The offspring of Supes and Bats have made quite the name for themselves these days. So enter DC’s next big hit series, Super Sons #1. Could you imagine if DC/Warner Bros ever got their act together and made an amazing “Spielberg” feel/type of Super Sons film? It would appeal to everyone. Everyone, meaning tapping the young audience and female audience. It would be the equivalent of Marvel’s Power Pack. We said it years ago about Power Pack for Marvel, what is Disney waiting for? Super Sons #1 from writer Peter J Tomasi and artist Jorge Jimenez.
Jim Lee’s Wildstorm will be reintroduced to comic book fans. This time as Wild Storm. They made a bold new change and made Wildstorm two words. Crazy right?? Anyway, Wild Storm #1 will bring writer Warren Ellis on board along with artist Jon Davis-Hunt. Creator of Wildstorm, Jim Lee, has a variant accompanying the big release, but it’s the regular Jon Davis-Hunt cover that will have fans really turning their heads.

We pointed out the love we had for the new DC Odyssey Of The Amazons series. We also pointed out the possible plethora of new characters that will appear within this series. This Wednesday, Odyssey Of The Amazons #2 will be more of the same. Great storytelling and new characters, what more does one need?
A new story begins in Justice League #15, ‘Timeless’. A possible first appearance here. The new storyline will be brought to us by Bryan Hitch (writer) and Fernando Pasarin (artist).

Ryan Ottley provides the Youngblood tribute cover. Other tribute covers we dig, Kill Or Be Killed #6 Dead tribute cover. The Walking Dead #164 Wild tribute cover.

Aaron Lopresti’s Power Cubed #2 (Dark Horse) follows up on the first fantastic issue. Doesn’t that look like Marvel’s Devil Dinosaur on the cover though? Guess any red colored T-Rex will look like Devil dinosaur right? Also coming from Dark Horse this week is Steam Man #1. That comic caters to the steampunk fans.

DC continues the deep origin the Arkham Knight in Batman Arkham Knight Genesis #3.

The Justice League team have new powers and are all “God like”. The new powered Justice League team appears in this weeks Justice League #45.

For those interested, Teen Titans Hunt #1 will focus on the secret origin of the team.

Some of the best reading source material comes from DC’s imprint Vertigo. This week Gail Simone writes Clean Room #1 from Vertigo. There’s not much else to say here, but this will probably be a very good read.

The Invincible title will dare to reboot itself? Check out Invincible #124 as everything in the comic starts from the beginning? Only Robert Kirkman would do this to us. This is probably a fantastic jumping on point too.

An Inhuman stars in his own book this Wednesday. Karnak #1 written by the awesome Warren Ellis. A pick up for sure. Also, Karnak first appears in a book InvestComics has been touting for years now; Fantastic Four #45 (1965). We’re still a bull on this comic.

The number one issue parade continues onward for Marvel Comics this week. Astonishing Ant-Man #1 looks like a decent book, but haven’t we all seen the movie though? And what’s with all the characters on the Mark Brooks cover? Secret Wars Agents Of Atlas #1 will throw a bunch of characters together in hopes you at least like one of them and buy the book.

Speaking of the Inhumans. The new Uncanny Inhumans #1 comic is very iffy. It’s an all new line up; Human Torch? Beast? We’re not really feeling the additions here. The old team is where it’s at. A great creative lineup could sway many readers and collectors alike that are not grasping the initial vibe here. Charles Soule writes and Steve McNiven does the art.

New Star Wars comic; Darth Vader #11. More fantastic Star Wars material from Marvel.

Valiant Entertainment rolls on with their epic Book of Death event. This Wednesday readers will get treated to Book Of Death Fall of X-O Manowar #1. If you’re not reading Valiant comic books, you need to get on it. You’ll be hooked.

Here’s the latest installment of long lost since forgotten comic books. Many of these comics are simply not spoken of anymore and SOME of these have no monetary value in the speculative market, but do have a place in our hearts. Great stories and amazing creative talents accompany most of these books. Into the abyss these comics have gone, but here they are once again. Buy them, read them, they’re fun.

