Savage Things #1 will begin a new 8 part series from DC Comics. Writer Justin Jordan and artist Ibrahim Moustafa bring this movie style story.
Bane continues his onslaught within the Batman storyline ‘I Am Bane’ (part 3). Batman #18.
‘Superman Reborn’ part one starts in Superman #18. Brought to us by the team of Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason.

We’re guessing Marvel is growing a bit tired of replacing many of their male heroes with female counterparts. Yes, we know, there are still original male characters around, but there have never been so many female characters taking the mantle as Marvel’s main focus. Not saying this is a bad thing either. We love the change! So with that said, Captain America gets his semi-replacement, and yes he’s still that Hydra dude, but Marvel brings in America Chavez. SHE gets her own series with America #1 and doesn’t really have to replace anyone. Ms. Chavez won’t become Ms. Captain America, so that’s a good thing. (And Steve Rogers will be Captain America again, so unknot your panties that are bunched up, relax will ya? Enjoy the story, stop protesting.) Back to America Chavez, a Latin America female hero, we love it. Ms. Chavez first appeared in Vengeance #1 (2011). There are copies on Ebay up for grabs. Maybe America Chavez takes off and she gets love from fans. We’d understand the love for America Chavez more so than a Spider-Gwen or a Gwenpool, just saying. Hopefully America #1 gets fans picking it up and spreading the word. We’re confident Gabby Rivera (writer) and artist Joe Quinones will deliver a comic that will have fans talking and coming back for more.
Deadpool #28 ‘Til Death Do Us?’ part one. Gerry Duggan (writer). Scott Hepburn (artist). Venomized cover by David Lopez.
Doctor Strange gets the Venom treatment in Doctor Strange #18. Venomized cover by Tess Fowler.

Like Mad Max? Like blood? Guts? Fantastic because Extremity #1 (Image Comics) is up your alley. A must check out comic this week from Daniel Warren Johnson (writer/artist).
Archie Comics’ Riverdale #1 one shot will be based on the television show. Written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. This will be a primer issue before the regular ongoing hits.

From our friends up north, Chapterhouse Comics,  Agents Of Pact #1. Described as a cross between Birds Of Prey and X-Files. We’re sold! The folks at Chapterhouse Comics are always on point, so we’ll be looking for this comic on Wednesday. Written by Kalman Andrasofszky and Blake Northcott. Art by Federica Manfredi.

Scout Comics hits us with a murder/mystery/Intrigue comic; Smoketown #1. Scout Comics has appeared within the InvestComics Hot Picks quite a few times. That’s because their storytelling is so Interesting. They’ve become a good habit. Creators, Phillip Kennedy Johnson (writer) and Scott Van Domelen (artist) at the helm.

Remember when the Rat Queens comic was crazy stupid hot? It still commands a decent payday due to speculators camping out on the fact it still may become a television series. Their first full appearance was in Rat Queens #1 (2013). Their second series begins this Wednesday; Rat Queens #1. Kurtis Wiebe writes and Owen Gieni pencils.

Be sure to check back and click the links or cover(s) to see if the books you want have been listed on Ebay. They usually show up, so be sure to check back!

Each week InvestComics seeks out a comic(s) on Ebay for $100 or less and then brings it to the attention of our fans. We call it IC 100 Club Pick. The idea is to get a great book at a great price. We do not own nor are we selling these comics. The comics are found by a random process. We do not know the ebay seller(s), nor are we promoting the Ebay seller. Any knowing from the Ebay seller of InvestComics or its affiliates is purely coincidental. (See disclaimer for more details).

IC 100 Club Pick: Here are four comics to BUY NOW at or under $99. No biding. Man-Thing #1 (1979) 9.8. A high grade bronze here and origin retold for only $66.49. DC Super Stars #17 (1977) 7.5. This is the first full appearance and origin of Huntress (Helena Wayne) at only $84. Forever People #8 (1972) 9.6. An earlier Darkseid appearance, Jack Kirby story, art and cover for $84.95. Marvel Feature #4 (1972) 5.5. First Bronze Age Ant-Man appearance and origin retold. Spider-Man appearance as well. All this for only $60.

