InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 2/18/15

Click on any of the RED links to go directly to Ebay to bid/purchase any books in this article. Maybe your shop under ordered or simply does not have the books within this article. InvestComics saves you the time of doing the search and brings you right to your target on Ebay.

Shock_Pop_Con_2015_InvestComicsInvestComics is fresh back from the very first comic show down in south Florida; Shock Pop Comic Con. Check out the extensive coverage InvestComics provided on its social media outlets. Click on the Press badge picture to the right to see some of the photo on the InvestComics Facebook page and also to be linked to the Shock Pop Comic Con Facebook page as well. Some awesome pictures to check out! The show was full of great guest and it was also a great place to get some comics witnessed by Capital Grading Services too. Capital Grading Services will be sharing some of the books that were verified, so stay tuned for that. A few nice ones coming up.

In the Meantime, be sure to head on over to the InvestComics Ebay page to check out some of the Capital Grading Services comics that are on consignment there. A Star Wars #1 blank variant with 6 sketches/signatures with a starting bid of only $99. Also starting at $99 bids are Aquaman #1 (New 52) graded/signed by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado and Sensational Wonder Woman #1 graded/signed by Gail Simone. Go right HERE to the InvestComics Ebay page to place a bid or buy it now.

Silk #1, buy it! For months and months and months now InvestComics has been high on the character Silk. We said that if you had to choose between the new Spider-Gwen or Silk, to choose Silk. If your heart fluttered or you got in the slightest bit angry about that statement, please stop reading this article and go argue with some Fanboy’s at your local comic shop who would win in a fight Gwen or Silk. Relax please. In no way shape or form is InvestComics saying that Gwen will not be successful. Never came out of these articles here. Never will. So what will I say to go out on a limb? Nothing too bad to disrupt the balance of the nerd universe, but I will say that in the long run, (my speculative call here; an opinion) Silk will have more to offer as far as character development goes. Gwen’s story is what it is. She was dead, now she’s not. Her story isn’t even in the depth’s of reality. Let me remind you, I’m not saying this is a horrible thing, it’s not actually, it’s a fun story. But, the Silk story may have more deepness/richness to it for years to come. One of the key components of Silk is the characters ethnicity. This alone is enough to make one realize the rareness and the possible complexity of what may come for Silk. Maybe not right away, but it may some day. Speculation here…..

Up and coming sensational creator Stacey Lee will start us off on the new era of Silk with issue number one. Stacey Lee is a phenomenal artist. A force to be reckoned with within the industry. Check out her web page right HERE and see some of the amazing things she has done so far in her short career. One of her first published comics is Steed and Mrs. Peel: We’re Needed #1 from Boom Studios.

STK645327So with the massive Silk love this week, (Gwen will have her turn next week) InvestComics gave you a heads up on Amazing Spider-Man #1. This issue featured the first appearance of Cindy Moon. It wasn’t until Amazing Spider-Man #4 the we saw Cindy Moon as Silk. I told you to buy these comics a very long time ago. I’m telling you to buy these comics now too. Click on the links and it will bring you to Ebay so that you can bid or buy your copies right away.

One more positive note here with the new Silk #1 book coming this Wednesday. There are only a few covers accompanying the debut here. No letter K variant, or letter S, nope just up to the letter D here, as in the fourth letter in the alphabet. Click the red link to buy your variant now. InvestComics loves Silk and the potential of the character. We love Gwen too, but Silk for the longevity win here.

….And speaking of no crazy variant cover run, you know what book looks attractive for the sole purpose of having just ONE cover and looking like an awesome story? Secret Identities #1 from Image Comics. Expect some buzz with this new TEAM book from Image. And only one cover too? Yep. As a speculator I like this this. No hunting down that variant that will give you the most bang for your buck.

With the recent announcement of Marvel Studios and Sony reaching an agreement to have Spider-Man crossover into their respective studio films, much of the comic book world immediately brought up Miles Morales as the potential replacement instead of having Peter star as the new Spidey. This probably is not going to happen, but a nice thought nonetheless. However, this week within Miles Morales’ comic book, he will show off a new spider power. This is pretty cool and a book to definitely keep an eye out on. Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man #10!

How about Grant Morrison and Jim Lee teaming up on Multiversity Mastermen #1!? That’s awesome sauce right here. Most won’t care that DC’s Multiversity is as confusing and convoluted as it gets. This is Morrison and Lee in the same book!