Click the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on the books in this article.

Machine Man #1 (1984) This amazing 4 issue limited series was brought to us by the late great Herb Trimpe. Barry Windsor Smith handled all four of the “transformation” covers. Overall great comic.

Mephisto Vs. … #1 (1987) Mephisto wanted to fight everyone apparently back in the 80’s. So much so he got his own limited series. Each issue featured a different opponent. The battles included; Fantastic Four, X-Men, X-Factor and the Avengers. Al Milgrom writes. John Buscema art.

Akira #1 (1988) Akira was the first major manga series to ever hit at Marvel. 38 issues in all. Amazing storytelling and art in these comics. Writer Mary Jo Duffy lead the way here. Last 2 issues in this series (1996) had Contributors Dave Gibbons, Mark Texeira, Larry Hama, John Romita Sr., Joe Mad and Warren Ellis. Near mint copies of Akira books will run a little bit in the wallet, but well worth it.

Shatter #1 Special Edition (1985) The first all computer generated (Mac) digital print comic ever by First Comics (how appropriately named). Mike Saenz had all hands on deck with this “Mac” experiment. Art/inks/colors/letter/cover. When this comic came out, it was hot. Nowadays, well that’s a different story. One can purchase this comic for less than $2 on Ebay. Go ahead, click the link or comic, buy it, you’ll own a part of pop culture history.

Iron Man Crash (1988) Here we have the first all digital (Mac) graphic novel. This time from Marvel. Mike Saenz again had his hands all over the digital first, this time with William Bates lending a hand.

Batman Digital Justice (1990) As usual it seems, DC Comics took their time coming around. Joining the digital era 5 years after the first computer generated comic. DC went big though. 116 pages of computer generated mac art featuring Digital Batman. Batman in the digital world was the grandson of Commissioner Gordon. First and last appearance of Digital Batman.

Avengers #239 (1984) David Letterman’s 33 year run ended last night. What a run it has been. On a personal note; I still own recorded VHS tapes in my storage of this show back when I was going to school. I knew I couldn’t stay up that late so I set the VCR to record the show so I could watch it when I got home. What is a VHS tape and VCR? Google it. David Letterman’s first of many appearances in comic books happened right here. Written by Roger Stern, art by Al Milgrom. Cover collaboration by Milgrom and Joe Sinnott. A keeper for any David Letterman fan. So long Dave and thanks for making me laugh!

Thor #8 – The big reveal will have the comic book fandom buzzing for a little bit. Here’s the speculation bottom line. If the reveal is a big unexpected one, there will be plenty of aftermarket buzz. If the reveal is “ho-hum”, it will be a quick turnover and that’s it. However, the aftermarket buzz will be a quick one either way. One a bit longer than the other. Do not look for a long term investment here. Read for more details on this weeks InvestComics Hot Picks #371.

Darth Vader #5 – A possible first appearance in this comic. More Darth Vader foes? Buy any and all Star Wars comics right now. Read them, enjoy them, but possible first appearances may put some serious cash in your pocket.

Secret Wars #2 – The Marvel Universe is officially ending and we all have front row seats. Exciting isn’t it?! Look for possible game changers within all Secret Wars comics that will pay off later on. And be sure to enter the Secret Wars #1 variants giveaway right HERE!

Convergence Green Arrow #2 – Here’s a sleeper. The first Starfire comic by the creative team that will bring the largely successful Starfire #1 comic next month. It’s a back-up story. The new Starfire series will  be big folks and this comic is the precursor to the madness.

Injection #1 – A new Warren Ellis book. An interesting read that will appeal to fans. Look for a possible sellout here.

Here is the bigger question for speculators out there regarding this book. Once the reveal happens, then what? Do you run and get the first appearance of that particular character? Do you hold onto the comic for longevity monetary gains? The answer is……no on longevity, yes on short term. Yes on the first appearance, yes on short term. Yes on short if it’s a non-female draw character. If it’s a Jane Foster character, that’s not a short term investment. Journey into Mystery #84 (1962) is the second appearance of Thor and first Jane Foster. You simply do not short term on that book.