DC Rebirth Holiday Special #1 will deliver the goods on new comic day. A ton of world class talent in this $9.99 special. DC is touting the return of Detective Chimp in this book as well. The last time we saw Detective Chimp in action was in 2011’s Zatanna #16. A hard to find/scarce comic and a fantastic Adam Hughes cover to boot. If you’re interested, Detective Chimp’s first appearance (modern) into the DC universe occurred in DC Comics Presents #35 (1981). Art from legend Gil Kane.
Deathstroke #8 concludes the ‘Professional’ story line as Deathstroke battles Superman. The Shane Davis cover is a keeper. More so if you’re a Superman fan….And that Jim Lee Suicide Squad #8 cover too. Wow.
Harley Quinn not only becomes more of a player, but will grace one of the variant covers of the new Batman TMNT Adventures #2.

Daredevil #14 puts the villain Muse front and center in the conclusion of the ‘Dark Art’ story line. Muse paints a dismal Daredevil cover here. A terrific Ron Garney cover. He’s been killing it with these unbelievable Daredevil covers hasn’t he?? Muse could be a villain that sticks in Daredevil’s side for years to come. Muse(2) first appeared a few issues ago in Daredevil #11.

It turns out (no surprise), after much muttering, moaning and complaining (instead of giving things a chance first, what a concept there), Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows debut was a likable first issue. The consensus is stating that fans actually dig the first issue and now Marvel needs to follow it up with more of the same to garner even more interest. Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows #2 will have the new modern day Fantastic Four comic, but with three, different players, a family, well you get the idea, fighting their way out of an attack from the Mole Man. The J. Scott Variant family cover is a beauty. Speaking of Mr. J. Scott Campbell, his Red Sonja #0 variant jumps off the cover.
Kate Bishop begins her solo career this Wednesday, bumping off Clint in Hawkeye #1. Kind of like what Prescott did to Romo. (NFL fans only understand this reference, sorry non-sports fan). Check out Kate Bishop’s first appearance in Young Avengers #1 (2005).
Salvador Espin pays homage to Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man #1 (1990) with his cover for Deadpool Back In Black #5. Also, Chris Stevens pays homage Rob Liefeld’s New Mutants #87 (1990) with his cover for Guardians Of The Galaxy #15.

The battle begins for the ultimate supreme mutant team in the Marvel universe. IVX #1 pits the Inhumans against the X-Men. Lets revisit here, Disney is so perturbed with Fox Studios regarding the X-Men franchise and them not ‘teaming up’ with Marvel Studios that the original ‘X’ books and Wolverine have basically disappeared from their comic book universe altogether. Disney has announced the Inhumans will be starring in their own television show by next year. Now Disney realized a bit how insecure they have looked, so they are bringing back ONE X title(s) by early next year. So……our money is on the Inhumans. That’s until Fox relinquishes or lets Disney borrow Wolverine from their clasp. Then our dough will be on the X-Men. We can switch sides like that. So can you.

Black #3 from Black Mask Comics will sell out. Great story, great product, great company.
Mark Millar and Greg Capullo continue to truck along with their hot series, Reborn. While Reborn #1 hits its third printing this Wednesday, the latest installment, Reborn #3 will hit as well.
Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso are on the same schedule as Reborn each month with their hot series too. Moonshine #3, this Wednesday. Writer Fred Van Lante and artist Ryan Dunlavey offer up the followup to their successful first issue, check out Comic Book History of Comics #2. This series will not disappoint.

More number one comics to check out on new comic book day. New IDW Transformers comic; Transformers Lost Light #1. Writer Joe Harris’ Rockstar #1 (Image Comics). Doctor Strange Punisher Magic Bullets #1 (Marvel), the Run The Jewels variant by Marco D’Alfonso is a keeper. Shadows On The Grave #1 (Dark Horse), written and drawn by Richard Corben.

Smosh #1 – We informed readers on Friday that this comic was definitely one to keep an eye out on. The comic is completely sold out across the board. Variants and the regular cover. Yes we did warn readers this was a book to watch for. We hate to say we told you so, but……we told you so.

