NOTE. Please understand that when InvestComics releases the Hot Picks article on Friday that many of the independent comics may not be available on Ebay yet. Most of the time, some of the more obscure titles make their way onto Ebay later on in the week or right on/at/before new comic book day on Wednesday. Be sure to check back and click the links or cover(s) to see if the books you want have been listed on Ebay. They usually show up, so be sure to check back!

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Incredible Hulk #100 (CGC 9.8). We’ve been saying it for years and years. Planet Hulk will be a factor on the big screen and the comic book market (already has). This $99 higher grade comic will be double its value, easily, once Planet Hulk comes more into light as becoming a reality of a blockbuster movie. That is all. Buy it soon, a few collectors are watching it.

Harley Quinn Checklist

Batman Harley Quinn

Batman Harley Quinn (1999) – First DC Universe appearance in continuity – Click to Buy/Bid

Batman Adventures #12

Batman Adventures #12 (1993) – First ever appearance of Harley Quinn – Click to Buy/Bid

Batman Adventures #12 (1993) – The first appearance of Harley Quinn. This comic features the “animated” version of Harley and not the actual “continuity” Harley Quinn” within the DC Universe. There are approximately 14+ or so books before she ever appeared within the confines of the actual DC Universe. Here are some of those early appearances (listed below).

Batman Adventures: Mad Love #1 (1994) – Second “non-continuity” Harley appearance.

Batman Adventures Annual #1 (1994) – Third appearance and legend John Byrne actually pencils a Harley Quinn story here. How great is that???!!

Batman Adventures #28 (1995)

Batman and Robin Adventures #1 (1995)

Batman Adventures: Holiday Special (1995)

Batman and Robin Adventures #8 (1996)

Batman and Superman Adventures: Worlds Finest (1997)

Batman and Robin Adventures #17 (1997)

Batman and Robin Adventures #18 (1997)

Batman Chronicles Gallery #1 (1997) – Harley made an appearance in the regular DC Universe with a pinup in this comic before the next book listed here.

Batman Harley Quinn (1999) – Here is the first official Harley Quinn entry (appearance) into the DC Universe. Also an origin issue. A modern day classic cover; Alex Ross.

Batman No Mans Land Gallery #1 (1999) – Harley’s second appearance is very much like her first. In a gallery book. So this means that this comic is not really recognized as her second appearance in the DC Universe, very much like her first appearance.

Batman #570 (1999) – Harley’s second appearance. Many collectors are hoarding these away for a future gauntlet throw down to maximize their potential earnings. Not an easy book to get.

Detective Comics #737 (1999) – The third appearance of Harley Quinn.

Action Comics #765 (2000) – Harley steps out of a Batman comic universe for the first time. This comic is also the first time she appears in the same book as Superman. A definite collectors item here and it’s an affordable book too!

Harley Quinn #1 (2000) – 7 years after her debut into the comic book world, Harley finally gets her own title.

Wonder Woman #164 (2001) – Harley in the same comic as Wonder Woman for the first time. A ridiculously gorgeous Adam Hughes cover as well.

Batman 613

Batman #613 – Click to Buy/Bid

Harley Quinn #4 (2001) – First appearance of the Quinntets.

Harley Quinn: Our Worlds at War #1 (2001) – This comic not only possess a great story, but it also marks the first time Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti get their creative Quinn popped. Amanda and Jimmy are THE go-to when it comes to Harley Quinn and this is their first work on the character.

Click on the RED links or the comic cover to buy/bid from All sellers on Ebay.

Jokers Last Laugh Secret Files #1 (2001) – A couple of months later, Amanda and Jimmy do a backup story in this book. The beginnings of the Quinn/Conner/Palmiotti threesome. A Threesome that will become a monthly romp in about 13 years.

Batman #613 (2003) – During Jim Lee’s epic Batman run, he penciled Harley into the Hush story line. He got her right on the cover too. When a talent like Jim Lee draws any character for the first time, it’s time to take notice.

Harley Quinn #38 (2004) – Walking Dead artist Charlie Adlard pencils the final issue of Harley’s first comic book run. Nice way to go out right? With Charlie at the helm and a low print run, this makes for an attractive comic.