Jimmy_Amanda_InvestComicsRobin_Action_Comics_InvestComicsThe Bat books are an interesting bunch this week. Check out that cool homage cover to Batman and Robin #39. Instead of Superman it’s Robin? Okay. Batman Superman #19 variant cover was done by J.G Jones. Not only is the cover totally killer, but it features Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner on it! Get this comic triple signed and graded. You’ll without a doubt have a winner on your hands. And the last of the Bat books is Batwoman #39. Who is Red Alice? Find out this week.

David and Meredith Finch continue to make the Wonder Woman comic and character very relevant again. Check out Wonder Woman #39 as the Finch team introduces a new character.

Staying on topic about Wonder Woman, Superman Wonder Woman #16 introduces Magog into the New 52 universe. Besides Darkseid and or Doomsday possibly causing all sorts of issues for the Justice League of America on the big screen, Magog would be a distant third to fill in as the big bad wolf. His first appearance was in Kingdom Come #1 1996. He then reappeared in Justice Society Of America #18 in 2008. A bad as* villain with nothing but upside. Click the links and get your first appearances of Magog now.

Wonder_Woman_39_InvestComics Secret_Indentities_1_InvestComicsWith all the talk of a female dominate week; Silk, Gwen, Wonder Woman, Batwoman, Red Alice, why not also check out All New Captain America #4 too. A mysterious female character returns from the past. Who will it be? Read the comic and find out.

Something big will happen within the pages of Silver Surfer #9. Now that Spider-Verse is over, It’s time for fans to really pay attention to what writer Dan Slott has been up to during his Silver Surfer run.

Check out Sparks Nevada Marshal On Mars #1 from Image Comics. Looks like a fun read. Ei8ht Outcast #1 has nothing to do with the Kirkman Outcast title. This one is from Dark Horse and looks interesting. As Dr. Strange becomes more of a reality onto the big screeen, expect to see lots and lots of magic/mystic books like King Mandrake Magician #1 (Dynamite Entertainment).

And last but not least. Disney will have the new Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon coming soon, but until then we can all enjoy Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy #1. A prequel to the cartoon.

Remember to click on any of the RED links to go directly to Ebay to bid/purchase any books that your local shop has maybe under ordered or simply does not have. InvestComics saves you the time of doing the search and brings you right to your target on Ebay.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 1/28/15

A few things to go over before we get to the shorten edition of this week’s InvestComics Hot Picks.

Our sister company Capital Grading Services announced they will be at this year’s MegaCon in Orlando. Stan Lee will be in attendance, so make sure to get any Stan Lee books you’d like to get signed over to CGS soon to secure a spot before the limit max’s out. There will be plenty of other fantastic creators there as well, so be sure to check on the MegaCon website often right HERE. Pricing will be updated regarding Stan Lee signatures, so please be patient. If you find out before we do, then by all means let us know so that we can confirm it and update the site. The Capital Grading Services is updated as of right now with the banner and link regarding pricing for all tiers. Check that out right HERE. Fantastic guest list as always, be sure to get your books in before the deadline.

Web background

InvestComics_1We’re almost a month into 2015 already and we haven’t mentioned a very special anniversary coming up. In July of this year, InvestComics will be celebrating its ten year anniversary. Ten years of some amazing articles, interviews, videos and so much more. In celebration of our 10 years, each week we will post a little something reflecting on our awesome run. Pictured to the right is the very first InvestComics magazine that was published in 2007. It was a monthly magazine detailing some comics we deemed necessary for speculators to look out for. We spoke about Deathlok’s first appearance and how we felt he would eventually hit the big screen or television one day. Astonishing Tales #25 was a great book to pick up back then and it’s a great book today. Things don’t change that often because many of our speculation picks come to fruition around here quite often. It’s a natural progression to always be on top at InvestComics and we will continue to always do so. Dating back a few years ago (2012), InvestComics went to Tates’s Comic shop to cover the very first DC Hero Initiative sketch cover event (Tate’s Comics – Hero Initiative Event). We are proud of this video for so many reasons. First and foremost, the event explained the importance of Hero Initiative. Secondly, getting perspective from the fans about what Hero Initiative means to them, Third, speaking with Alex Saviuk was fantastic, and then some nice pictures of the the actual covers themselves. AND it also features the awesomeness of Jo. Shes’s the manager at Tate’s. Check out the short video below. We hope you enjoy it as much as we had making it.