Gwenpool #0 – The incentive variant is sold out. We spoke about this too.

Punisher #1 – The Alex Maleev variant is sold out. Yes, yes we spoke about this as well. We spoke about the new Punisher series, written by Beck Cloonan in length in this week’s InvestComics Hot Picks #422. Read up on it.

Renato Jones One Percent #1 – This offering from writer/artist Kaare Andrews is a winner.

Spider-Gwen #8 – Two variant covers have new Spider-Gwen characters on them. A Spider-Gwen Samurai and Iron Spider-Gwen. Could me nothing, but Gwenpool first appeared on a cover too.

IC 100 Club Pick: Superman #23.1 10.0 (2013). This comic serves as no significance in every day collectors life, but it does have the origin of Bizarro. We do feel that Bizarro will eventually make it to either the big screen or little screen one day, but that’s not really why we have this comic featured here. If you ever wanted to own a perfect gem mint comic book, a 10.0, here is your chance for only $89 and FREE shipping. Not a bad deal for a perfect comic book.

Midnighter #12 has Apollo, Suicide Squad and Midnighter himself squaring off against a dude as powerful as Superman and as smart as Midnighter. His name is Unified and his first appearance was in the previous issue; Midnighter #11.
Neal Adams is killing it with his Superman The Coming Of Supermen comics. And check out the cover to Superman The Coming Of Supermen #4!
Green Arrow #52 features a dead Green Arrow at the hands of Deathstroke. Not really dead, but still makes for some high drama! Fantastic Patrick Zircher cover.
The Super League storyline, part 5, will bring the team Great 10 on board. Check out Batman Superman #32 for that. And just to make sure you have it, Great 10’s first appearance was in 52 #6 back in 2006. Not that many appearances under their belt in ten years. 30 in all maybe?

Dynamite Entertainment is all in with their Kings Quest #1 release. Nine (noine) covers to choose from here. The Chris Ellopoulos cover and the Colton Worley cover are our favorites.
Okay so Dynamite has this interesting comic coming out on Wednesday and it’s going to be extremely interesting to see how it all plays out. The comic is Smosh #1. Smosh is a social media conglomerate. They have 22 million Youtube subscribers and millions more in other social media outlets. They are now releasing their first ever comic book. With social media driving so much marketing around us, will Smosh use this opportunity to benefit in promoting a different medium for themselves? Will they use their media brand to sell comics?  How will all this equate to comic sales?? Something to keep an eye out on if they decide to promote via their vast media audience. Better buy this comic for the rawness of its story, it sounds hysterical, and for the possible sell out due to supply not meeting demand.

Marvel releases it’s tenth volume Punisher #1 this week. You probably did the eye roll seeing that the Punisher has another number one comic coming out. What if we told you that THIS time is a bit different? He’s something to chew on. Out of the ten volume number one issues, never did one start with a name like Becky Cloonan. Becky will be the first female writer on the start of a new Punisher series. It will be quite refreshing to get a new take on this character from a female perspective. Becky Cloonan is an all-start and has been around since the beginning of the millennium. She’s no stranger as to how comics are written or drawn for that matter. Punisher #1 this time will truly have a new outlook. One more thing, the amazing Alex Maleev variant is sold out. As is the pointless Captain America Punisher #1 cover by John Cassaday. Nice cover, but we don’t care it’s a celebratory 75th anniversary Cap cover, makes no sense not to have the Punisher on the cover, period.

InvestComics gave readers a heads up on the first ever Gwenpool comic a while back. Fans listened and bought them up. She donned the cover of Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #2 (the one we recommended). Now Marvel is re-releasing that particular comic along with other Gwenpool appearances. Gwenpool #0 collects a bunch of Gwenpool stories including her first appearance, but that variant new blood red pool cover (that original comic we recommended), yeah it’s sold out already.
So you want another first appearance on a cover? Sure why not?! How about Spider-Gwen #8 featuring Spider-Gwen Samurai. This variant cover is from John Tyler Christopher. How about Iron Spider-Gwen first appearance? Does that tickle your fancy? She appears on a Spider-Gwen #8 variant as well. We’re not too sure who that cover is from.
Jamal Campbell’s variant Amazing Spider-Man #12 cover is a beauty, wow.