Suicide Squad #1 (2011) – This comic is essentially Harley’s first appearance “post Flashpoint” and the character in the movie will be in direct correlation to THIS particular time frame. Hence the high mark selling points in the aftermarket. Her second appearance came a week later in Batman #1 (2011).

Suicide Squad #6 (2012) – The origin of Harley Quinn. The first of two parts. Two major comics for ANY Quinn collector. Great cover too.

Suicide Squad #7 (2012) The origin of Harley Quinn concludes. Another stellar cover.

Injustice Gods Among Us #1 (2013) – The first “Injustice” appearance of Harley.

Harley Quinn #0 (2014) – The trio is back together. Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Harley Quinn! Along with Amanda and Jimmy in this issue you have, Adlard, Cooke, Daniel, Hughes, Kieth, Lee, and Simonson just to name a few. First appearance’s of Bernie (the talking beaver. Yep, talking beaver), and Robert Coachman.

Secret Origins #4 (2014) – A deeper look into the Harley character. Brought to you by Amanda and Jimmy.

Harley Quinn #10 (2014) – First appearance of the Brooklyn Bruisers team.

InvestComics Super Sunday Comic Hot Picks 2-8-12

Welcome to the Super Sunday InvestComics Comic Hot Picks 2-8-12

Yes it’s Superbowl Sunday and it’s also time for your regular Sunday column! Included this week is a special mini gallery, but more on that shortly……Let’s check some Hot Picks first.

DC’s Suicide Squad #6 continues to sell nicely, as most of the New 52 line. This week in SS#6 the Squad needs to hunt down Harley Quinn led by team leader Deadshot. Deadshot is a very cool underrated character at times and it’s about time people stand up and take notice. Deadshot first appeared way back in 1950 in Batman #59. This comic is a light $2000. Not too shabby to take a “shot” at this comic.

Sticking to the death theme here, Deathstroke #6 will be coming out much to the glee of FFFIC’s very own Shaun Sorenson. Shaun loves this book and InvestComics loves this character. Deathstroke is a total badas* and so is his first appearance in The New Teen Titans #2 (1980). Bad as*es George Perez and Marv Wolfman also are attached to this undervalued book. A mere $48 for Mr. Wilson’s first appearance is a steal.

When exactly are we going to get the big reveal in Marvel’s Battle Scar’s? We know it’s coming right? Check out this week’s issue number four upon arrival to see if we get the “I’m Nick Fury’s son” reveal. Should be a nice moment, not shocking right?

FFFIC’s Sebastian Piccione loves the Secret Avengers comic. So much to his glee (everyone is happy this week!) issue number 22 comes out.  The issue features an appearance of Adaptoids. Although the Adaptoids are and will probably always fade into obscurity, it’s always fun to search where these characters originate from. Did you know that the first Super-Adaptoid appeared in Tales of Suspense #82 in 1966? Probably not, but it’s one of those useless knowledge things that maybe you could carry around with you to impress your fellow comic book buddies. Not! Anyway, the cover of TOS #82 features an amazing Jack Kirby cover (as usual) and comes in at the $100 range.

Three more comics to check out also this week are Ted McKeever’s Mondo #1. Ted has been in the game since 1987 and has an extensive resume to say the least. You can own his first published work for only $2! Look for Ted McKeever’s Transit #1 from Vortex Comics. Kevin Keller, Archie’s first gay character Kevin Keller debuts in his new ongoing series. His first appearance is in Veronica #202. Conan #1 from Dark Horse Comics hits the shelf this week. Conan’s first appearance as we all know came in Roy Thomas’/Barry Windsor-Smith’s Marvel book in 1970, a $360 book that looks to be at a stalemate considering the last movie as well as nothing to gain traction for it. Maybe Dark Horse will get the ball rolling again? We’ll see….

Well the Superbowl is upon us. All the hype gets put to rest today and we get to watch a football game! So what does the Superbowl have to do with comics? Absolutely nothing actually! One thing can definitely be said about sports and comics. They just don’t mesh well at all. Want some proof? No problem! Take a look below after the Covers of the Week and you can scroll through a few sports related comics (with a couple of “surprises” for us boys). You’ll soon realize that Sports are sports and Comics are comics, not to be mixed, but fun nonetheless! Enjoy.

See you next week, Invest wisely.