Spider_2099_Spider_Verse_InvestComicsDeathstroke_4_InvestComicsSpider-Verse continues this week and you know how we feel about that here at InvestComics. For the newer subscribers here on InvestComics, we can tell you that we are big on buying anything Spider-Verse at this point. InvestComics was saying this way before Spider-Verse even started. There are simply too many variables with this massive crossover event. Too many possibilities of a breakout character or a surprise introduction. Get Spider-Man 2099 (2014 2nd Series) #8 this week and enjoy the read. Even if nothing substantial happens in this book, it’s still a great story line.

Speaking of substantial. Recent news says that Marvel will be doing a complete overhaul of their universe. So what does this mean for new titles like Uncanny Avengers (2014 Marvel) 2nd Series #1? Will all number ones moving forward mean anything in the new Marvel Universe? I think Marvel may have touched on this, but most of us stopped reading after we realized that Marvel is essentially doing a New 52 move but on steroids. Which is okay because lets face it, Marvel (Disney) are here to make money and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! Many fanboys will moan and groan about change, but it’s about keeping a business thriving and fresh, not about keeping things in a constant “norm” to satisfy a nostalgic bunch. Things change and change is good. Those fanboys that whine Bitch_Planet_2_InvestComics Uncanny_Avengers_1_Marvel_InvestComicswill be the first to buy the new Marvel universe books because those are the same ones who claimed never to buy a Spidey book again after Joe Quesada turned everything upsidedown.

Deathstroke will make his way into Gotham in Deathstroke #4. You have to check this book out. Tony Daniel is killing it as he usually does. How is this dude not a huge draw at comic conventions is a huge mystery. Seriously. InvestComics for years and years has been calling this guy out since his amazing AMAZING Batman run.

Image Comics will give readers the second issues of two hot number one comics. Bitch Planet (2014) #2 and They’re Not Like Us (2014 Image) #2 are set to arrive after their first issues sold out. Looks like more of the same here. Two other Image titles are on the cusp of selling out; Casanova Acedia (2014 Image) #1 and Dying and the Dead (2014 Image) #1.

It’s always interesting to read a new DC/Vertigo title. Check out Effigy (2015 DC/VERTIGO) #1. Looks like the typical edgy goodness of a Vertigo title. Good stuff.

Punks_The_Comic_4_InvestComicsPunks The Comic (2014) #4 pays homage to a very familiar Marvel comic cover. And Find (2015 Comixtribe) #1 and Munchkin (2014 Boom) #1 look interesting.

See you soon. Invest wisely. Read comics.

Carpe Diem.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 1/21/15

Wonder_Woman_InvestComicsStay tuned to InvestComics for a very special announcement on our Social Media outlets tomorrow at 1:30pm Eastern time. This is very big, so be sure to check it out!

Speaking of Social Media, be sure to join our “Investing in Comics 101 – IC Poet Society” Facebook page right HERE. There are some amazing nuggets being shared on there almost daily. Thanks to members like Giles Hargraves, Jamie Wright, Gary Conerly, Andres Sandoval, Jeremy Courtney, Billy Precht and a host of others. (If your name is not here, it was inadvertent, not intended to forget, just listing some members). Wouldn’t you like to be in the “know”? So ask to join the IC Poet Society and the door will open to a world full of fantastic speculation and fun.

As we have been saying for a couple of months now, changes are coming to the InvestComics website that will be tremendous. We are working behind the scenes to make a new world for all InvestComics fans to enjoy and benefit from. For many many years InvestComics has brought the luxury of giving fans their speculation information from a week to week basis without missing a beat and in return helping the speculator make money. Lots of it. The fans that understand the value of this information will benefit greatly. As too the new fan. The new speculator that comes on board will realize quickly how invaluable this information will be to them on a week in week out basis. Stay tuned for the birth of a new hub for speculators.

Our parent company; Capital Grading Services came back from the Miami Magic Con this weekend. There are some nice books that came out of there that are headed to CBCS. Two books in particular are ONE of a kind books that will have the grading community and fans of this genre buzzing. A photo of those books will go up soon. Truly is awesome. We cannot wait to share it with the Capital Grading Services and InvestComics fans.