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

Essentially what the speculator needs to do here is sell while the aftermarket explodes. Do not hold onto this comic thinking she will appear in a movie, a television show or her time as Thor will even sustain. Yes she’s been a kick as* Thor, but the love fest will lose momentum eventually. It’s extremely rare over the last 40+ years since comic companies have tried its hand in changing a gender does it ever work for long term. Maybe this character will. Maybe Thor-ette will break the mold and become a huge success. I certainly do not foresee this happening. Been wrong before! No one is perfect. So InvestComics’ speculation here calls for quick and concise sells, do not hold, you may get stuck with books that wind up in the dollar boxes. Will still be a fantastic read regardless of any speculation.

Secret Wars #2 is gearing up to completely annihilate the entire Marvel Universe to make room for a new one. Check out Battleworld in issue number two and what it basically is. The origin of a new Marvel Universe is upon us with a ton of variants for this issue. It’s going to be a long ride with this one, so strap in. We’ll see when all of the dust settles months from now what we are left with. In the meantime, be alert of any new characters popping up during the transition process.

And speaking of new characters. Darth Vader #5 will show some new Vader foes. You know how InvestComics feels about the new Marvel Star Wars books. Buy them all. Just ONE of them, be it a variant (more money to make), maybe not a variant or a graded/signed (even more money to possibly make) could pay for a few Bronze Age issues you really need in your collection. Just ONE, that’s all it takes. The first Aphra appearance (we gave you a heads up) in Darth Vader #3 did just that for some. Its since cooled off, but many speculators cashed in on it. Buy Marvel Star Wars comics. Read them, they’re great.

A few Image Comics to check out this week. Mantle #1 is a straight up superhero comic. Remember those? And right, it has nothing to do with Mickey. The Phil Hester variant is a get. Also from Phil this week is Mythic #1. He writes this magic/mythic comic. InvestComics said this quite a while ago, but as the Dr. Strange movie draws closer and closer, we’ll see more and more of these magic books. Not a bad thing, but remember when The Walking Dead was at its height? Too many zombie books, so expect the same here. A $1.99 price point makes for happy comic book buyers. Injection #1; written by Warren Ellis will see sellouts. This interesting story will appeal to fans and its Warren Ellis so its a win. A Great Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire cover helps too. Staying on topic of a great writer, Cullen Bunn will give fans a horror genre book; Harrow County #1. Probably looking at a sellout here too. Two followups this week regarding number one issues that sold well; Savior #2 (written by Todd McFarlane) and Runlovekill #2. Good starts, now lets read to see where these series are headed. And finally from Image, mythology fans will enjoy Five Ghost Special #1.

Look for Boom Studios to have a hit on their hands with Lantern City #1. Story by Paul Jenkins and Matthew Daley. Four variants are available at last count.

Injustice Gods Among Us Year Four #1 variant is sold out. What does this mean exactly? It means that the variant is sold out.

Quick lesson here (free for InvestComics readers). One way to always tell if something is not working out is by the way things look….literally. When a set on a late show is constantly changed, it means producers are looking for a fresh look, change things up because it’s not working out too well. Getting new advertising dollars in or keeping the current guy in is the game. New look, give us money! After a while, that marketing ploy runs its course and eventually bye-bye. DC comics has changed course how many times now with Superman’s costume, Wonder Woman, etc. It shows the chaotic means to maximize the dollar for them. We all see by the reaction to most fans that change isn’t always a good thing. Not a bad thing either by any stretch, but do it too often and you lose your audience (money). Maybe a case in point with the new Angela Asgard’s Assassin #6  issue. Angela gets a new costume. Already? How many times will this happen before readers don’t care anymore? Readers don’t care now! Marvel might be, not saying this as fact, might be trying to renew interest in a character that they just brought over to their universe because fans are tired of Angela already and sales are down? Maybe. Either way, who cares really?! New costume for Angela, enjoy the read.