Whenever a Daredevil/Punisher comic comes out, it’s a must get. These two characters make beautiful comics together. Blindspot will join Daredevil in Daredevil Punisher #1 to TRY and take down Frank Castle. Blindspot does not have many appearances since entering the Marvel Universe in All New All Different Point One #1 (2015), his first appearance. Daredevil and the Punisher first met up in that famous/classic Daredevil #181 (1982) comic.
A few months ago Marvel gave us a first ever look at the Mexican Deadpool in Deadpool Masacre #1. It was an all Spanish written book. Now we get the English version of that exact book this Wednesday.

It appears a new Iron Man (Girl) will be making their first appearance in Invincible Iron Man #9. The female characters have dominated the Marvel landscape these days and much to the delight of fans. It’s working out real well.
Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 introduced some new Star Wars characters. Now we learn more about Captain Terrex in Star Wars Poe Dameron #2.
Marvel’s semi-answer to DC’s Suicide Squad debuts this Wednesday; Thunderbolts #1. It’s the teams third number one issue (third volume). The Thunderbolts have been around (with different members throughout the years) for almost 20 years already. They were first introduced in Incredible Hulk #449 (1997).
Mark Millar’s Empress #2 comes out. We said this with the first issue, as long as this series is on time, it should do well.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 2/26/14

Marvel will give it another go with the Fantastic Four this week; Fantastic Four (2014 5th Series) #1. Don’t look for a big payday down the road on this comic at all. Maybe you’re thinking of getting the biggest variant available in this lot. Plucking down $300 to profit on an Alex Ross variant will be a huge risk because the new FF series will not hold up as far as the speculators market goes. This will be hot out of the gate then will quickly succumb to the doldrums of boredom like each and every Fantastic Four series prior. Didn’t Marvel try to kill off the Human Torch a couple of years ago? A publicity stunt that failed miserably, no one cared because we all knew that Johnny would be back. Getting back to the Alex Ross variant. Even if you got this signed and graded, you probably break even. There will be no demand after the first couple of issues for the back issues of this series. Buy the regular cover, read it and throw it in your read pile.

[scrollGallery id=336]

You want a variant that will pay off?  Here’s a big task to try, but it would be a rare treat to own, thus maybe getting some premium dollar for it. Pick up the Empire of the Dead (2014 Marvel) #2 variant with the George Romero/Arthur Suydam team-up cover. Get Mr. Romero and Mr. Suydam to sign it, grade it, and watch the counter uptick on this one.

Marvel’s UK comics continues their a’ la Secret Wars/Crisis (lots of characters in one book) this week with Revolutionary War Alpha (2014 Marvel) #5. Check out the battle between Super Soldiers and Mys-Tech. I still strongly believe this is a test market for Marvel/Disney to see if they have something here to follow up on. Will Marvel Studios ever have a Marvel UK line? Maybe an animated show/dvd movie? Who knows, but why are we getting so much hardcore awesomeness from the Marvel UK market? The Marvel/Disney brain trust never does anything to just do it. I would suggest to cover your bases to get your Marvel UK first appearances in order just in case anything breaks out. Most of these first appearances are extremely affordable, so the speculator essentially doesn’t have much to lose here. Check out the Super Soldiers first in their self-titled comic Super Soldiers #1 (1993). Also Mys-Tech’s first is in Warheads #1 (1992).

Ultimate Spider-Man (2012 Marvel Universe) #23 will feature the superhero cleanup crew known as Damage Control. Check out their debut in Marvel Comics Presents #19 (1989).

In a rare appearance a Top Cow makes it to the InvestComics Hot Picks list this week.  Artifacts (2010 Top Cow) #35 debuts creator/writer Hannibal Tabu’s first work.

Adventures of Superman (2013) 2nd Series #10 introduces a “young boy”. Who’s to say that this young lad doesn’t materialize into something later on down the road? It’s happened before.

