing it below in the comment section. AND PLEASE READ THE DISCLAIMER on this site.

Fantastic Four #47 (1966) Every hero needs an adversary. A sibling at that. In this issue, Black Bolt’s insane brother makes his debut; Maximus. This comic also has the first mention and appearance of the land called Attilan.

Thor #148 (1968) The first of three consecutive, most desirable comics to own (besides the first appearance) if one is collecting key Black Bolt books. The origin of Black Bolt starts here (in a backup story). Still very affordable right now, but this will in fact change. This is also the first appearance of the Wrecker. An absolute non-factor because this comic will triple in value in a few years because of the Black Bolt origin, not because of the Wrecker. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee.

Thor #149 (1968) The continuation of Black Bolt’s origin. Must own.

Thor #150 (1968) The Inhumans origin. Must own.

Marvel Super-Heroes #15 (1968) First solo Medusa story. Black Bolt appearance.

Avengers #95 (1972) Another important comic because of the Marvel cinematic universe. It’s going to take more than just the Avengers team to defeat Thanos in Infinity Wars parts I and II. Will the Inhumans join in the fight along side the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy? Maybe. Maybe not, but this comic here is the first Avengers book the Inhumans appear in. Neal Adams art, Roy Thomas writes and John Buscema provides the cover. It’s also an origin story on Black Bolt and Maximus. Another must buy here.

An all new featured article on InvestComics…..

Throughout the years InvestComics has explained that there is something within the speculative/collectors market that is just as important as the first appearance of a character. Sometimes an overlooked nugget, but most are privy to it. A characters second appearance is not only a fun get, but sometimes very affordable. Sometimes not, therein is the chance to make your decision as an investor to jump in or not. We cannot make that decision for you, nor would we. We will simply guide you and the rest is up to you.

We are proud to present a new regular feature on InvestComics called Second Appearances. Here you will see a list of comics featuring some A list characters and not so A list characters. Either way, the speculator will have an inside track on a characters second appearance. What if a character blows up and the first appearance is out of reach financially? Very simple actually, buy the second appearance. Some of the naysayers may say, what and why the second appearance? Well, the fact that two of the premiere grading companies (CBCS and CGC) recognize and highlight second appearances is clue enough. It’s a factor within the hobby. It is important, so why not go with the flow and start getting some of those second appearances? As said earlier, some of them are surprisingly affordable too.

The inaugural edition of InvestComics’ Second Appearances article.

The new Dr. Strange movie will be hitting in July of 2016. That’s not too far off believe it or not. Dr. Strange will be all kinds of awesome when it hits. A new era of Marvel Studios magic will be spectacularly accepted by moviegoers. It’s going to be the first movie in which Marvel can display its CGI full tilt. Not saying they didn’t use CGI a lot in their other films, but we’re talking the mystics here! Yes Awesomeness will ensue, be prepared.

Dr. Strange will be a huge hit. Some of his key back issues have already exploded and we’re here to make sure you’re on point to join the frenzy.

Strange Tales #126 (1964) InvestComics recommended this comic a few years ago; the first appearance of Dormammu. We were ahead of the curve (as we usually are) in the sense we were foreshadowing to buy this book if a Doctor Strange movie ever gets made. Dormammu will probably be the nemesis in the Strange film. Also the first appearance of Clea which is also a good speculative thought to appear in the film.