Click on the RED links or comic cover to buy/bid on Ebay right now.

…..And DC continues their marketing plan with more Convergence comics. As said almost each week here why we think this is a big marketing campaign for DC. In short, many characters and groups are being brought back from obscurity. Why? Maybe to test the waters to see if they have the potential of monies to be made on new product. Pure speculation here. Let’s get to the Convergence titles…..

Starfire Starfire oh how bright you will shine. This is an exclusive poem from InvestComics. We hope DC will pay us royalties once they use it. Starfire will shine very bright when her solo comic arrives. Expect big things with storytelling and the aftermarket when it hits. This week in Convergence Green Arrow #2, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palimotti will write a Starfire backup with art by Emanuela Lupacchino. This will be the exact creative team that will work on the ongoing Starfire series next month. This comic will be the first Starfire from this team, not the number one issue next month. So when the number one issue is exploding in the aftermarket as it will (please credit InvestComics when acting as though you knew it would), Convergence Green Arrow #2 should go along for the ride right? So a few things here. Buy Convergence Green Arrow #2, buy DC Comics Presents #26 (1980 – First New Teen Titans and Starfire) and buy Starfire #1 next month. And more thing, just for the record, artist Emanuela Lupacchino is the real deal. She flat out brings it. Watch out for her!

Thor_8_InvestComics_variantConvergence Batman Shadow of the Bat #2 will bring back the original Wetworks team from the Wildstorm days. That was fun back then. Wetworks first appeared in WildC.A.T.s: Covert Action Teams #2 (1992). And the rest of your Convergence titles; Convergence #6, Convergence Aquaman #2, Convergence Catwoman #2, Convergence Green Lantern Parallax #2, Convergence Justice League International #2, Convergence Suicide Squad #2, Convergence Superboy #2, Convergence Supergirl Matrix #2, Convergence Superman Man of Steel #2.

MOON KNIGHT #1 Brings ‘Weird Crime’ to All-New Marvel NOW!

This March, illuminate the dark corners of the Marvel Universe with MOON KNIGHT #1 – from New York Times Bestselling writer Warren Ellis and red-hot artist Declan Shalvey! Moon Knight #1 will continue the exciting wave of All-New Marvel NOW! series with a fresh and sensational take on Marc Spector and his vigilante alter ego Moon Knight!

“The touchtone for this book, for me, has been ‘Weird Crime.’ Both ground-level action and high strangeness,” says Ellis in an interview with Marvel.com. “This is a take on Moon Knight that unifies all the previous takes, making the character whole and taking him forward into a new kind of crime fiction.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to finally have this book out in front of readers. Moon Knight is one the most fascinating characters in the Marvel library and the depths that Warren, Declan and colorist Jordie Bellaire are taking him to will guarantee this book fits perfectly alongside acclaimed books like Daredevil, Hawkeye and Black Widow,” says Editor Stephen Wacker.  “This is the comic you had no idea you were waiting your entire life for.”

As a mercenary turned super hero, Marc Spector has faced down everything from werewolves, super villains to his own fractured psyche. Fearsome foes and gruesome threats permeate the darkest corners of New York City. Is Moon Knight ready for NYC? Better yet, is NYC ready for him?

Don’t miss one moment of the action when Ellis & Shalvey kick off the newest noir/horror thriller this March in the highly anticipated MOON KNIGHT #1!

Teen Titans #44 (1)Welcome to the InvestComics Hot Picks

…….15 days to get to 2000 Likes on Facebook. Getting to 2000 Likes means that if you share any InvestComics social media you become eligible to win a signed George Perez Tales of the Teen Titans #44, which just happens to be the first appearance of Nightwing. January 20th is the cutoff date, let’s get there!