Spider-Verse_InvestComics

We need not reiterate on here about the Spider-Verse saga going on, but there are constantly new speculators and readers coming to InvestComics so we will touch on it again. For those of you who are regular visitors here, listen up again. Buy anything Spider-Verse. Got it? That’s it. Oh yes, you want an explanation right? The reason is simple. There is one constant with the Spider-Verse books. Introductions and re-introductions of new Spider-Man characters almost every week. Last week it was Punk Spider-Man in Spider-Verse #2. Of course InvestComics was all over that one. Not knowing that Punk was in there, but letting the speculator know that they must buy it. We did poke fun of the idea of Gwen being a “spider-person”, but we made it a point to point it out to our readers! And just for the record, we still think it’s silly, nice turnover money, but our longer term money is on Silk. See how much we love the character Silk in previous articles here on InvestComics. So getting back on topic here, Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #13 will feature every single Spider-Man character in one comic. That’s boss. Who knows what will be happening in these pages? A quick cameo of a new spidey that strikes a cord with fans or maybe a reintroduction that does the same. Anything is possible within the Spider-Verse saga. Any book, any week. It’s a speculator and readers dream here. Fantastic fun to read and fantastic book(s) to speculate on. And don’t forget about Spider-Verse Team Up (2014) #3 this week too!

Batman_InvestComics_Bluebird

The Batman Eternal (2014) #42 book is slated for the debut of Bluebird. Maybe the debut in the Batman Eternal universe, but she actually first appeared in Batman #28 New 52. She’s kind of awesome too.

Batman_and_Robin_InvestComics Winter_Soldier_InvestComicsLast issue in Wonder Woman #37 was the debut of the new Donna Troy on the last page. David Finch and Meredith Finch are turning things around for this title. This week we get more of new Donna Troy in Wonder Woman (2011 4th Series) #38. Stay on top on this speculators. Readers are getting their monies worth here, maybe you will too.

Robin Rises: Omega #1 gave us confirmation that Robin may have superpowers now. See more of this story line in this weeks Batman and Robin (2011 2nd Series) #38.

Bucky takes a ride in the Marvel Universe future, 200 years to be exact. Check out Bucky Barnes Winter Soldier (2014) #4. An interesting read here indeed.

1st_Judge_Death_InvestComics Judge_Death_InvestComicsA couple of cool back issues to maybe search out if you’d like. Judge Death first appeared in 2000 AD #149 (1980). He’ll be in Judge Dredd Classics Dark Judges (2014) #1 this week. And the first appearance of Elfquest was in Fantasy Quarterly #1 (1978). Dark Horse will be giving readers Elfquest (2014 Dark Horse) 1 For $1 #1 this Wednesday.

Powers (2014 Icon) 4th Series #1 will forge ahead with its fourth series restart. Ahead of its premiere television series this time. InvestComics has touched on the Powers series a number of times since 2012. Look for a bump in the comics if the TV series does well.

Check out Dark Horse Presents (2014 3rd Series) #6. Matt Kindt and Scott Kolins debut a new space series called PastAways. Sounds like a fun read, you should check it out.

1st_Elfquest_InvestComics Elfquest_1_InvestComicsImage Comics debuts Reyn (2014 Image) #1. This is also a great looking story that collectors should check out. Look for sellouts on this book.

Here are the rest of the fantastic reads and possible speculation books coming this week. Henchmen I Henchbot (2014 Robot Paper) #1, Burning Fields (2014 Boom Studios) #1, Galaxy Quest The Journey Continues (2015 IDW) #1 and Creeple Peeple (2014 IDW) #1.

Invest wisely. Read comics.

Carpe Diem.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 11/19/14

Capital Grading Services has a private signing with the legendary Kevin Eastman! That’s right, the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is on our turf! Read more about the signing and how to get your books over to Capital Grading Services to get your books signed and sent off to be graded by CBCS. Stay tuned for a huge announcement as our next superstar will step to the plate soon for a private signing with Capital Grading Services. Follow Capital Grading Services on the websites right HERE or on Facebook right HERE for updates on upcoming events. What an amazing 2015 we have in store for collectors. Stay tuned and stay close.

Capital_Kevin_Eastman

As mentioned a few weeks ago. InvestComics will be going through some major changes. This will change the landscape in ways that will have other major comic websites following suit. As they do now anyways! Again stay tuned….