This week in the “huh?” department we have Superman Lois Lane (2014) #1 and X-Files Conspiracy Transformers (2014) #1. Last week we saw the X-Files tackle the TMNT in a cool variant, but the X-Files and TMNT? Now the X-Files and Transformers? Very odd indeed. How about Lois Lane getting her own title. Really? Lois lost the Superman romance sweepstakes, so as a consolation prize DC rewards Lois with her own comic! From a pure speculator eye on both of these comics, don’t look for any movement what so ever.

You want movement this week? You want some bang for your buck? Two Image Comics will sell out and command some money in the aftermarket this week. One Hit Wonder (2014) #1 and Revenge (2014 Image) #1. Leave 5% of your re-sale in the InvestComics donation box below. Haha!

Other number one issues to check out this week Tomb Raider (2014) #1 with writer extraordinaire Gail Simone on this one. Vandroid (2014) #1, Pariah (2014 Dark Horse) #1, Edge of Empire (2014) #1, and Conan fans rejoice King Conan Conqueror (2014 Dark Horse) #1 will debut.

Invest wisely. Carpe Diem.

Foreign Comics – Checklist

Collecting both original and reprint foreign comics can be a daunting task.  Editions are as rare for Moebius prestige format comics as they are for key 2000 A.D. issues, Grant Morrison’s first published work or high grade copies of Warrior Magazine.   Beyond this list there are a considerable number of collectible foreign comics.  Currently these are my recommendations:

Disclaimer:

Remember, the internet comic collecting community feasts on the slow and there is also no guarantee that any of what follows will be worth anything more than a damn to you.  Though there is a viable marketplace for the buying and selling of sequential art collectibles,  do not forget that it is a competitive and volatile realm.

If Age of Extinction incorporates the Dinobots look for rare appearances to dry up on the back issue market.  Their first appearance is in issue 4 ( March 1985 ) of the Marvel US series.  This issue predates that one but features the same cover?  I have yet to confirm if this is the earliest appearance of the Dinobots.

Titans 5

2113757-700970

Reprinting GOTG’s first appearance, this long running series represents the gold standard in foreign comic printing:  This French comic series collects Skull The Slayer (1975) #1,  Doc Savage (1972)  2, Super Heroes (1967) 18 and The Champions (1975) #2.  The Guardians also appear in other issues from this series.

Titans 155

There may be some of these still available on Ebay but it’s going to be tough to get in high grade. The Ultron cover is just another reason to buy and hold this printing of New Mutants 98!

Death’s Head has seen his ups and downs in popularity over the years.  In the mainstream Marvel U he has recently reemerged with some upgrades.  Time will tell if his first appearance will rise in value but with his cult-like following this issue will always be worth owning.  Issue 117 is worth a look too!

There is some debate as to when Psylocke first debuted but Betsy Braddock first appeared in this issue of Captain Britain.  I have included this issue of SSM & CB because is holds a rare early appearance of Betsy and is scarce in its own right.

Mighty World of Marvel 197,198

Mighty World of Marvel Uk 198 1st Wolverine

We all know how much Wolverine’s first and cameo are worth.  The MWOM reprinted those momentous issues and like others on this list have become nearly impossible to track down.

These over sized comics  should appeal to fans of  both the galaxy far, far away and the Guardians of the Galaxy!   With low print runs, and appearances by other Marvel characters  such as Warlock and the Micronauts,  these comics may be harder to find thanks to a more broad demand.

L’Incroyable Hulk 130/131

Rocket Raccoon app

This French printing of The Incredible Hulk collects both issues of the regular Marvel series 271,272.  Why is this important?  Issue 271 is the first appearance of Rocket Raccoon in color and in a comic ( see Marvel Preview 7 for his first appearance ).  Unbeknownst to many Rocket also appeared in issue 272 via flashback.  This issue collects those two issues but oddly is printed in black and white.  To my knowledge it is the only publication that prints the first Rocket Raccoon color pages with no color.

Empire Strikes Back Monthly: 151,154,155,156, 159

TESBMonthly156

Alan Moore’s incredible Star Wars tales were originally printed in these amazing UK comics and later collected in 2 regular size editions from Dark Horse.  They remain some of the best stories from a universe that has seen its share of poor writing.