There are certain characters within the realm of the comic book world that simply do not have the guns to hold their own monthly series. These characters are fantastic supporting heroes/villains, but simply lack that certain something to appeal to the masses. Ghost Rider, Vision, Namor, Supergirl, just to name few. Let me reiterate, these characters are awesome, they have found some success in their own way, but have either been short lived or became a flavor of the month type deal (See Aquaman). Do they deserve a better fate? Sometimes yes, and sometimes not. If you are a regular reader around here you will know that this speculator is still very high on one of these “b/c rate” characters; Moon Knight. With the influx of the movie and television comic lure, it’s very easy to say that any of the background music characters can breakout at any time (see Vibe). Moon Knight in my opinion will breakout eventually, so watch him. Been saying it for years and I warned you on Deathstroke years ago as well. So pay attention here.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 1/8/13

[scrollGallery id=329]

The same certainty cannot be said for this week’s new flavor; Black Widow. Although our Russian bombshell will debut with her own solo series this week; Black Widow (2014) #1 I will point out one certainty that will make a speculator cringe a bit. The Black Widow has starred in over 14 self-titled projects, either by way of limited series or solo series. This is of course not counting the dozens of team-ups she’s been involved in. So what does this tell us? Exactly what I explained a couple of minutes ago. BW lacks something to have her own thing on-going. Great limited series character, great teammate, but not a solo artist. She needs a band and she needs to be the backup singer. The movie appearances have spiked her first appearance a bit, and interest in the character, but not enough to warrant a solo series. Will the series do well at first? Yes it will. It will come out like gangbusters, but will succumb to mediocrity. It happens all the time with these types of characters. Even my breakout character pick Moon Knight. The difference however is that Black Widow will not eventually have her own film and compete with DC’s Dark Knight. Moon Knight will do just that, BW will not. Yes that’s right, been saying this for years and years, Moon Knight will be Marvel’s answer to Batman on the big screen. You’ll see. Anyway back to Black Widow. As stated before, the series will be a hot one out of the gate. There is no denying it. With writer Nathan Edmondson and artist Phil Noto at the helm, it will be a hot book. That’s also not discounting the variants accompanying the debut issue. The prize variant goes to the amazing Scott J. Campbell. You can get the variant and flip this graded bad boy for a few bucks in your pocket. Please do so quickly. The series will not sustain its interest long enough with speculators to shell out big bucks for this variant. BW’s first solo comic came out back in 1990’s graphic novel: Black Widow: The Coldest War. Her first appearance came in Tales of Suspense #52 (1964). The TOS comic will always be the one to have. You simply cannot go wrong with names like Lee, Kirby, and Heck attached to a first appearance.

In the midst of all the hoopla surrounding the “ALL-NEW NOW” absurdity there will be a nice little nugget hidden away in A Plus X (2012 Marvel Now) #16. This comic debuts the writing talents of Jeff Loveness. Jeff is the writer of the highly successful late night Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show. Does this mean anything in the grand scheme of things? Not really. What if though Jeff hits the right chord with fans? Well, this will be where it all started for him in the comic book world!

Now back to the “ALL NEW NOW!” ridiculousness. I will refrain from making this a long dissertation, but ALL NEW NOW!? This is the equivalent of having DC Comics pull an ALL NEW 52! Absurd. What happens when Marvel decides they need to change things up again? ALL NEW NEW NOW!? Anyway…..

All New Marvel Now Point One (2013) #1 features many of our beloved Marvel heroes/villains in a new way. Is this really necessary? Don’t matter, sales from the sold out Steve McNiven variant states differently from my thoughts here. All New X-Factor (2014) #1 has sold out across the board. Every variant is completely gone. The All New X-Factor will be a successful book, not only because it’s X-Factor, because Mr. X-Factor writer himself Peter David will be on board. This isn’t the first time Peter David has done an All New X-Factor comic. Back in 1991 he revamped the team in issue number 71; the caption on top reads “The All New….” Not only is this comic the first TRUE All New X-Factor, but it’s also the team that will probably appear in the movie. X-Factor #71 will be the go to book in the long run. The variants coming this Wednesday are great flip books to stock pile on the 1991 issue. The first appearance of X-Factor comes from this series in 1986.