Wonder Woman (2011 4th Series) #36 will be a huge book this week. Besides having the amazing superstar David Finch take over the creative duties on the series, there will be major introductions of characters and villains appearing. With a Wonder Woman movie coming in a few years, it’s a safe bet to assume that there will be some hot WW comics along the way. This one being one of them. It won’t have any affect on the movie what’s so ever because the script has already been handed in. But, that said, last minute changes happen often and maybe they borrow from the new direction here? Highly unlikely, but this doesn’t matter. WW books will heat up if DC continues to breath new life into the character and the series. With the Awesome David Finch at the helm and the new characters/villains in the mix, yes this is a very very big start. Buy this on Wednesday. Buy it.

So with Wonder Woman making her noise this week in a big way, how would the other guys answer the bell? With Spider-Woman (2014 5th Series) #1 of course. Not only will readers and collectors alike receive the return of the best Spider-Woman ever in Jessica Drew in her own series, but another character that InvestComics, yes that’s right InvestComics called quite a while ago to stock up on; Silk. I informed everyone here that Silk will be a force to be reckoned with within the Spidey universe. Well so much so, that not only will she appear in the hot number one issue here, but Silk will be getting her own series down the road. How does InvestComics do this? We are the best that’s why. Reiterating the past InvestComics Hot Pick(s), I tell you now, Buy Amazing Spider-Man #1 (2014) and Amazing Spider-Man #4 now before it’s too late. Get the variants signed and graded as also for the aforementioned comic above and flip them. Money to be made here with both Wonder Woman #36 and Spider-Woman #1 variants if done quickly and concisely.

Planet_Venom_InvestComics Spidey_VenomPlanetSuperman Wonder Woman (2013) #13 will feature the New 52 return of a villain group. Look at this comic and see if the story holds as this could lead into something else down the line for the group.

Two female lead books debut this week. Sinergy (2014 Image) #1 and Punk Mambo (2014) #0. Of course the Image comic is sold out already, while Valiants Punk Mambo is showing some very strong sales. And another sold out Image comic; Intersect (2014 Image) #1 looks very interesting. A must for collectors and readers.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2013 3rd Series) #21 will feature the Venom Planet. Gotta love that. The first time readers ever got a glimpse of the symbiote planet was in 1995’s Amazing Spider-Man Super Special #1. Fun times…..fun times indeed.

Batman_Superman_InvestComics Amazing_Spider_man_1Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #10 continues the Spider-Verse saga. You know what InvestComics has been saying about this, so no need in repeating. But if you’re new here, just scroll back to the previous weeks InvestComics Hot Picks and a few months ago as well to catch up. Yeah, that’s how we roll, we give you a heads up way before.

Batman Superman (2013 DC) #16 welcomes new series artist Ardian Syaf. This dude is on point.

Image Comics Goners (2014 Image) #2 is a sold out. And Epochalypse (2014 Legendary) #1 from Legendary looks like an interesting book. Check that one out.

See you soon. Invest wisely.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 11/12/14

Wytches_InvestComics Spider-Verse_InvestComicsBe sure to stop by the Capital Grading Services website for new updates. Like us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. An announcement on the first exclusive signing coming soon!

Not each week does the opportunity present itself that a surefire hit will surface, that one book that will be an instant aftermarket success. This week however, there is that book (and another, but more on that in a bit); Wytches (2014 Image) #2. The success on issue number one was so great, that it will indeed spill over to the second issue, I guarantee it. Get your copy quick because it’s already sold out at the distributor. The reason for the success here? Put Scott Sndyer on writing duties, put Jock on art and cover duties, which equates to a fantastic story. Add to the mix of a possible movie deal and you have instant speculation gold.

A book that may take some speculators by surprise this week is Kitchen (2014 DC/Vertigo) #1. A reverting story line coupled along with the great DC imprint of Vertigo makes for a possible sleeper. The $10 variant is already sold out, so pay attention to this one.

New_Mutants_Annual_1_InvestComics Captain_Marvel_InvestComicsIt’s not too often that an IDW comic cracks the InvestComics Hot Picks list. The aftermarket never acts too kindly to certain independent publishers, this being one of them. That said, not to take anything away from them! They put out an outstanding publishing line. This week IDW gives us a rarer original content comic instead of a licensed one. Check out Bigger Bang (2014 IDW) #1 this week. Looks like a winner.

Drifter (2014 Image) #1 is sold out at the distributor, but is still available at some of the on line outlets. If you are afraid you may miss it at your local shop, you should probably buy it on line before that becomes a non-option for you.