Batman Legends 13

066c3a53-0084-4a25-81fc-8d36a0ad149c

The UK Batman Legends series reprinted collected issues from Vol. 1 of Batman.  In America the 666 Batman issue is not that easy to come by and the same holds true for this UK version.

Daredevils 7

This one makes my list  twice this month.  The white cover and mag size make finding one  in high grade a tough task.   Time will tell if Marvel’s reprinting will reignite the popularity of the character.  If Miracleman were to ever be incorporated into the mainstream Marvel universe, enjoyed by both critics and the larger fanbase, and becomes a worthy marketing property-then this comic will explode in value.  The odds of all that happening are not good but this book is still super scarce.

UK price variants,  other overseas  price variants and Canadian pricing variants also hold value depending on rarity and issue #.  There is an extensive collecting community when it comes to these rare issues  much like Bronze age price variants and regional variants here is the states!

Good Luck!

IDW brings back the DINOBOTS for New TRANSFORMERS Digital Miniseries

DINOBOTS enter the TRANSFORMERS PRIME world for the first time ever!

San Diego, CA (August 15, 2012) – IDW Publishing, Hasbro, Activision, and High Moon Studios are thrilled to welcome the launch of the new digital comic series: TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON! Announced at Comic-Con International San Diego last month, and beginning today, this new series will offer fans an exclusive look at the story that precedes the explosive new game.

In the days leading up to the events of Activision and High Moon Studios’ TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON video game, we see the origin of the fearsome DINOBOTS as they encounter a secret DECEPTICON plot and take on a slew of enemies including SHOCKWAVE and the INSECTICONS!

“It’s a lot of fun to have a chance to play in the sandbox of the Fall of Cybertron game. I’m lucky enough to get to write one of our Transformers ongoing comics, and edit the rest, but doing these stories in this setting… well, it’s a real blast!” said writer JOHN BARBER.

BARBER continued “I sat down with Dave Cravens, the head writer of the game at High Moon Studios, and we plotted out the whole comic one afternoon. It was great to get to work that closely with somebody so intimately involved in the game, so we could really make sure this comic actually fits in with the story the game is telling–and plays into the larger TRANSFORMERS mythology. Plus, anybody who knows me knows I love me some Dinobots, so it was a thrill to get to write them!”

Don’t miss TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON, a prequel to the much-anticipated videogame, written by Barber (Transformers: Robots in Disguise) with art by Dheeraj Verma (Escape of the Living Dead)! Issues #2-5 will also include exclusive preview pages from TRANSFORMERS: THE ART OF THE FALL OF CYBERTRON, coming soon from IDW!

The series will run for six digital-only installments on a bi-weekly schedule, and will be available all digital platforms including Apple iOS, Android, and online.

TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON ($0.99, 8 pages; full color) will be available in August in IDW’s Apple iPad™, iPhone® and iPod touch®, apps – Transformers Comics and IDW Comics, and on the Web at read.idwpublishing.com. The series will also be featured in the Comics by comiXology platform for iOS, Android, Web and Kindle Fire, and Comics + by iVerse.

TRANSFORMERS PRIME – RAGE OF THE DINOBOTS #1 ($3.99, 32 pages; full color) will be available in November 2012.

TWO ALL-NEW TRANSFORMERS SERIES DEBUTING IN JANUARY

TWO ALL-NEW TRANSFORMERS SERIES DEBUTING IN JANUARY

“Two Titles, One Universe”

Two Series to follow shattering TRANSFORMERS: THE DEATH OF OPTIMUS PRIME issue in December

[Transformers: Death of Optimus Prime Image]San Diego, CA (December 21, 2011)— Launching in January, IDW Publishing is proud to offer TRANSFORMERS and comics fans everywhere two new ongoing TRANSFORMERS comics series– TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE and TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE. Under license from Hasbro, the two interrelated series are a direct continuation of IDW’s CHAOS event and spring directly out of the special TRANSFORMERS: THE DEATH OF OPTIMUS PRIME issue releasing in comic stores and online on December 21st. Both series will appeal to existing TRANSFORMERS fans and new readers. Featuring two great stories under one TRANSFORMERS comic universe, each series offers never-before-seen action, new threats and new villains that both current readers and those new to the series will enjoy.