Avengers World (2013) #1 is also a sold out comic this week. Look for the Arthur Adams’ variants to maximize you dollars on this one.

Cataclysm Ultimates Last Stand (2013) #3 will feature a death. Keep your eyes peeled for any surprises. It can be one of those books you see on the local news. Doubt it, but you never know.

The most interesting comic this week has to be Marvel’s Revolutionary War Alpha (2014) #1. It’s the first time in a long time that many UK Marvel heroes will be banding together to fight a threat. Captain Britain would make a spectacular hero on the movie screen wouldn’t he? Maybe Marvel/Disney will someday explore the possible international heroes they have at their disposal one day on film (now watch how many articles come out regarding a wish list of Marvel/Disney international movies. InvestComics leads I tell ya!). So with the ultra-cool Revolutionary War Alpha (2014) #1 coming out this week, it’s always fun to take a look at who is on the team and where they debuted. Below is a quick list and gallery showing who will appear in the comic and their first appearance. From the speculator side, I would without a shadow of a doubt pick these comics up. From a pure gut here, I think Marvel/Disney may be testing the waters with interest to the International scene. Will it deem worthy that they pursue a Captain Britain movie? Who knows?  Happy hunting though!

[scrollGallery id=328]

Captain Britain – First appeared in Captain Britain #1 (1976). Writer Chris Claremont and artist Herb Trimpe! A newspaper print comic cover to cover. Hard to find in Near Mint shape. The Marvel Team-Up with Spider-Man is also dubbed the first appearance of the UK Cap.

Death’s Head – Some controversy surrounds the first appearance here, but many say that the Transformers (UK) #117 from 1987 is the first appearance of DH.

Pete Wisdom – Debuted in Excalibur #86 (1995). Writer Warren Ellis, nuff said.

Motormouth and Killpower – Both debuted in Motormouth #1 (1992). Art by Gary Frank.

Warheads – This team has 10 members in it. All 10 first appeared in this comic. Some died (which means nothing these days really). So the debut of all of these dudes and an appearance from Wolverine. Nice huh?

Get your hands on the Revolutionary War Alpha #1 incentive variant, get some creator signatures (witnessed of course), grade it and sit on in for a while. It could be more valuable later on down the line when Marvel/Disney decide on to crossing international lines.

So what about DC Comics this week? Lots of Marvel Comics talk! Batman Superman (2013 DC) #7 leads the way with a cool sideways issue. Yes this is not a ground breaking gimmick at all, but still very cool nonetheless. InvestComics covered the sideways comic issue in the IC Hot Picks #293 article when DC decided to do the sideways thing with Batman Superman #5. Nothing like killing a unique thing now is there? Fantastic Four was the first major comic to be published in this format. Fantastic Four #252 (1983) is still the mecca of all sideway comics. The X-Factor sideway comic was pretty neat too.

Detective Comics (2011 2nd Series) #27 is an extra mega-sized anniversary issue with a who’s who guest list of creators. Check out the debut of a new storyline “Gothtopia” and a retelling (for the umpteenth time) of Batman’s origin from two heavy weights Brad Meltzer and Bryan Hitch. All this for a hefty $7.99….ouch.

Vampire Diaries (2013) #1 photo variant is sold out. Get the stars of the show to sign this cover and grade it. That’s a nice sale to a Vampire Diaries fan!

Check out the rest of the new comics coming your way this week. All nearing sell outs or sold out at the distributor already. Fracture (2013) Volume 2 #1 from Action Lab Entertainment. Kudos to Action, they have been doing very well with their sell outs. Lil Vampi (2014) #1 (Dynamite Entertainment), B.A.R. Maid (2013 Zenescope) #1, Cavewoman Labyrinth (2013) #0 (Amryl Entertainment), and Minimum Wage (2013 Image) #1.

Comic Broker Report – Collecting Brandon Graham

Brandon Graham is one of my favorite indie artists of the last ten years.  He represents a unique style that stands out in a medium where it’s notoriously difficult to  do so.  If you haven’t seen his work  before you are in for a treat.  He has done shorts, pin-ups and even writes for one one of Images best comics!