What more can be said on here that hasn’t already been said about Spider-Verse? I have been alerting you for months about how important this saga is. Gave you a heads up on the Gwen Stacy issue too a few weeks ago. It begs repeating though just in case you haven’t been listening. This Spider-Verse story line is one of the most important speculation Spider-Man series to come out in quite some time. This isn’t “One More Day”, or “The Clone Saga”, this is a story line that will introduce and re-introduce every single Spider-Man costume, person, metal armor, and even an animal BACK into the fold of the Marvel universe all at one time. So to reiterate for the millionth time here, what does this Django_Zorro_InvestComics Rocket_Raccoon_Variant_InvestComicsmean for the speculator? It means that there are going to be an abundance of breakout characters here. Old and more importantly NEW! If you are a reader or a speculator, you need to get on every single Spider-Verse book. Anything Marvel throws at us, get it. There will be introductions (and reentries) in books that you were not expecting and BAM the book will blow up because the character(s) suddenly are at the forefront of a new book, or appear in another thus creating a mad frenzy to find that first appearance. I said it from the beginning, the Spider-Verse story line is a huge marketing monster with tremendous potential to explore and introduce new Spider characters. Do not sleep on this specs. So with all of this stated, Spider-Verse (2014) #1 will do all of the above mentioned. The team of Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos begin the awesome series. There are two separate stories introducing two new spider characters. Yes this book, better yet, this series is one to get without a doubt!

And speaking of reintroduction’s, check out Silver Surfer (2014 5th Series) #7. There will be characters reintroduced into the Marvel lure that promise’s to blow readers away. Be sure to take a look and make an executive decision on whether or not to pursue this issue and the first appearances of our old guest. Oh and the best best part of this comic.Want to know? Dan Slott is the writer! So pulling double duty here with the reintro’s.

Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man (2014) #7 will focus on the question; who is Katie Bishop? Maybe she is going to play a major role in the Ultimate Spider-Man universe. Maybe not. Either way, her first appearance was in Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #12 (2012).

All New Captain America (2014 Marvel) #1 will be accompanied with 9 variant covers at last count. This gimmick will be short lived because most likely Steve Rogers will be back in given time and Sam Wilson will be out. A “new” CaptaiJon_Sable_Freelance_1_InvestComics Superior_Iron_Man_1_InvestComicsn America is not “new” anymore and it’s grown a bit, become tiresome and non-eventful. It may sell out, but don’t look for record breaking aftermarket numbers here. The $200 variant is the only outstanding book sold out book at the moment. More of the same with the other new book the “new” Captain America will appear in this week; Captain America and the Mighty Avengers (2014) #1. There is a very nice $3.99 Rocket Raccoon variant to check out though.

Guardians 3000 (2014) #2 will introduce a new Herald to Galactus.

A new Iron Man book will turn some heads. Check out Superior Iron Man (2014) #1.

Captain Marvel has been in the news lately. Have you seen that? Something about a movie. Anyway, in this weeks Captain Marvel (2014 8th Series) #9 all eyes will be on Lila Cheney. She guest stars. Lila first appeared in New Mutants Annual #1.

Hero_2014_InvestComicsThe new Hero Initiative comic Hero Comics (2011 IDW) #2014 will feature a new Maxx story from Sam Keith. Mike Grell will provide a new story on his character from 31 years ago, Jon Sable, Freelance. A hot book for a little bit back then. Check out Jon’s first appearance in Jon Sable, Freelance #1 (1983) from First Comics. And incidentally, First Comics are making a comeback with their new release Badger comic coming soon. They were great back in the 80’s. I’m sure they will put out some great reading material this time around as well.

An odd pairing from Dynamite Entertainment this week. Django Zorro (2014 Dynamite) #1. Yes that’s right Django and Zorro?! Sounds like fun! Here’s the most awesome part of this comic release. It’s written by Quentin Tarantino! Get a CBCS witness signature on this comic, score a 9.8 and you have yourself a nice book. We’re on the saddle with this comic. The variants are fantastic too. The favorite is posted here, Nice.

A couple of other number one comics to take a peak at this week; Deep State (2014 Boom) #1 and Resurrectionists (2014 Dark Horse) #1.

Don’t forget to check out the updates on the Capital Grading Services website (www.capitalgradingservices.com).

See you soon. Invest wisely.

InvestComics Hot Picks – New Release Comics on 11/5/14

Capital Grading Services is coming….. Be sure to LIKE the Facebook page and VISIT the website for updates.