“The response to the TRANSFORMERS ongoing series has been phenomenal,” says IDW senior editor John Barber. “This relaunch is a chance to jump onboard for anybody who might have been missing out. We’ve got big stories planned, and there’s never been a better time to read TRANSFORMERS.”

Created as a stepping on point for both fans of super-heroic and science fiction comics, as well as fans of the TRANSFORMERS characters, TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE and TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE each explore the new status quo coming out of IDW’s CHAOS event including BUMBLEBEE’s new leadership position for all TRANSFORMERS. The war between AUTOBOT and DECEPTICON is over, and now the hard part begins. In the new world of CYBERTRON, there are only two choices: stay or go.
[Transformers More Than Meets the Eye #1]
Helmed by writer James Roberts with art and covers by Nick Roche, RODIMUS calls on his fellow AUTOBOTS to leave CYBERTRON in search of the KNIGHTS OF CYBERTRON in TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE. This lost tribe of TRANSFORMERS characters is, according to legend, the guardian of the original Cybertronian culture and RODIMUS and his followers begin a quest that will stretch to the farthest reaches of the galaxy to find the KNIGHTS and restore CYBERTRON to its past glory.

TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE, written by John Barber, with art and covers by Andrew Griffith, follows BUMBLEBEE and the AUTOBOTS remaining on CYBERTRON. Without OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE finds himself in command of a world gone mad. TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DIGUISE brings readers through the struggle to rebuild CYBERTRON as the AUTOBOTS, DECEPTICONS and civilian TRANSFORMERS, who don’t distinguish between the other two groups, all vie for control.
[Transformers Robots in Disguise #1 Cover]
Each series will feature four interconnecting covers for issue #1. Marcele Matere creates the Cybertronian mosaic for TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DIGUISE, with Alex Milne bringing the explorers to life for TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE.

These two new, action-packed series are the direct result of IDW’s CHAOS event, culminating in December’s TRANSFORMERS: THE DEATH OF OPTIMUS PRIME and TRANSFORMERS #31.

In addition to the print editions, IDW’S TRANSFORMERS comics are available digitally through Apple’s App Store in the free TRANSFORMERS app, which features every TRANSFORMERS comic in one place. Many TRANSFORMERS comics are available in the Sony Digital Comics store.

The Road to TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON Begins

Prequel comics offer first taste of hugely anticipated film.
Movie adaptation launching May 25th

San Diego, CA (April 25, 2011) – Starting today, TRANSFORMERS fans worldwide can begin the journey to TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, one of the summer’s most anticipated movies, set to be released by Paramount Pictures on July 1, 2011. Coming from IDW Publishing and Hasbro, two monthly comic series give readers the first look at this intergalactic adventure. TRANFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON – RISING STORM leads right into the mega events of the film, while TRANFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON – FOUNDATION offers the never-before-seen tale of how OPTIMUS PRIME and MEGATRON became bitter enemies.

“With a third sure-to-be-blockbuster film on the way, we’re presented with a unique opportunity to really get to the heart of the conflict between OPTIMUS PRIME and MEGATRON,” said series editor Andy Schmidt. “These are the most character-driven stories we’ve told yet.”

Written by comics mainstay John Barber, the four-issue series TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON – FOUNDATION explores the most hidden secrets of CYBERTRON, with the masterful art of Andrew Griffith. The second four-issue series, TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON – RISING STORM, sets the stage for the biggest, boldest threat to both Earth and CYBERTRON yet, brought to life in gripping detail by artist Carlos Magno. “Rising Storm focuses on the direct threat in the new film and how these new players set the stage for the climactic finale in the film,” says Schmidt. Several issues of both series are available in comic stores throughout North America, with the graphic novels launching on May 18th wherever books are sold.

“We had a lot of lead-time on the TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON books, which has allowed our artists to bring their A-game and try new things. These are going to be the best looking TRANSFORMERS books to date,” added Schmidt. “We’re reaching a new level with these and we’re all happy with the outcome.”