The Image 2010 Convention Yearbook

215932_20101204202155_large

A few months ago I recommended this convention special for two reasons: a rare Walking Dead cover and it just so happens to be the first appearance of the Nowhere Men ( Invincible 19 is a concept issue ).  Now I can safely say that Graham’s addition makes the trifecta.

Brandon has also done many Anthologies like 24 Seven, Stray Moonbeams, MDHP 2, Pillow Fight, Escalator, Side B, Popgun and Meathaus!

Maybe not so great news for Peter, but check out the new Carnage #1 headed your way this week. There will be 4 covers for this one. Jump on the rarest of the 4 variants and hold on to it. Carnage fever will heat up like it did back in the early to mid nineties. Amazing Spider-Man #344 (1991), drawn by Mr. himself Erik Larsen introduced us to Cletus Kasady. Comics Price Guide lists this comic at $15. Cletus later becomes Carnage in Amazing Spider-Man #360 (1992). Spidey #360 gives us the cameo of Carnage, as Amazing Spider-Man #361 gives the first full appearance. The full appearance will cost you $18 and the cameo will cost only $4. Considering how hot Carnage became at one time, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this villain heat up once again.

Going from one extreme to another, Batman villain Ragman never quite fit the bill as a hot commodity as Carnage did, a good villain nonetheless. So Ragman Suit of Souls #1 comes out this week. What does this mean for the collector? Absolutely nothing probably, but if you want to be on top of things, look for Ragman #1 from 1976 with a cover by legend Joe Kubert. The self titled number one issue was Ragman’s first appearance. This comic, like the first appearance of Carnage comes in at the $18 mark. So herein lays the question. You have $20 to spend; you have 2 first appearances to choose from. On one side you have an extremely popular villain from Marvel that has the potential to breakout once again, or you have a lesser known (less popular) Ragman that has a Joe Kubert cover, and is almost twice the age of the 1992 book (34 years old). Ragman being the older comic will probably be the harder to find in better shape, and is a Bronze Age comic. Ragman wins because of the age, the number of the issue and Kubert cover. Look for Ragman #2 while you’re at it. That issue is the origin issue. It’s only $14, another nice book to have in your collection.

1aaa1aaafldcvertA few more books to check out this week are; Kick Ass 2 #1. Do you really need an explanation of this comic? Vertigo Resurrection #1 from Warren Ellis. With names like Ellis, Bernie Wrightson, Jim Lee attached, once again, an explanation? And finally Thor’s bro gets his own book Loki #1. He’s a bad dude, and appearing in his sibling’s movie next year.

That’s it for now. Remember to check out InvestComics™ TV. A lot of very cool guest coming up!

See you next week. Invest wisely.

Short week, but with Blackest Night and Siege, it’s an awesome time to be reading comics ain’t it?!?!
Last week, SuperginraiX of the Outhouse pointed out a glaring mistake in the Hot Picks. It was stated that the Blackest Night epic was on its final issue. This is obliviously not true and was a big error. These things happen once in a blue moon and InvestComics apologizes for the misstep. …..So with that, Blackest Night #7 comes out this week with a ‘Top Secret’ cover. The
flashrebirth6.gifthor607.gifseries DOES press on and continues to be the hottest comic event on the planet. Follow MORE Lantern in Black Lantern Green Arrow #30. It looks like Flash: Rebirth #6 will finally come out. Although many fans have been disgruntled about the delay, watch this comic fly off the shelves as the second and third printings will be following very shortly.
Marvel’s own epic Siege is living up to its hype so far. Thor #607 looks like THE Siege book of the week. Don’t miss this one! This week brings the end of a Marvel comic. Ms. Marvel #50 will be a fight to the finish between Ms. Marvel & Mystique. Look for this comic to sell out quickly.

captainswing1.gifmsmarvel50.gifOne Independent title jumps out this week. Captain Swing #1 from Avatar, written by the awesome Warren Ellis.