And as mentioned last week, InvestComics will be going through some fantastic changes in the months ahead, stay tuned.

1394620_xl2116202Spider-Verse is finally officially here with Amazing Spider-Man (2014 3rd Series) #9. So what will a speculator need for this epic Spider-Man story line you may ask? Besides deciding which cool variant to pick up? Not too many to choose from, which is great. More on the variant craze getting out of control later. But how about the most comprehensive Spider-Verse checklist on the net? From InvestComics of course. Click right HERE and follow the all of the characters that are appearing in the story. First appearances galore here. A MUST for anyone seeking out the plethora of first appearances to appear in this mega tale. As I said a long long time ago here on InvestComics about the Spider-Verse saga, there are many spider characters that will and MAY breakout into their own series. The speculator needs to stay on top of their game in order to spot the hot character(s) that may spin out onto their own. Spider-Verse Team Up (2014) #1 is also a part of the Spider-Verse madness this week too. All the while using the checklist to find the first appearances via InvestComics, you can follow along. It’s a fun time to be into the Spider-Man universe. A lot going on and to keep an eye out for. Have fun!

2115995300px-Hulk_Vol_2_30Having fun is always an important tool to keep front and center while making decisions to buy, sell, or hold a comic. Reading them is an essential part of having your collection as well. I have said this countless times, but we all need reminders once in a while! That said, you must check out Avengers and X-Men Axis (2014 Marvel) #4 this week. It features the birth of KLUH. Who’s that you ask? Spell that name the other way and you’ll get an idea of what that new birth is in reference to. KLUH first appeared in HULK #30 (2011). So judging from a books cover, the new KLUH looks quite awesome.

Death of Wolverine Weapon X Program (2014) #1 may have some new characters popping up. Keep an eye out on this one.

ScreenHunter_458 Nov. 01 22.17

The end is nigh, for Superman Unchained that is. Check out the the last issue in this very popular series; Superman Unchained (2013 DC) #9. Loaded with a few variants, there is one variant that exceeds any expectation of the others. That would be the Jim Lee black & white variant cover. At a mere $60, a speculator can get this signed and graded via CBCS and flip it for a lot more than the money spent to get it all done. Easily.

21141622059478Any fans still upset about the new Lobo? Don’t fret, looks like the old Lobo will make an appearance! Well sort of……Lobo (2014 DC) #2 doesn’t seem like much of a homecoming for the original Lobo with that cover. We need that old Lobo back with his head attached to kick this new Lobo’s ass.

Remember when the Image title Chew was on top of the heap? It doesn’t seem that long ago right? Oh but it has been a while. With that said, Chew fans will get a comic that Image is calling “the most talked about issue in years”. Check out Chew (2009) #44.

Quite a few number one issues hit this Wednesday. A few interesting standouts though. One being The Zoohunters (2014 Aspen) #1. Although Aspen Comics put out a good product, they never amount to much within the aftermarket. Maybe this title will prove otherwise. It’s an interesting premise, good artwork, who knows? Give it a go, check it out. Oni Press has a knack for putting out some great comics. Terrible Lizard (2014 Oni Press) #1 is sold out. Must take a peak at this on your local comic shop shelf. Image
Comics offers up four debut issues that are all sold out. Humans (2014 Image) #1, Tooth and Claw (2014 Image) #1, American Legends (2014 Image) #1, and Penny Dora and the Wishing Box (2014) #1. Birthright number one sold out (an 2016971InvestComics Hot Pick), now Birthright (2014 Image) #2 has sold out too. Stay on top of this specs.

A lot like Aspen Comics, Zenescope Comics are one in the same. Always fantastic sales, but aftermarket is never kind. Sold out from the Z is Hollywood Zombie Apocalypse (2014 Zenescope) #1 and Cinderella (2014 Zenescope) #1. Great reads probably, so pick them up!

Another show on how the hobby is getting a bit out of control this week. Although I speak of variant comics each and every week, I try to point out some that will make sense to buy and possibly flip or are just flat out pretty! Then there comes a point of ridiculousness. This week, John Carter Warlord (2014 Dynamite) #1 will have at least 15 variant covers. Why? Understandable that Dynamite wants to make money, what company shouldn’t right? But there is a thing called over excessive. Don’t get it wrong here, if Marvel or DC pull this I call them out too. I’ve done it before. The variant covers should be limited to a few covers, not 15. It’s absurd and silly.

2114450One regular cover that exceeds any sort of gimmick this week (yes DC, Lego variants, really?) is Green Lantern (2011 4th Series) #36. A perfect example of letting things be, because that REGULAR cover blows away any variant cover this week. Fantastic.

Invest wisely.

Carpe Diem.

The spec market will be a little quiet this week, but it is Halloween time again. You know what that means right? Free comics this Wednesday, then the free candy on Friday! What a week!

Deathlok_HasbroAstonshing_Tales_25Last week I gave you an option for that $100 burning a hole in your pocket. This week there is another $100 InvestComics Hot Pick. With the new release of Deathlok (2014 4th Series) #1 headed our way this Wednesday, and with a plethora of variant covers to accompany it, we should really turn our focus onto Astonishing Tales #25 (1974). This of course is Deathlok’s first appearance. The collector can buy a very fine+ copy of this comic right now at $100 easily. A bargain considering all of the play the character is getting these days on S.H.I.E.L.D. Television series. How long before we eventually see him making an appearance on the big screen in a cameo possibly? The character is an interesting one and fans do have a liking for him. There are a few mitigating factors here that do equate to more of a cult following though rather than a popular one to the likes of say of a Deadpool. For many years there were rumors of a possible Deathlok movie, that never came to fruition, but may someday. Instead we get the character on a popular television series. Which doesn’t always account for a first appearance to spike. Movie news spikes a book much quicker. The Deathlok series is on its fourth ongoing go-around. Too many retakes on a series shows that the character lacks the durability to sustain its popular status for too long. So where does that leave the speculator? Well this leaves us with a potential character that may find it’s way as a supporting cast member in a movie one day. The popularity has called for four ongoing series already. That has to account for the cult status, but Marvel wants this dude to work in the worse way. With DC announcing their Cyborg movie, you don’t think Marvel would want to outdo them and show them how it’s done? Maybe, maybe not. The Deathlok character in my opinion has more upside than most other Bronze age first appearances. Astonishing Tales #25 is not only an important first appearance key Bronze book, but it also happens to be Legends’ George Perez’ first professional work. That alone is worth the one bill to buy this comic. Upside guys/gals, upside.

Two major players get into the mix this week. The ever popular Carnage stars in Axis Carnage (2014 Marvel) #1. Who doesn’t love this villain?? Check out this comic for a big reveal in the life of everyone’s favorite symbiote. Harley Quinn gets her own poly bagged comic this week. Not because of explicit content, not because of a major story plot line, not because of a coupon or something, because of the smell…….yes the smell. Supposedly DC Comics has put some sort of a “smell” into the issue. A literal smell. Like in one of the human senses, taste, touch, etc. Smell. They say it smells nasty so they poly bagged it. Really?? Seriously?? This is almost too hard to believe because it sounds absurd. It’s not April first, it’s in their solicit for the comic, so……..oh boy. Can we go back to the absurd amount of variants instead? Actually that is present too. Look for the smelly issue; Harley Quinn (2013) Annual #1. Harley_QuinnCarnageTaking gimmicks to new heights. Next comic companies will put blood in their ink. Oh wait…..dang.

A must buy this week is Image Comics’ Rasputin (2014 Image) #1.

Quite a few independent comics will have to be on your radar this week. Very interesting story lines indeed. Nothing sold out as of yet, so be sure to pick them up at your local shop and make a decision on them. Godkiller Walk Among Us (2014 Black Mask) #1, I Play The Bad Guy (2014) #1, Roman Ritual (2014) #1, Beast Commandos (2014 Amigo) #1, and Phantom (2014 Hermes Press) #1.

Archie Comics starts a new series with the worlds most famous hedgehog; Sonic Boom (2014 Archie) #1. The baddest man in the UK comes this Wednesday with a new number one issue; Dredd Uprise (2014 Rebellion) #1.

A fantastic comic comes out from Marvel this week; Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration (2014). A look back at 75 years in the Marvel Universe. Brought to you by a bevy of creators within the industry. Get this comic for nostalgic reasons, for great reading material, a history lesson of sorts, and maybe even a nice comic to get Capital Grading Services on top of eventually. Get the various creators from this comic to sign it for you and Capital GS will get it witnessed/graded through CBCS. Sounds like a plan!

See you soon. Invest wisely.
Carpe Diem.
